25.01.2022 First swarm of the season. Pretty sure Ollie has definitely learnt you need boots to avoid getting stung on the ankles...

25.01.2022 Swarm season is well and truly here! With the coming warmer weather, there will be more swarms on the move, so keep an eye out As always, we are happy to help if you have some unwanted bees. All our rescued bees get rehomed in a new hive and are well cared for. We collect swarms for free but won't turn down a small token of appreciation to help cover fuel and equipment costs. For established hives or difficult to reach bees, we charge a small fee to cover our time and equip...ment. For all our new bees, we firstly pop them in a new box then leave them until after dark. Once it is dark and cold enough, 99.9% of the bees will have returned to their new home ensuring the maximum amount of bees are removed. This keeps both bees and humans happy! As WA is one of 2 places in the world from which bees can be exported, we are advocates for well-informed beekeeping practices. This means ensuring we manage our hives properly and requeen and quarantine all new hives before moving them to a new apiary site. We are always happy to have a chat if you are curious

23.01.2022 Hi all, a few months ago I asked my dad to make us a top bar hive. He's happy with the finished result and has decided to see if anybody would want to purchase one. He is happy to customise the hive to your preferences, such as position of bee entries, screen bottom, etc. Please see the comments attached to the photos for more details. The hive in the photos is going for $900. We can arrange for it to include a nuc hive if desired. Please pm me for more details or if you wish to view it, as my father is not on Facebook. Delivery can be organised if required.

23.01.2022 Struggling to find a Christmas present for someone who has everything? Why not spoil them with local raw honey. Our hives are located in Armadale, High Wycombe and Beckenham. All our honey is cold filtered to keep all the goodness in it. We have 500g squeeze bottles for $8 or 1kg tubs for $15 Location Ferndale

22.01.2022 With all our last season honey gone and the new season starting soon, we purchased a whole heap of new boxes and frames. Fingers crossed we get them all assembled and painted before the flow hits full force!

21.01.2022 Very late season swarm collected from a local park. Fingers crossed they survive winter as they are tiny! All our hives are ready for winter which has given us the chance to try new things. A visit down to Albany resulted in obtaining candle moulds - an owl and a beehive. 100% pure beeswax candles :) We still have some summer harvest honey available. 1kg tubs as well as 500g squeezy bottles.

20.01.2022 After filling our back orders we only have 2 and a half kg of honey left from our first harvest of the season! Please let us know if you want any - we have a 1 kg tub and 3 500g squeezy bottles :)

19.01.2022 Honey from 2 different locations. One is from Viveash area on the river and the other is Beckenham area on the river. Both honey's were harvested at the end of November and have been cold filtered to remove wax. Raw, unprocessed honey. 1kg tub $15... 500g squeezy bottle $8 2x 500g squeezy bottle for $15

19.01.2022 Sometimes things don't go to plan. Our neighbour had a trap out setup and unfortunately the colony wasn't strong enough to fight mother nature's other insects. However, we must remember that honey bees are details in Australia which is why it's important to have apiarists to monitor them and ensure Australian honey and bees remain the cleanest in the world!

16.01.2022 Can you spot the queen in both photos? With plenty of flowers in bloom, alongside gorgeous sunny days, our hives are gearing up for the season. Some already have drones which is a sign of how well they survived over winter! We are shaking things up a bit this year and will be chasing Jarrah flowers as well as selling some nucs (all with queen's bred from the Rottnest line).... Keep an eye out for our first honey of the season!

16.01.2022 Christmas giveaway! With such a great start to the season and to celebrate our first child, we will be giving away a 1kg tub to a lucky follower. The person will be chosen on December 22. To have a chance to win, please like our page and share this post!

15.01.2022 We have about 100kg of honey for sale. Our first harvest of the season sold out within minutes so be quick to grab some! Ferndale 500g squeeze bottle $8... 1kg tub $15 See more

14.01.2022 Have you come home to find bees in your house or yard? And somehow you don't remember approving these new tenants? We remove as many colonies as we can to avoid exterminations and save the bees, so shoot us a message and we will get in touch :)

12.01.2022 What a crazy week for swarms! Walked through a swarm on the move at the carpark at work, collected (yet another) wine barrel of bees and had a very kind beek pick up a swarm for us in a cardboard box last night. On top of that we rescued a swarm in Applecross from a tree on the grounds of St Benedict's Church - happy little ladies who very quickly moved into their new home. Swarming bees are the most docile bees you will come across. They are on the hunt for a new home and have no hive to protect. Perhaps the best time to see them up close and personal!

12.01.2022 Back from our holidays and have taken fully capped frames from half of our hives. So far 41kg of honey, with more waiting to be bottled. Didn't get the chance to take photos before my mum took 30kg to restock her supplies. So, if you want summer harvest honey, let us know! Available from Ferndale or Viveash :)

11.01.2022 Somehow I always forget to take photos when working with our ladies, yet I remember to take photos of our pup standing on a tree trunk.. It was super exciting to see the difference in temperament of our requeened hives - no fuss at all when I was pulling them apart looking for Her Majesty and cooing over the baby blonde bees. Looking forward to letting Ollie work the hives so I can photos on our next checkup in a couple of weeks.

10.01.2022 Over 20kg from our latest harvest and we did up some special jars with honey comb in them :)

09.01.2022 Hot days give us the chance to paint boxes and lids and bases. Technically something we should have done over winter, but the best laid plans always come undone! A quick look at the hives yesterday showed that despite this being touted as the worst honey flow in 50 years, our bees are managing well and don't require supplements. Having requeened some of our hives, it was great to see one of our Rottnest daughter Queens and note that all except one hive are much calmer and b...etter behaved. With happy, calm bees in mind, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

07.01.2022 Hi everyone, We are looking for properties bigger than 2000m to put some beehives on. The property owner would be reimbursed with honey! Please message us or comment on this post if you have a suitable property. Thank you!

07.01.2022 We've been busy gathering more bees and are watching our established hives flourish with the flow. Looking forward to expanding enough to use a new apiary site surrounded by orchards. We should have new season honey ready in a few weeks :)

05.01.2022 A swarm rescued from a compost bin. Very calm little darlings - we simply scooped them up with our hands and popped them in their new home. Vivien was a wonderful lady who sent us away with marmalade, chutney, freshly baked fruit buns and a lavender bush!

05.01.2022 Honey bees seem to love choosing bird boxes as their new homes!

05.01.2022 September is here and the new season is already in full swing! If you see a swarm on the move (usually something youd avoid as there are thousands of bees flying everywhere), dont break out the bug spray as swarming bees are the calmest bees you will come across. With no home or brood to protect, swarming bees are simply on the lookout for a new home. Of course, even we wouldnt stand in the middle of a bunch of flying bees because lets face it - bees and hair are not a go...od mix... Should they decide to take up residence at your place, we are quite happy to remove them for you and rehome them on one of our sites. We have new homes ready to go and will come and visit you twice. Firstly, we will visit sometime during the day to get the queen into her new home. We will then return after theyve all gone to bed and remove them, hive and all. This practice ensures we get as many of the bees as possible, leaving none of them homeless and your home bee free. Please contact Jen on 0415 547 600 or Ollie on 0416 657 226 or message us through Facebook :)

04.01.2022 Busy bees! Comb was built in a few days. The warmer weather has given us the chance to try and convince them our supers are fancier homes than the bird boxes. So far, the bees aren't convinced...

03.01.2022 Sometimes you have to think outside the box - we assumed a swarm was higher up in a tree and brought the bike in case we needed to strap a box to it for the bees. Turns out they just needed some artificial rain and pep talks. Thankfully our 2nd swarm of the day was an easy shake out of a tree and gave us an excuse to go out for dinner!

02.01.2022 What a bountiful season! We are drowning in red gum (marri) honey! Due to the abundance, we are selling 3kg tubs for $40 as well as 27kg buckets at $11/kg. Please get in contact if you would like any honey We are located SoR, need Cannington

02.01.2022 Amidst the cloud of COVID19 we are offering no contact pick up and a cheeky little reminder of the benefits of honey: Even if you stockpile honey, it will last years and years! Honey has antibacterial properties due to bees depositing hydrogen peroxide as they synthesize flower pollen. This means it is great to use on grazes or wounds as well! It is a great way to soothe a sore throat.... Honey contains plant chemicals that act as antioxidants which help slow the aging process! It's yummy and is better for you than sugar. We still have a few 27+kg buckets at $11/kg as well as our normal range of 3kg tubs for $40, 1kg tubs for $15 and 500g squeezy bottles for $8. Pickup is Ferndale, near Cannington.
