23.01.2022 Sadly, fire is impacting so many parts of NSW at present, however the Sapphire Coast is unaffected at this time and we certainly hope you’ll continue with your ...plans to visit and holiday here this summer. All our coastal and inland towns are open for business and look forward to welcoming you to enjoy the pristine waters, stunning scenery and famed local produce The fishing's great! The water temperature warm and inviting. Beaches clean and sparkling! Our local Visitor Information Centres, accommodation businesses and experience providers are happy to give information on current conditions so if you have any queries or concerns before starting your holiday or road trip, please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 1800 150 457. Access to the Sapphire Coast is currently clear from most directions - Canberra, Cooma, Melbourne and Victoria, and currently the Princes Hwy is open from Sydney. 19.01.2022 A note to all those from Victoria who are concerned about their planned booked holidays in Merimbula or elsewhere on the Sapphire Coast this Christmas and New Y...ears Holiday: The Bega Valley Shire and Sapphire Coast are in the new Victorian COVID regional classification of NSW - "Green Zone" - and while a permit is required by anyone from this area or those visiting our area who intend crossing (or going back home after your holiday) over the border, it is simply a permit registration process and no additional precautions are required. NB: NO QUARANTINE is required in this case - either side of the border. Also note that we are a COVID Safe community and have taken every precaution we can to look after you and our community during this time. Unbeatable Location and House, Helpful Hosts We stayed for a week over 2018 Christmas - my wife and two sons, their wives and our 3 grandchildren - a rare whole family Xmas together. We had high expectations, and they were more than met! The house is superbly located overlooking the river beach and the mouth of the Pambula ...River. The river beach is reached by a short path from the house (<50m). It is safe and terrific for children, protected from the ocean by sand bars at the river mouth. The ocean beach is accessible by walking along the river beach to the river mouth and continuing. The house has been built to maximize the views including from a lovely balcony area. The house is also situated to catch a gentle sea breeze, helping keep us cool on the hot days. The house is superbly designed with 5 bedrooms and a number of discrete living areas all connected and with views. The fittings and facilities are first class. We mainly self-catered - everything we needed was there - and we have some adventurous "chefs" in the family. There is also water equipment including kayak and fitness gear in the garage. This was complemented by some delicious locally produced food placed by Sally and Rob in the fridge when we arrived. Sally and Rob also put up a Xmas tree for us as well as being willing to answer questions and give tips for what to enjoy locally. Rob's family have lived near the river mouth for a few generations. Rob's craft work and family mementos help decorate the house to give it character. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have been to the area a number of times - never in such classy accommodation as this! It is a beautiful and interesting part of Australia. See more
