23.01.2022 The leaderboard for the virtual series is being updated as we speak, so send your submissions for Mahers Hill to 0409047714 if you haven’t already. It’s a bit light on in female submissions so far, if you wanted to get out and claim a win... Pic from Adam’s run last weekend. Remember, in light of border restrictions, you have August as well to get in your run at Maher’s. Hopefully things will be a bit easier by then.
22.01.2022 Hi All, At a meeting this morning, the Parklands Albury Wodonga board considered the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic and decided, in the interests of public health and safety, to postpone the Murray Running Festival until a date in spring to be determined. All current entries will be carried over to the new date. If you cannot make the new date, Parklands will consider other options including a refund, or carrying your entry over to the 2021 race.... Entries to the Riverina Trail Series will be paused until a reassessment by April 30. In making this decision, the Parklands board considered the likelihood of further, more dramatic restrictions on the size of events, as has been the pattern overseas, and also the responsibility of not stressing our health system and its suppliers. We will announce the new date for the Murray Running Festival in the next month. Please bear with us as we work through this over the next few weeks. Kind regards and stay safe, Parklands Albury Wodonga
21.01.2022 With regards to the Prime Minister’s instructions on events with over 500 attendees to close during the COVID-19 outbreak.... the Parklands board of management is having a meeting to discuss the status of the Murray Running Festival on Tuesday. Advice from health professionals is changing daily, so on Tuesday we will be considering the latest advice we have.
21.01.2022 GPX files for the courses of the Virtual Series? Here they are. Download into your device and use as you see fit. Scroll down the bottom of the page. https://www.parklands-alburywodonga.org.au/support-your-//
21.01.2022 A mea culpa on our part.... as you may have noticed, we've not had much luck in recent weeks with hosting GPX files or handling emails! A change of server at our end isn't going that smothly. But we are working through it. The Riverina Virtual Race page has been updated with a fresh link to GPX files and the leaderboard for Albury Ranges is being updated. BUT, if you've emailed us your Albury Range performance in the last 3 odd weeks and not received a reply, please SMS it t...o 0409047714, because the odds are, we haven't seen your email. And now that it's July, Mahers Hill awaits. http://www.riverinatrails.com.au/riverina-virtual-trail-se/
20.01.2022 Just sharing this again as we’re still getting the odd call or text about it- the Murray stunning Festival has been postponed and is not on this weekend. If the trail series races do not go ahead as planned, they will probably be held as virtual competitions where you run the race course on your own, as quick as you can, during the month which the race should have been held in. We’ll post more details in April, depending on how things are progressing with Covid19.
20.01.2022 So, is this going to be the new training fad? https://www.theguardian.com//coronavirus-chinese-man-under
18.01.2022 Less than three weeks to go now... how’s the training going? https://www.riverinatrails.com.au/murray-running-festival/
16.01.2022 Unfortunately, Parklands Albury Wodonga has had to make the decision to cancel the 2020 Murray Running Festival entirely, given the current Covid19 situation and especially given travel restrictions in place, for which there is not a concrete timetable for when they will be lifted. If you've entered the 2020 MRF, your entries will be automatically rolled over to a future edition of the Murray Running Festival- when entries for 2021 open, we will email you a code for entry. W...e intend to hold the 2021 MRF on the last weekend of March. We're very sorry the situation has come to this- hopefully 2021 brings better news. Kind regards, Sean and Parklands Albury Wodonga
15.01.2022 We’ve received a few queries about Covid19- at this stage we’re taking the following advice. Have a look.
13.01.2022 Don’t forget to keep the speed work up!
13.01.2022 As the name suggests, the new course at Maher’s Hill in the trail series does, in fact, have a hill. Full maps will be online by the end of the month.
13.01.2022 Regrettably but understandably, we have made the hard decision of canceling the Murray Running Festival for 2021. Please read the article for details regarding refunds from the 2020 season. Looking forward to 2022!
12.01.2022 How’s this for a view from the Huon Hill course? (pic: Northeast Scanner)
12.01.2022 Dip of the hat to Jim, who raced Mahers Hill yesterday and sent these excellent photos. Keep sending your submissions to 0409047714. Regarding the border crossing situation- obviously getting to race venues is more problematic at the moment. With that in mind, we’re extending Mahers Hill eligibility through till end of August, so don’t worry if it’s too time consuming or difficult to get there before the end of July.... We’ll review the border situation again in mid August and adjust the race schedule further if needed.
10.01.2022 Hi All, As you may have seen on our Facebook page earlier this week, the 2020 Riverina Trail series is going virtual due to Covid19. Instead, the 2020 series will be a virtual one, wheee participants can run a specific race course at any time in the calendar month, report in their times, have them posted on leaderboards, with results for that course posted at the end of each month.... Venues and months will be: June: Albury ranges (Woomargama is too far for non essential travel) July: Mahers Hill August: Huon Hill September: Fed Hill October: Mt Baranduda So, you can run the Albury ranges race course any time in June and have your time go to the results which will be posted at the end of June. In July, you can run the Mahers Hill race course at any time and have your time go to the results which will be posted at the end of July, and so on. The website and booking page for the series is up at http://www.riverinatrails.com.au/riverina-virtual-trail-ser - downloadable GPX files will be uploaded over the weekend plus maps for the short course. The register now link will also be ready hopefully on June 1st- there is a booking feature being tested which allows people to book when they're running a race course so proper distancing can be maintained. If you have already signed up for the original 2020 trail series, your entry for that will be carried over to 2021. Looking forward to seeing some trail action over the cooler months! Kind regards, Sean Parklands Albury Wodonga
08.01.2022 The Wainwrights are the notable peaks of England’s Lake District. To run all 200+ of them is a supreme test of endurance, and the record recently fell to Paul Tierney. If this video doesn’t make you want to get out the door, you’re beyond help. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=laMBEjxlst8&feature=youtu.be
06.01.2022 Trail series entries are online :) http://www.riverinatrails.com.au/riverina-trail-series/ A change to the date of Huon Hill, to avoid the Mother's Day Classic at Sumsion Gardens- it's now on August 9, so a nice lead into the Wagga and Shepparton Marathons.... Good to have a winter outlet for the fitness you're no doubt all building for the Murray Running Festival, for which you're no doubt all doing your longest runs for in the next couple of weeks. May 31- Mount Baranduda 20K and 7K June 28- Woomargama Winery Run 17K and 6K July 26- Maher's Hill 15K and 7K August 9- Huon Hill 14K and 4K September 6- Fed Hill Challenge 21K, 8.7K and 4.2K
06.01.2022 Accouncing our official photographers for the Murray Running Festival- Ian and Velta Fellowes, the Eventurers. If you've run in a decent sized race in Victoria or southern NSW in the last few years, you may well have looked into their lenses already. Make sure you're showered, shaved and smiling on race day....
03.01.2022 We won’t say that this can’t happen to you during this year’s trail series....
03.01.2022 There’s currently a hosting problem with the GPX files for the Riverina virtual runs. Until we get the Parklands page back up, try downloading them from here: https://www.dropbox.com//583c7y/AABKx025AjQcO4FcJFYCAC1va If you have Garmin connect on your phone and click on the link, it should set up automatically as a new course.... For other software- eg Strava, Coros, etc- download the files to your computer and then follow your providers instructions. The Albury Range courses are the same as last year’s physical race courses.
02.01.2022 THE 2020 RIVERINA TRAIL SERIES GOES VIRTUAL.... It’ll come as no surprise to many of you that, due to the Covid19 outbreak, the 2020 Riverina trail series will not take place in the usual format of everyone gathering on one day to race each other. Instead, the 2020 series will be a virtual one, wheee participants can run a specific race course at any tune in the calendar month, report in their times, have them posted on leaderboards, with results for that course posted at the... end of each month. A website and register now link will be up in the next few days with all the details- race maps, booking mechanism which will ensure we all keep our distance, etc. Race courses will be unmarked. If you have already signed up for the original 2020 trail series, your entry for that will be carried over to 2021. Watch this space- more details coming in the next few days.
01.01.2022 SHOW US YOUR SNAPS !! Parklands would love to see the pictures you take in our reserves, on walking tracks along the mighty Murray, as you ride along the amazin...g High Country Rail Trail or walk along the beautiful Kiewa River. Not to mention all the other parks and areas - Swainsona Reserve, Baranduda Range etc etc. You get the idea We are hoping as you snap your pictures on Instagram and Facebook that you might include the hashtag paw and the first word of the area where you are so an example might be #pawgateway for gateway island or #pawhigh for the high country rail trail. More tags may be #pawhunch or #pawbaranduda We will be putting up some little signs to help remind you of the tag on gates in the future but thought that as of now (or even tag some of your older snaps) you could start hashtagging them This will build up a beautiful little folder of shots to just look back on over the years. We are also hoping to install a few dedicated photopoint areas with a specific tag to get a more detailed snap shot of that focused area. It would be lovely to see the changes over the years. So start snapping, hash tagging and sharing away. Show is your snaps!! Here is one to start the ball rolling #pawhigh , taken yesterday after I brush cut the grass around the shelter near Bandiana Have a lovely weekend
01.01.2022 Who managed to get out to Mahers Hill or Huon Hill in the last week? Send times and data to 0400947714. Recent pics courtesy of Cheryl Bester and Trevor Seaman.
