10.04.2022 Learners & Supervising Drivers A reminder to teach/remind your learner drivers the importance of scanning the road with their eyes, particularly around parked cars for pedestrians. Today, as I was doing a driving lesson, I witnessed a toddler standing on a nature strip watching the traffic go by with no adult in sight ... Other times I’ve seen a toddler walking in the bicycle lane in the shade on busy Wilmot road. The most horrifying time was braking for my learner driver as the car in front of us had to brake for a toddler stepping out onto Wyndham street Because of this, I’m also a big supporter of the new 40km/h zones in the CBD. #slowdown Stay safe

29.03.2022 APRIL - fully booked for the rest of the month. MAY - I’m unable to take on any new students. Existing students please book in advance, my diary is filling up quickly. ... ** All vouchers issued at Christmas time 2020 are encouraged to be used before I go on leave in August please Thanks

22.03.2022 DRIVE TESTS SUSPENDED....

19.03.2022 BOOKING DEPOSITS & CANCELLATION FEES As of 2021, I will be requesting a booking deposit to secure your lessons.... I live 20-30 minutes out of town and have to arrange child care for my baby, so cancellations or no shows can be quite inconvenient. I understand that sometimes, unexpected delays can occur, and schedule adjustments are needed. If you need to cancel your appointment, i respectfully request at least 2 hours notice. OUR POLICY: Any cancellation or reschedule made less than 2 hours will result in a cancellation fee. The amount of the fee will be equal to 50% of the reserved services or $30, whichever is more. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your service, I may not be able to accommodate you. In this case, the same cancellation fee will apply. I will do my very best to reschedule your service for another time that is convenient to you. We require 50% of the lesson to be paid upon booking to secure your date and time. In the event of a true, unavoidable emergency, all or part of your cancellation fee may be applied to future services. Thanks for your understanding

I’m unable to take on any new clients for January, but if you require an instructor for lessons or tests- please contact me for recommendations

07.02.2022 - CHANGING LANES * Check mirrors * Indicate * Head check ... * Move vehicle when safe to do so * Check mirrors Watch this 1 minute video for examples. - FORMING 1 LANE, or also called ZIP MERGING When you are zip merging, you must give way to a vehicle which has any part of its vehicle ahead of yours. Zip merging is when two rows of vehicles merge into one, and there are no lines marked on the road. You are not zip merging if you cross any lines marked on the road. If you do cross lines marked on the road you must follow the give way rules for changing lanes. - VicRoads website

22.01.2022 Good news. From Monday 15 June, VicRoads will start running licence tests again. Couple of points on this: If your test was cancelled, VicRoads will get in touc...h to give you first priority to re-book. That's only fair. We're opening six temporary licensing sites and hiring more than 200 new staff to get through the backlog as quickly as possible. Once that's cleared, new appointments will be made available. And we're introducing extra cleaning and hygiene measures to make sure there's minimal risk for everyone involved. I know this has been frustrating for a lot of people. For mums and dads, kids who had that special birthday and anyone who has been working towards their licence and had to face an uncertain wait. But I just wanted to thank you for your patience while we get everything back up and running safely.

16.01.2022 HEAD CHECKS Parents and supervising drivers, head checks are a crucial skill for safety that your learner drivers need to know. ... Mirrors don’t really show you everything behind and beside you. There are blind spots and you may not be able to see a small vehicle like a motorcycle or bicycle. WHAT IS A HEAD CHECK ? You need to be able to do a head check by turning your head, to the left or right and quickly looking over your shoulder to make sure that the space you are about to move into is not occupied. WHEN DO YOU DO A HEAD CHECK? This applies when you are changing lanes, pulling out from the kerb, turning, or temporarily entering a bicycle or bus lane. Turning from the waist to do a head check, instead of just turning your head will make it easier to see traffic. When you are getting into or out of your car, you must not cause a hazard for any person or vehicle including cyclists when opening your door. That’s why a head check is essential. It can be a life saver. ** Info combined from VicRoads website.
