11.05.2022 Sometimes we have to laugh at ourselves a little!

04.05.2022 Hay is definitely cheaper than fuel at the moment not sure how many shopping bags I could strap to my horse without her losing it though

28.04.2022 So I’ve been a bit quiet in here these past two weeks - it’s been a doozy! There’s a long post ahead We have, for the second year in a row, experienced a record flood. We’ve owned this property for over 20 years with a few minor and moderate floods sprinkled around 10 years of drought. To experience this level of inundation not once, but twice, has been intense, somewhat heartbreaking and definitely exhausting. ... We are so grateful for the infrastructure we have put in place during our time here, it allowed us to keep 16 horses on site, safe and relatively dry. Everyone who has horses in our care has been wonderful, checking in when possible, and I hope you’ve all enjoyed the photos of your loved ones. Sure, I’ve attached a stunning photo of a lovely moment in time but the reality is that now the water is receding we have an entire property that is sepia in colour. Mud and sludge covers every surface. There has been a lot of rubbish wash up on the front of the property and our storage containers that are at the back of the property look like they’ve been tossed around like Lego blocks. We are so lucky to now have power and road access back and that we didn’t have our homes infiltrated by floodwaters (we did have storm water issues though). My heart goes out to the thousands of people who have lost everything, again. Don’t be afraid to offer to help your friends! Just call them and tell them you’re coming around with food or a drink ( or ) In the mean time - go hug a horse!!!! They’re the best way to cure a heartbreak #hawkesburyflood #LetTheCleanupBegin #sendwine

18.04.2022 Top Tip Tuesday when should you get your horses teeth done? I’d love to make a joke about this being straight from the horses mouth but I wouldn’t want to bite off more than I can chew #equestrianlife #TopTipTuesday #showjumper

15.04.2022 #TopTipTuesday This is something I have taught hundreds of times and I will always encourage people to act with safety in mind when dealing with horses (or all animals really) Has anyone every explained this to you properly?

13.04.2022 Surely it’s not just me

10.04.2022 I want to start a new thing let’s get going with Top Tip Tuesday Let me know what you want a top tip on, write it in the comments and I’ll do a response #TopTipTuesday #equestrianlifestyle

25.01.2022 We’re not going to make it to Waratah this weekend but I am so proud of how our babies are coming along under the expert guidance of Dave and Krissy! Look at that - 2 RR bred horses in the 5/6yo today makes my heart sing RR Monster is out of RR Dyranta and RR Coraki out of the greatly missed Top Lady R.

25.01.2022 Who’s got good vibes on a Saturday? Tex does! A nice after ride icing with vibes plus an equissage. He was perky like this right before he went to sleep enjoying his pamper session. Happy Horses = Happy Humans

24.01.2022 If you want to get the most out of a New Year, Fresh Start... Have a serious think about HOW you will do these things I can’t wait to see what we all achieve in 2021

23.01.2022 Suns out Saddles on Who’s keen for work (looks like one wanted the day off...)

23.01.2022 Remember these? Yes, some of our horses like a little more personal space when out in public. I still have some here with me so if you too would like a bit more space than the warm-up sometimes provides naturally then get one (or more) of these beauties. Details are below - for collection, I can give them to you next time we are at a show (i.e. not in lockdown) or I am happy to pop in the post. ... Message Me to arrange what would suit you best

23.01.2022 Life hack Thursday stuffing hay bags can be super annoying. Try our top tip in the video and see how easy it can be! Let me know if you’ve tried it

23.01.2022 So much persistent rain... summerrrrrr... come backkkkk What’s your favourite rainy day activity in between feeding horses and changing in to dry clothes? The paddocks are lush with plentiful grass and everything is growing faster than we can mow /hedge /whippersnip it, I cannot complain! Still much better than breathing smoke like we did for months last summer. ... #rainraingoaway #greengrass #wetwetwet

22.01.2022 We have our Jumping Team for Tokyo! Huge congratulations to all involved, we can't wait to cheer you on!

22.01.2022 It’s a showjumping kinda day! Yay for another competition. We’ve got 4 horses tied to the truck today - we welcome ‘twinkle toes’ to the life of a competition horse for her first time on the truck as a life experience. Amy, Maggie and Tex will get to strut their stuff over the coloured poles

22.01.2022 Loving my new sun smart ariat shirts! What’s your fav piece of riding apparel? Is it old and functional or just makes you feel great when you wear it?

22.01.2022 So who has that horse that requires a little more ‘personal space’ than your average gee gee? How good would it be to have an obvious warning sign... well here it is. The Red Tail Bows have arrived! $17.00 each plus postage (or $15 each if you purchase more than one). They can also be collected from Wilberforce or I can drop some off to SSJC this weekend, or next time it’s running. Send me a PM and I can have these in your hot little hands next week

21.01.2022 How are your horses enjoying the recent rain ... a couple of mine look like this most days Sorry Ayla

21.01.2022 Chrissie is often sharing things of great value and this post was no different. Coaching riders of all ages seems straight forward. It Is Not. Getting someone to do something when they’re standing on solid ground is one thing, getting them to do it on the back of a moving animal is another thing altogether. ... Fear is very real - fight or flight response is not optional. We are human and this is normal. What’s not normal is re-programming our mind to be able to override these responses. It’s hard, sometimes darn near impossible. But when it happens, it’s truly amazing. THIS is why we coach

21.01.2022 Ok I’ve been beaten in to submission, I was going to throw these out but someone may want them... $15 each or we will do a deal if you want a couple of them. they’re no longer waterproof but if to you have stabled horses (maybe young ones that are likely to destroy anything nice you bestow upon them) that need extra layers then these will be perfect. Pickup from Wilberforce. ... Comment SOLD on the item you would like

19.01.2022 Personally I can’t wait to see this announcement it’s been a rough and rocky road to Tokyo 2020/2021

19.01.2022 Dr Brad is not only an incredible mind but passionate about horses, riders and our sport. I believe he will make a great addition to the board - make sure you actually vote if you’re a financial member of ENSW

17.01.2022 We had a fun in the Richmond Lowlands yesterday for a return to sport. RR Amoretus (still for sale) was on form and my support crew managed to get a good video of her in the 1.20! RR Magnifique is getting some more experience in the 1.20's with a lovely double clear (of course I went too slow lol) Boseda - Paula's little red rocket was so good in the 95 and showing he is ready to see some bigger jumps in the near future! ... I'm so lucky to have in incredible team of horses and the best support crew (even if Cameron did tell me Dave rides one of our horses better than me ) Can't wait to get back out again in a couple of weeks!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU2SZZ_azA8

17.01.2022 I am very excited to announce that at 8.30pm Monday Night I will be interviewing the amazing Annette Maunder & Jane Frankum for all things JNSW Summer Show 2020. The interview will be broadcast live here and the replay will be shared on various pages to share what's happening. We will be chatting about how this show will not be the usual Summer Classic but a Covid Summer Show - the best version we can make it to include as many horses and riders as possible and finish the year strong. See you here tomorrow night where you will be able to interact with us LIVE

16.01.2022 So many patient animals here at RR We all love Christmas!

15.01.2022 JNSW Committee members are working hard to make this happen - no-one is giving up yet!

15.01.2022 Looking much more arena-like with fencing in and now it’s time for irrigation! So so close to being done

15.01.2022 A live interview with the Ladies in know JNSW President Annette Maunder and VP Jane Frankum.

14.01.2022 I've seen a lot of 'final show of the year posts' and I thought I better join in! Jumping at SIEC for the end of the year is always a goal for all of us riders - it's the big build up and generally the courses are tougher, the gear lighter and a lot more atmosphere in the main ring. This year was a little pared back as a result of Covid but the courses in the main ring were excellent! Mark Atkins did a super job. Some of the courses in ring two were quite tricky for their tar...get market but I am so lucky to be on some super horses who jumped incredibly well anyway. RR Amoretus was soooooo good in the 1.25m on the first day- shame I still seem to be in go slow mode (even when I think I'm going really fast!). We had a minor hiccup at the start of the 1.30m but she jumped most of the course unreal; it was super fun to be back in the big ring and some medium sized jumps again. RR Magnifique was wonderful, my drill sergeant bootcamp has really paid off with her rideability and she is growing in confidence, plus notching up loads of clear rounds (even when the jumps were trying to blow over around us!) Boseda (Tex to his friends) is a truly clever red rocket! He is just stepping up to 1.10m's and he feels like he's been doing it for ages. Not a rail touched and he even came home with a ribbon - the breadwinner, so to speak! I couldn't possibly find a better picture than this to sum up the weekend so I borrowed it - Thanks Paula. I also love my RR team, the many friends I see when we're out and about and everyone who wished me well during what has been a tough couple of weeks for our family. Now for a break, plenty of teaching to be done, a young horse or two to bring back in to work and my gosh.... the mowing that seems to be never ending. Wishing you all the most wonderful, joyous holiday season. Take care of yourselves and make sure you hug a horse everyday

14.01.2022 An ominous looking sky Nevertheless I’m all set for a jump day tomorrow

11.01.2022 I bet we all have camera rolls full of photos of our horses this was a fantastic one I got this morning while unrugging Let’s do a Saturday Selfie post. Share your favourite selfie with you and your four legged friend below

11.01.2022 Around here ‘help’ comes in many forms: sometimes more of a hindrance to be honest but they’re so cute who could be upset?!? In case the photo is unclear, Annabelle was resting on Arnie... on the arena... while I was trying to jump a horse. Cameron was also running ahead of me showing the horse ‘how to do it’ by jumping xrails! Thankfully our horses are all pretty kid proof by now

10.01.2022 Hello all you lovely friends I’m on the lookout for an incredible pony/Galloway for the nicest family. This pony will be loved by the best 11 y/o girl who wants something super safe, done it all and ready to have so much fun at pony club. The lucky would live at River Ridge, the best of homes is a sure thing. ... Let me know what you’ve got (I’m hoping someone’s child has outgrown their pony and they’re getting an upgrade for Xmas )

09.01.2022 Omg irrigation is in... turf mulch and fibre next then the waiting game for it to settle and establish. Can’t wait to start running some training days / clinics / mini comps in the new year

09.01.2022 There are so many reasons to love NRF2 ... improving people’s lives makes me happy dance C’mon who wouldn’t want to sleep better, ache less and have more energy to do the things we love!?! Drop me a ‘more info’ below and I can tell you what I’m talking about

09.01.2022 A live interview with the Ladies in the know JNSW President Annette Maunder and VP Jane Frankum.

08.01.2022 Back home for early lessons today! Gotta love having a gorgeous girl and her equally gorgeous pony getting in the Christmas spirit

05.01.2022 The arena fencing was getting installed today... WAS. Instead it’s wet wet wet again On a happy note, we have a cute new agistor arriving today! Photos to come

05.01.2022 No random grass photos today... it’s dirt photos now 50x80 come at me I cannot wait to start running training days, patience is not my strong suit

05.01.2022 Let's not forget this...

05.01.2022 Exciting times here at RR We’re having an influx of fresh faces this month and the first to arrive was the adorable pocket rocket Frodo! Frodo and his human Tilly are just gorgeous and we are so looking forward to helping them find their wings Thanks for trusting us with your special little man Adam and Tilly

04.01.2022 Does anyone know somewhere / someone who re-waterproofs rugs? I have a bunch that are fairly new but no longer as waterproof as they once were.

04.01.2022 Oh My Goodness... It’s shorts weather! I hope you’re not blinded by the whiteness of my legs but I wanted to remind everyone to slap on some sunscreen AM and PM to protect your precious skin.... I love my long sleeve shirts and helmet visor to also protect me, seeming as I’m outside A LOT. Happy happy spring days everyone

04.01.2022 The lovely Clare Watkinson and Paula Ivanovic have joined me for another trip to the fabulous Stonewall. As always - that’s so much for having us Krissy Harris

03.01.2022 Sometimes they just strike a pose without even knowing how beautiful they look I just love horses, how they help me have wings to fly, how they challenge me physically and mentally and how they force me to get out in to nature and keep me sane (well that’s questionable ) What’s your favourite thing about horses?

01.01.2022 So much truth - I say to myself ‘I am the reasonable one here... so I must stay calm’

01.01.2022 For anyone who is super excited for the new NorthConnex here’s a little fact check ... to bypass Sydney will now cost, anything over a car, $60.50 for M7, M2 then NorthConnex. One way Don’t get me wrong - I AM excited at the time savings and nicer drive for the horses on board but not super thrilled about the tolls. I did post a while ago about rebates for recreational vehicles so make sure you look in to that with the ‘RTA’ as it could help save you some

01.01.2022 So I wish I had a fancy name for this like ... the pathway to progression... or mindful meander... but the reality is that this walk back up to the tie ups after each ride is an integral part of my day and training. This is the time I take to reflect on my ride, how did I do, how was my horse today and are we getting closer to our goals??? It’s great to have goals but if you don’t asses where you’re at, regularly, or think about what you’re actively doing to head in the righ...t direction, you won’t actually ‘get there’. Make sure you have plans - like what day of the week will be for a serious school, new skills for you or your horse? What day will you focus on fitness, or will you have a regular Wednesday wander instead of a pressure ride on the arena. Have a plan, or you’re planning to fail. Make time for being mentally prepared for each horse and what they need, and you will find it easier to hit your checkpoints or benchmarks along the way. Happy horsing and now that the guidelines have been relaxed I hope to see you all out and about soon
