24.01.2022 Gaining food freedom is no way an easy process that happens overnight. Or in a week! But consciously shifting your focus away from concrete things like numbers... which in itself is never accurate anyway, is a good step to finding food freedom and developing a healthy relationship with food! * Try decreasing the amount of times you use a measuring device, removing scales from your home, and not looking at food labels when shopping

24.01.2022 Whens the last time you chose to eat something purely because it smelled delicious? Or because it looked appealing? We challenge you to block out the diet dialogue and make 1 choice this week that has nothing to do with calories, carbs, or what is labeled by society as bad You might be surprised at how easy, natural and fun it may be :)

23.01.2022 Our first GP presentation in Toowoomba was a blast. Great conversation and questions all around. 1 in 20 people will acquire an eating disorder at one stage during their lifetime. GPs have such a big job as they are often the gatekeepers to one getting the right treatment. Thanks GPs for coming along and sharing your passion to help others with us! @ Toowoomba, Queensland

23.01.2022 We figured it was about time we introduced you to our amazing team! Starting off with the man behind the magic, meet our amazing Founder and Director Shane. We recently sat down over a G&T, to talk about all of the important things. Why did you decide to become a dietitian? The real reason is because doing honours in pharmacology and neuroscience didnt feel like it was going to give me a job. I was pretty into sport and nutrition, so decided to give that a go. And here ...we are! What is your favourite food? Hot chip sandwich What recipe is your most used in your cookbook? Grandmas pancakes. Loaded up with ice cream and maple syrup. All the good stuff! The kids always love this one. Tell us a fun fact about you! I got a hole in one playing golf when I was in my 20s (a TOTAL fluke) in a competition. Whats your favourite part about being your own boss? Choosing my amazing team! I cant wait for you all to meet them. Pictured. Out bush camping! Little me, playing rugby at about 5 years old. This is one of my favourite photos! 23.01.2022 Food OFTEN goes hand in hand with sadness, happiness, and stress for a lot of people. But, if we break down the role food has in our day to day lives, we can narrow it down to food being: 1) functional (daily functions, breathing, blinking, digesting food, walking, holding ourselves up right etc.), and exercise (fueling our muscles and cells to perform the task efficiently), and 2) pleasurable (engaging our senses, finding enjoyment out of flavours and eating with company e...tc.) When food becomes emotional- so using food as a coping mechanism for dealing with how we feel, we can run into some trouble. This behaviour can often lead to developing and eating disorder or disordered eating. If this sounds like you might be on this path- we can help! :) #foodisfood #sportsnutrition #eatingdisorderrecovery #foodisfuel #dietitian #athlete#riveroakhealthway

22.01.2022 The hardest part about change, is sitting with that discomfort until it becomes comfort. But oh man, is it worth hit!

22.01.2022 Please sign this petition today to join us in expressing our TOTAL DISGUST at Kurbo, a weight loss and diet app targeted at kids put out by Weight Watchers. This app is frightening, and has so much potential to cause significant harm to our children, or anyone who uses it.

21.01.2022 A great read from Carrie Dennett with input from Jennifer Gaudiani for GP's and other health professionals to remind ourselves that Anorexia is not bound to one size. I have watched the movie numerous times as a child without issue, however when working at the local cinemas in my late teens, I began to have trouble looking at the ET posters during the 25th anniversary screenings, and found I couldn't walk into the cinema while the movie was showing without having a full body fight or flight reaction! I have googled it (with my eyes half covered in case a picture came up!) and I'm not alone - it's a thing! I remember sitting in a bar in London once and the movie came on the TV, and I had to ask the bartender to switch channels! #toowoombadietitian #brisbanedietitian #dietitian #paediatricdietitian #paediatricnutrition #kidsdietitian #fussyeating #disorderedeating #eatingdisorders #eatingdisorderdietitian

12.01.2022 The biggest topic that gets overlooked in health professional consultations is often one about the context of which you eat a food item or meal. There are many baskets that make up overall health and well-being. Social connection is one of them! This means, that perhaps that traditional meal plan you may be trying to follow is setting up a poor dynamic between you and food. Not sure how this looks for you and your lifestyle? Come in and lets have a chat!

09.01.2022 Why did you decide to become a dietitian? I was diagnosed with coeliac disease (yes the same as Taylah!) when I was about 11 years old. Originally, I wanted to become a chef to help everyone enjoy delicious food that is allergy and Coeliac safe. But, the science lover in me won and I chose dietetics to help teach people how to love the food they can have, rather than stressing about what they cant. So here we are! The thought of having my own little restaurant still cros...sed my mind... so watch this space... What is your favourite food? this is a REALLY tough call. How can you make me pick one?! Probably curry. Of any description. Or anything breakfast-y! What recipe is your most used in your cookbook? banana bread Tell us a fun fact about you! Years ago, I auditioned for the Great Australian Bake Off - I was about two weeks post surgery, in a moonboot, on crutches and lots of pain killers. Somehow, I made it through to the final audition! Alas I didnt make it on the show, but what a thrill. Pictured. Me hiking in Sri Lanka a few years ago, I love travelling and hiking Little me sipping tea and eating Dagwood dogs with mum.
