24.01.2022 The time has come I have decided to temporarily close my doors due to the risks associated with COVID-19. At this stage I can’t give a time that I will be reopening, but I will do my best to keep everyone updated (via Facebook/email/phone). This has been a very difficult decision, and one that I have been contemplating for a week or so. With the nature of my work I am obviously in physical contact with multiple people and although I’ve been taking measures on top of my usu...al hygiene practices, in the back of my mind is the risk to the health of both my patients and my family, and the implications to the wider community. I feel that physiotherapy is an important service to many, but that the risks currently outweigh the need for my hands-on treatment. As a part of my treatment sessions I always aim to provide advice and exercises to help you at home after all, this is where most of the magic happens! So keep up with the good work And if you’re after some extra ideas while in isolation, here’s a few: > Walking when/where you can (with social distancing) > Check out apps or online videos yoga is always great to help maintain strength and flexibility > Do a video call with a workout buddy > Exercise with what you have at home step-ups and lunges are great and don’t require equipment, even try some star jumps if you’re up for it! > When you get out of a chair, sit back down and then get up without using your hands repeat as many times as you can to help strengthen your legs > Dance to your favourite tunes > Do some gardening Just remember: if you’re trying something new, go slow to start with watch your technique and stop if anything causes pain do something that you enjoy! 23.01.2022 Good news! Having very few new cases of COVID-19 in SA for 2 weeks and increased testing has made me confident to return to consulting. So I am back to my usual Tuesday and Friday appointments. However, I do apologise if I can’t fit you in for an appointment straight away. Those who were previously booked have been my first priority, so my first couple of weeks are quite busy already. However, please feel free to call/text/email I always have a cancellation list.... I feel lucky to be an Australian we seem to have handled the COVID-19 pandemic extremely well so far. Of course, I will still be undertaking strict hygiene practices to ensure continued risk management. I also ask that anyone who is unwell stays at home. Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding while I have been off. It’s good to be back!
