19.01.2022 Artist Spotlight On Julie Lea Goodwin! Julie is a principal soprano with Opera Australia. In 2019, she featured as Maria in the outdoor production of West Side Story on Sydney Harbour. For Opera Australia, she revisited the roles of Musetta in La bohème and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and sang Madama Cortese in Il viaggio a Reims. She also created the role of Wendy Whiteley in the World Premiere of Elena Kats-Chernin’s Whiteley. She returns to Opera Australia in 2020... as Musetta and sings Despina in Cosi fan tutte for West Australian Opera. Other roles for the national company have included Girofle/Girofla in Two Weddings One Bride (which played at Riverside last year), Princess Ninetta in The Love for Three Oranges, The Woodbird in Der Ring des Nibelungen, Voce dal cielo in Don Carlo and the title role in The Merry Widow. Aged only 19, Julie Lea was invited to sing the leading role of Christine Daae in the national tour of The Phantom of the Opera starring Anthony Warlow. The series explores an extremely significant but largely overlooked dimension to Australian music history, the songs that were written and adapted by th...e Aboriginal folks and Torres Strait Islanders who lived in missions. Each episode revolves around a single mission song, featuring interviews with Jessie and breakdowns of the research and context behind the song, as well as a performance from Jessie and a host of other talented First Nations musicians. 12.01.2022 Artist Spotlight On Daniel Belle! Daniel’s passion for singing began at age 9, when he was a boy soprano who would sing with his Grandmother as his piano accompaniment. In the many years since, Daniel has gained a wealth of performance experience. In 2009, he performed in the Australian Premiere of Jerry Springer -The Opera at the Sydney Opera. In 2012, Daniel joined the internationally acclaimed vocal group The Ten Tenors and performed in theatres around Germany, America..., Australia, and Europe as part of The Ten Tenors’ Double Platinum tour. Daniel was also guest singer for the arrival of Pope Benedict at Barangaroo in 2008, has been a guest performer at the annual Merry Makers concert, and was a finalist for both The Rob Guest Endowment and The Joan Sutherland Scholarship. He has taught at and is a graduate of, the Australian Institute of Music. His theatre roles include Terry in Side Show at the Hayes Theatre Co and from 2014 2016 he toured in the international production of Les Misérables covering the role of Jean Valjean and playing it over 100 times. Daniel returned to the role of Jean Valjean to rave reviews in Christchurch, New Zealand and more recently for Packemin Productions at Riverside Theatres. Last year, Daniel toured with the Ten Tenors in Australia and throughout the USA and was a guest artist on BRAVO Cruise of the Performing Arts, on the bill with Robert McDougall, Sir Bryn Terfel and Marina Prior. Guy Noble has conducted the Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Western Australian, Tasmanian, Queensland and Canberra symphony orchestras, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Symphony and Malaysian Philharmonic orchestras. He is the host and accompanist each year for Great Opera Hits (Opera Australia) at the Sydney Opera House. He conducted Opera Queensland’s 2014 production of La Boheme, is conductor and host for the Adelaide ...Symphony Orchestra’s Classics Unwrapped series at the Adelaide Town Hall, and for the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Music on Sundays series at QPAC. He is also the host of Concert Hall on Qantas Radio and has presented programs on BBC Radio 3 and ABC Classic. He has since worked with a wide variety of international performers appearing with orchestras across Australia, including Harry Connick Jr, Ben Folds, The Beach Boys, The Pointer Sisters, Dianne Reeves, Glenn Frey, Randy Newman, Clive James, Conchita, The Two Cellos, Alfie Boe and Olivia Newton John. He was the first conductor and host for the Symphony in the City for the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Some career highlights include doing a raffle with Princess Margaret in London, sharing a trip in a lift with John Gielgud at BBC Broadcasting House, cooking pasta live on stage with Maggie Beer and Simon Bryant and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and possibly being the only person to ever sing the Ghostbusters theme with The Whitlams and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
