15.01.2022 This farm near Batlow burnt badly in January 2020. Heavy rain followed on the bare, burnt earth, and farmer David Waters was worried that his dam - and the fami...ly of platypus that lived there - would suffer. But the vegetation around the dam helped protect it from erosion and sediment, so it is once again a refuge for wildlife

12.01.2022 To keep up to date with all that's happening in Landcare in the Riverina.

12.01.2022 Some photos of the works being completed by landholders through our Environmental Trust funded project. 07.01.2022 Funding for Farmers for Small Natural Features such as rocky outcrops, farm dams and paddock trees Just a reminder that we still have some limited funds for landholders in the region funding to protect and restore small natural features of their farms. This project may be of particular interest to landholders wishing to protect rocky outcrops and small refuge areas that were not burnt in the recent bushfires or to replace paddock trees that were lost.... With funding from the NSW Governments Environmental Trust, landholders can apply through the Landcare Network for funding of up to $2000 towards the costs of fencing materials, alternative stock water such as troughs, individual stock proof tree guards and the planting of native trees and shrubs. Landholders wishing to participate in this project are encouraged to contact the Riverina Highlands Landcare Network by email [email protected] to receive a copy of the Expression of Interest. Please note limited funds are available. Works will need to be completed by 31st August 2020.

03.01.2022 Transgrid Hume Link As some of you may know, Transgrid is planning to create the Hume Link, which involves huge power lines running through many of our plantings, restoration corridors and habitat renewal areas. In some cases, this may impact on endangered and threatened fauna and flora. If this is of a concern to you, we encourage you to find your farm, comment on the interactive map and have your say. The link is https://humelink.mycommunityengine.com If you would like to express your thoughts further, write to your local member or to Kath Logan, Community Engagement Lead, TransGrid, [email protected]
