25.01.2022 WHM is disappointed that Chemistwarehouse has partnered with a national telehealth company to provide consultations to their patients. This risks fragmentation ...of patient care which has been shown in numerous studies to lead to poorer patient health outcomes. WHM, like the majority of General Practices in Launceston, will always assist patients when they need urgent care or scripts or other health advice. Given that Chemistwarehouse is actively undermining local General Practice with this partnership we will no longer support their corporate business model which will mean we will no longer communicate with Chemistwarehouse pharmacies. This means no faxing or posting of scripts (including for Webster packing). WHM recognises that patients are free to choose where they fill their scripts but ask that patients consider the impact of their choices and make an active decision to support local business.

23.01.2022 There is a lot of concern in the community regarding the urgency of flu immunisations. At this time there is minimal influenza activity in Tasmania. Social dist...ancing means that the flu should not be spreading as readily as in other years. We understand that everyone would like to receive their flu immunisation as soon as possible. We have set up specific flu clinics to provide this service and maintain social distancing. Please remember that we are supplied with limited numbers of vaccines, there are delays in receiving them from Victoria and we have a finite number of staff. It is not helpful if our hardworking staff who put themselves at risk everyday are abused for situations out of their control. Please remember that no one deserves a serve. Any negative comments will be removed from our Facebook page. We will continue to provide all of our valued patients with quality medical care. We thank our patients who have been understanding and supportive during this difficult time.

The safet...y of our staff and patients will ALWAYS be our number one priority 2. We ask that patients allow 3 days for prescription requests 3. If you need to collect scripts/paperwork from the practice please DO NOT ENTER the building if you have recently travelled from overseas or mainland Australia in the last 14 days OR if you have any flu like symptoms. Instead please phone reception on 6327 2947 to arrange collection. 4. When phoning the practice you will be asked a number of triage questions, we appreciate your co-operation while we go through these with you. Reception may put you through to the nurse for further triage. 5. Pre-booked PHONE consultations are now available via the HotDoc app. Please select your regular GP ONLY for these consultations or your appointment may be cancelled. It is women’s health week this week so to celebrate Helen has joined her colleagues at the Launceston Women’s Health clinic and Physio Fit in the Jean Hailes challenge to walk around Australia. ... They have created the #mapoftasmaniawalk in an effort to walk a combined distance of 1500km. We know how important Jean Hailes is as an organisation providing evidence-based women’s health information for both health professionals and women in the community, they said. We loved the idea of doing something to raise money, but also raise awareness of the importance of self-care and exercise for women Women’s Health Clinic staff said. Jean Hailes for Women’s Health remains guided by their namesake’s wise words on the importance of helping all women in Australia to be as healthy as they can be. 10.01.2022 Medication Update We have moved our modified release paracetamol Osteo 665mg otherwise known as Panadol Osteo, Osteo Relief or Osteomol, behind the counter. Please note that this is a decision made by TGA (not our pharmacy) and we must follow this new rule.... What does this mean for you? You can still purchase this product over the counter WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION, however you will have ask one of our friendly staff for this product, we will have a chat to ensure this is the right medication for you. This helps us to keep you safe and make sure you are achieving the best pain management for you. All formulations of our paracetamol are remaining unchanged and we have plenty of stock, so no need to worry. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call or pop in and say hi!

10.01.2022 Goodbye, Farewell, Good Luck and Happy Retirement to our wonderful Peter Bond. Today is Peter’s last day of work before his retirement. Peter has been a pharmacist for 40 year in our West Tamar community. He has watched as children have grown into adults and have children of their own. All of the staff at Riverside and Windsor Pharmacy wish him all the best and will miss him dearly. If you’d like to see Peter before he goes he will be at the Windsor Pharmacy from 9-5.30 today.

08.01.2022 Vale Gary Cleveland, 1930-2020 Founder Design Tasmania It is with great sadness that the Board & Trust of Design Tasmania announce the passing of our founder, G...ary Ogle Cleveland on Friday 3rd April after a short illness. We mourn the loss of a visionary leader whose paradigm shifting thinking resulted in the creation of our organisation. Chair Mel Kerrison asked former Chair Dr Pippa Dickson, close friend to Gary, to prepare this tribute: "Gary was a visionary. He had a cat-like ability to see in the dark, and an enormous belief that each individual had the capacity to effect momentous change. Gary’s intellect and curiosity gave him enduring energy. He leapt across conceptual fences unscalable for most of us but, he would be there to lend a hand, and to pull us up. He was always challenging the shape of our beliefs and knowledges. Hugely focused on social good and the collective, he stoutly believed in the responsibility, power and position of organisations to influence community, society and government. Gary always had a call to action. Through his paradigm shifting thinking he proposed a ‘Heart Centre’ to be created at Design Tasmania. He was successful in the creation of this idea because he surrounded himself with those who innately understood his values and were prepared to take them forward. Gary’s death at this time brings into sharp relief his principles and the importance of community, family, friendships and connecting. He had a way to mobilise people that is unlike anyone I have ever met. I am so very grateful to have had the privilege to have shared in his wisdom, to be a tiny part of the expansive universe he existed in and continues to permeate and transform" Our love and gratitude at this sad time go to Gary’s children, Lou, Jo and Rick, his grandchildren and great grandchildren and to his former wife Pat, co-founder of Design Tasmania. Design Tasmania will hold a public memorial service upon lifting of COVID19 restrictions.

That means we are limited in how many script repeats we can issue for a significant number of products, and some over-the-counter medicines too. Our workflow and access to pharmacies will be modified to support the safety of our staff, patients, and communities. This is and will always be our priority.
