Following on from that, STAS have made a decision to allow our 'casual members' to compete in the up...coming Regional Championships, 9th September. 01.01.2022 Tasmania’s Commonwealth Games silver medallist Jake Birtwhistle has produced a barnstorming finish to snatch bronze in the World Triathlon Series race in Mont...real this morning. The 23-year-old is now sitting in second place overall in the race for the world title which will be decided on the Gold Coast next month when over 5000 triathletes converge onto the 2018 Commonwealth Games city for the ITU Grand Final. Birtwhistle ran down South African Olympian Richard Murray in the final 250 metres with his training partner, Spain’s Mario Mola Díaz producing an extraordinary performance in the 10km run to successfully chase down breakaway leader Kristian Blummenfelt of Norway after training by over a minute at the start of the 10km run. It was Birtwhistle’s third podium of the season and he is now in the box seat to become the first Australian male to earn a place on the WTS podium since Brad Kahlefeldt finished third in 2010. Birtwhistle was full of praise for Mola, his training partner, who recorded his fourth win of the season. Mola will head to the Gold Coast from September 13-16 primed to take out his third WTS title.
