25.01.2022 Exciting waiting for Foal #1 to arrive!! Our beautiful Pip is in foal to Voices W and due today. She is keeping us waiting and guessing!!

25.01.2022 I cannot recall a time when horses were not part of my life... every word of this resonates for me. I would ride my bike a long way to just pat a horse when I was a little girl and being allowed to ride a horse, any horse, was a gift. Horses are a little bit of magic in our lives.

24.01.2022 All systems go at the Equestrian Centre. Our competition season is nearly upon us and early morning sessions are essential to beat the heat.

23.01.2022 Loaded up ready to hit the road.... Great weekend instructing in Mildura. Looking forward to working with these lovely people and horses again in August!

23.01.2022 HOLIDAY CARE While you are away, enjoying the finer things in life and having a well deserved sleep in, let us take care of your horse. We provide holiday care for your Equine friend - have a chat with Vicki about leaving your four legged mate with us over Christmas.... We have paddock turn out & private yards available plus you can ask us to keep your horse in work while you have a break!! Check out the website or make contact via PM.

22.01.2022 Taken from a friends page... Wow. This is powerful and eye opening. Most horses pass from one human to another - some horsemen and women are patient and forgiving, others are rigorous and demanding, others are cruel, others are ignorant.... Horses have to learn how to, at the minimum, walk, trot, canter, gallop, go on trails and maybe jump, to be treated by the vet, all with sense and good manners. Talented Thoroughbreds must learn how to win races, and if they cant do that, they must learn how to negotiate courses and jump over strange obstacles without touching them, or do complicated dance like movements or control cattle or accommodate severely handicapped children and adults in therapy work. Many horses learn all of these things in the course of a single lifetime. Besides this, they learn to understand and fit into the successive social systems of other horses they meet along the way. A horses life is rather like twenty years in foster care, or in and out of prison, while at the same time changing schools over and over and discovering that not only do the other students already have their own social groups, but that what you learned at the old school hasnt much application at the new one. We do not require as much of any other species, including humans. That horses frequently excel, that they exceed the expectations of their owners and trainers in such circumstances, is as much a testament to their intelligence and adaptability as to their relationship skills or their natural generosity or their inborn nature. That they sometimes manifest the same symptoms as abandoned orphans - distress, strange behaviors, anger, fear - is less surprising than that they usually dont. No one expects a child, or even a dog to develop its intellectual capacities living in a box 23 hours a day and then doing controlled exercises the remaining one. Mammal minds develop through social interaction and stimulation. A horse that seems "stupid", "slow", "stubborn", etc. might just have not gotten the chance to learn! Take care of your horses and treasure them. Jane Smiley #dressage #horses

22.01.2022 My gorgeous niece Celina and her friend Hunter had a lovely morning ride with DJ and Honey. I enjoy seeing the girls experience the magic of horses and having fun just as i did as a kid. Learning to ride and getting lots of healthy exercise at the same time!!

21.01.2022 A well written and thought provoking article from Maungatua Equestrian in N.Z. There are no short cuts in training horses, just as the great Masters say in their writings!

21.01.2022 Sad / Happy day as we say au revoir to the charismatic and energetic Zippy. Zippy is one of those once in a lifetime ponies that dance through your world sprinkling their special magic. Zippy has found a lovely home with good friend Anna Jackson. I am sure they will have a wonderful time getting to know one another.... Anna is a dressage rider and coach and is looking forward to working with Zippy and getting out to some Pony Dressage days. Good luck Anna and Zippy, cant wait to see you guys out and about!!

21.01.2022 Our HORSELAND Rider of The Week is lovely Bella Colwill. Bella is a 13yo young rider from Lameroo. She travels an hour and a half for her regular lesson with her Mum Deb. Both Bella and Deb have come a long way not only in distance but also with their riding.... Bella is becoming a lovely rider and works very hard in her lessons. So exciting helping this beautiful young lady grow into a competant horsewoman. Thankyou Horseland Mildura for your support and encouragement of our Riders.

18.01.2022 THIACAN DRESSAGE We pride ourselves on the breeding of quality warmblood horses and ponies. As a boutique breeder we have the time and the desire to be selective with what we breed. Every mating is well researched and has a particular outcome in mind. We breed using the best genetics we can find to complement our brood mares. It is our desire to breed horses and ponies that can take their place alongside their human partner and provide joy and fulfil the purpose for which ...they were bred. We care about what we do and we believe we do it very well. It is our privilege to present for sale youngsters with excellent manners we really know our young stock and take care to ensure they are ready for new homes. All of our young horses and ponies self-load, tie up and all lead beautifully. When you purchase from Thiacan Dressage you buy a horse that has been microchipped, registered and vaccinated. We love our horses and ponies and want you to as well - life is short - live the dream!!

17.01.2022 Exciting times!!!

17.01.2022 Wentworth Pre Show. WOW! What a lot of fun Claire and I had last weekend. We both had a super day and the horses performed very well. The weather was perfect for us following a wet night and blustery saturday of coaching at Redcliffes.... Many thanks to the crew at Wentworth for putting together such well organised show. Thankyou also to Carmel Pethick aka CPhotos who was behind the lens capturing some great moments for us all.

16.01.2022 HORSELAND RIDER OF THE WEEK IZZY SPARROW During my visit to Mildura in July I met 8 year old Izzy, who was very very wary of horses but wanted to learn. She had no experience other than patting her Mums friends horse occasionally. Izzy has the most delightful personality and a very keen sense of humour. Her need to know things is refreshing and her willingness to try even when she is scared is inspiring!! This weekend was Izzys 4th lesson... what a little superstar!! ... Thankyou Horseland for supporting local riders!! See more

15.01.2022 Road trip to watch the action at Wentworth Show. Its a super country show offering dressage, hacking and show jumping as well as breed and ARC classes. Congratulations to Claire Zeppel and Thiacan Der Von Waltz for taking out the Preliminary Championship. So proud of these two, they keep getting better ad better!!!... Another proud breeder moment for me was catching up with Thiacan Donnelle and her lovely owner Julie Robinson who competed in the Show Jumping. This was the first big comp for Julie and Nell and after seeing the video, I think it is the first of many!!! Merryn Zeppel and her marvellous Pumba (OP Kingsman) competed yesterday and today and impressed me with how far they have come as a combination in a few short months. Merryn and Pumba came home with a bunch of ribbons including reserve champion Preliminary Dressage Horse. So many beautiful horses and riders. I loved catching up with friends and really enjoyed being on the ground strapping and watching for a change!!

Busy day for the Equestrian Centre with foal and young horse handling, lessons in the morning and riding in the afternoon. Doing it all over again tomorrow - happy days!!!! .

11.01.2022 HORSELAND RIDER OF THE WEEK 9yo Eira Dalzell has been riding with us for several months now and is showing lots of potential as a rider. She is a keen worker and always happy to help out with any chores around the Centre. Eira has ridden 3 different ponies now during lessons and on each pony she has shown good feel and been able to quickly understand the difference in temperament and energy.... Learning about the care of a pony and how to handle the horses on the ground is as interesting and probably more important than learning to ride Eira is enthusiastic about all aspects of ponies!! Horse riding is not easy! Passion, commitment and a determination to succeed is necessary to make a rider Good on you Eira, I think you have all of these! Our Rider of the Week recieves a lovely gift bag kindly provided by Horseland Mildura. Thank you HORSELAND MILDURA for supporting local Riders!!
