19.01.2022 Sorry to get political on Father's Day guys but we feel that this is rather important. Peter Dutton wants to take mobile phones away from refugees in detention. He claims this is to stop the spread of drugs and illicit items. A total lie. Phones are a lifeline for refugees in detention and are as important as basic needs such as water, food and energy. The AMA says detainees are a high-risk group for suicide and self-harm and that removing phones would make it difficult ...to maintain contact with people who support their mental health and wellbeing. Lock down has been pretty hard for most of us but imagine not being able to even communicate with family and friends by phone. Dutton is a prick and he shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. Senator Jacquie Lambie has the deciding vote so if you can please follow this link and tell her to let refugees keep their phones. RF x

18.01.2022 This week we acknowledge and celebrate #NAIDOC week at Riverside. The theme for this year is #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe As some of you know our pastured egg farming business is a partnership between Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people. This means we have had to acknowledge, confront and work through our shared histories and past. At times this has been uncomfortable, confronting and at times painful, but has resulted in deeply enriched relationships, based on shared values and ...a commitment to do our part. We are determined, and we embed our values in the way we live and run our business. We acknowledge that Riverside Farm exists on the traditional lands of the Peramangk people. In all our activities we pay respect to the traditional custodians. We are committed to caring for country. This is reflected in our regenerative farming practices, using only what we need, and holding land for native flora and fauna to thrive. We are also committed to reducing our carbon footprint through partnering with organisations such as Ecologi. We are a proud Aboriginal business, and we are proud to partner with Aboriginal organisations and employ Aboriginal people. We strive to build our profile and visibility as an Aboriginal business in a predominantly non-Indigenous business landscape. We are committed to keeping an open mind and learning, for this is the way we come together, heal and celebrate. Wishing everyone a happy and safe NAIDOC week. 13.01.2022 So proud of how far we have come despite some obstacles along the way. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on our little journey. It means so much and we wouldn't be where we are today without all of you. And...this is just the beginning! We've got some different ideas on the boil so let's change the face of farming and agriculture!... RF x

10.01.2022 Hello! We are on the hunt for some new Maremma pals to join our ever growing feathered and fluffy family. Ideally at least 2 years old give or take and trained with livestock and/or chickens. Preferably ones that don't wander too much and will be very dedicated to their ladies. If you have any leads or know of anyone who has Maremmas available please let us know!... RF x

08.01.2022 "...whenever i hear people say clean food is expensive, I tell them it's actually the cheapest food you can buy. That always gets their attention. Then I explain that with our food all the costs are figured into the price. Society is not bearing the cost of water pollution, of antibiotic resistance, of food borne illnesses, of crop subsidies, of subsidised oil and water - all of the hidden costs to the environment and the taxpayer that make cheap food seem cheap. No thinking person will tell you they don't care about all that. I tell them the choice is simple: You can buy honestly priced food or you can buy irresponsibly priced food."
