18.01.2022 What is PPID? Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (PPID), which is also commonly referred to as Equine Cushing’s Disease, is a common hormonal dysfunction in horses. PPID causes the horse’s pituitary gland to produce an excess of hormones. These hormones are responsible for regulating a large variety of bodily functions. They normally exist in a fine balance, but in PPID horses, that balance is upset - which could cause your horse or pony to have a wide range of subtle c...linical signs: Having an abnormal hair coat that doesn’t shed, or the hair is dull or coarse (hypertrichosis) Abnormal fat deposits around the eyes or base of the tail Excessive drinking and urinating Laminitis Excessive drinking and urinating Lethargy Poor performance If you think your horse or pony may have PPID, call our vets today.

09.01.2022 GREASY HEEL 'Greasy heel' or 'mud fever' is a common condition especially during wet weather. It is characterised by dark coloured scabs that are quite painful to touch. It is usually found on the lower limb of the horse, on the pastern and fetlock areas. It is important to keep the area as clean and dry as possible. As seen in the image below, clipping the surrounding hair assists in keeping the area dry. Scrubbing the area with chlorhexidine can help in clearing up the scabs, and bandaging is beneficial to keep the area dry and to prevent the greasy heel from becoming worse. If your horse is suffering from persistent greasy heel, call the team on 0422154301 to have a chat to our veterinarians and see how we can further help your four legged friend!

06.01.2022 Attention WANTABADGERY/EURONGILLY clients! We have a vet working in your area this Monday the 29th of June. If you would like to book an appointment and save $$ on travel costs, call us now. 0422 154 301

06.01.2022 Meet Kate REVS is excited to introduce our newest member to the team, Dr Kate Robson Kate grew up in the Hawkesbury region of NSW where she actively participated in a range of equine disciplines. Kate could often be found helping with the family’s SB racehorses and broodmares as well as at the racetrack helping work up horses with her dad, who himself is an equine vet. During her working life as a veterinarian, Kate competed an 18 month internship with Randwick Equin...e Centre focusing on equine medicine, surgery and diagnostic imaging advancing her skills across a diverse range of equine veterinary disciplines and discovering her true passion for racetrack practice. Kate joined Warwick Farm Equine Centre in 2018 as an associate veterinarian. Kate brings with her a wealth of knowledge in racetrack practices and will be a valuable asset to the team at REVS ensuring that we continue to provide the highest quality veterinary care and services to racehorse and performance horses across the Riverina. 03.01.2022 It has been a VERY busy month at Twin Hills Stud Cootamundra for our resident super vets Jess Said and Sarah Sutherland. These girls work around the clock ensuring that every horse and foal receives 5 star care each and every time. What Legends!!

03.01.2022 Pain face symptoms: No 5. The muzzle Increased tonus of the lips and tension of the chin during pain stimulus results in a more edged shape of the muzzle.

02.01.2022 Pain face symptoms: No 2. The eyes The muscles around the eye are stretched which gives the upper eyelid a very distinctive angled appearance. This can cause the sclera (white of the eye) to become more evident in the medial canthus (inner angle of the eye).... The stare becomes withdrawn and intense during the induction of pain. See more

01.01.2022 Pain face symptoms: No 4. Face muscle The jaw muscles on the side of the horse’s face become more stressed and marked , especially m. Zygomaticus and m. Caninus, but also m. Masseter may be tense.

01.01.2022 It's beginning to feel a lot like CHRISTMAS!!!! This little fellow is certainly feeling festive after his treatment today!!
