25.04.2022 Pieris japonica 'Variegata' A graceful evergreen shrub with soft green leaves edged with a cream colour. Flower buds decorate the plant before opening into delicate cascades of small, white vase shape flowers in late winter. New growth is a vibrant pink. We have some available for you today! 17.03.2022 For a real punch of colour in the cool dreary winter months, you cannot look past Polyanthus. They produce many lovely flowers in bright vibrant colours from pinks, reds, blues, yellows and white, all with a contrasting bright yellow centre or eyes. Very popular with kids due to their bright and cheerful appearance. Only $2.50 each!

08.03.2022 Fresh off the truck this morning! Bush candles. Banksia spinulosa is a woody, medium shrub, usually multi-stemmed. In an open area it becomes a compact, symmetrical shrub but in dense shade it can become spindly and tall. The cylindrical flower spikes are 6-7cms wide x 6-15ms tall, yellow to golden in colour and appear over a short period from Autumn through early Winter. ... Woody cones follow the flowers. The long, narrow, green leaves are linear and almost pine needle like. Good as specimen plantings in Australian native gardens, as informal screens or for bush regeneration. Great food source for bees and nectar feeding birds and good shelter for small birds. Tolerates soils ranging from light through to moderately heavy with good moisture and drainage.

02.03.2022 This rainy weather looks good on the photinia. Photinia is one of the ‘big 5’ hedging plants. They are seen everywhere due to their hardy, frost tolerant, drought tolerant, pest and disease free nature. The brilliant red new growth after pruning is an extra feature which makes it interesting to the eye together with its small white flowers that appear in spring. Photinia really is the perfect hedge plant!

What an incredible photo, displaying a process called guttation, which happens at night when the soil is very moist, the roots absorb water and root pressure causes the water to squeeze out of the plant and onto the tips or sides of the leaf.

08.02.2022 The Teddy Bear Magnolia is a very compact grower with an upright, conical habit with small to medium, shiny, dark green oval leaves. The leaf back is reddish brown and heavily felted. When the plants are 3-4 years old they produce flowers from November to May. These lovely fragrant flowers are 150-200mm wide. Come down today to Morrisset St and see the other varieties we have of these amazing growers.

25.01.2022 The sweet peaLathyrus odoratusis an annual flower that is at home in a cutting garden, border garden, woodland, or twining on a trellis or an arch. The flowers are now available in a huge range of colors, from pearly white through ice cream pastels to ritzy magentas and inky purples. Their dainty winged blossoms are matched only by their honey and orange blossom perfume. The combination of the delightful scent and the ability to produce so many blooms for the house over a long period of cutting has ensured their popularity. We have these Sweet Pea options available at the moment. Even though the traditional planting date is usually St Patrick’s Day - you can still pop these babies in to have them ready for spring!
