24.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: Numbers 3 As Moses counted up the Lectures we get two, somewhat disturbing comments. We are reminded of Aaron's two sons who died because they didn't burn the fire to God properly and the reminder that if those who are meant approach the sanctuary do, they should be killed. We like the images if God as loving and father, but God is also pure and holy. Through Jesus we have access to God always, but we still need to be respectful in the way we live and approach God. He still us holy and pure

24.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Chronicles 4 It is hard to imagine exactly what the Temple looked like. We do have a description of the majesty and glory of a building that es meant to echo and reflect the majesty and glory of God. This clip is a good attempt at what the Temple probably looked like.

23.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 25 Why is there so much detail about all the different jobs in the Temple and who did them in Chronicles? O think part of the answer is that under the rule of David the kingdom of Israel was going as it should. They were settled in the land God had promised, and inline any other time in their history, they had actually got it together. But as we go through the rest of 1 & 2 chronicles, we'll see this us the exception not the rule.

23.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 5 This life we live right now here on earth isn't the Beall and end all. We know that Jesus' return means we will be given our perfect immortal bodies and will be living with God forever. Through Jesus, God has made this possible because Jesus has taken the punishment for sin for us. We should have this always as our mindset, living in light of the future we know is coming, but also joining in Jesus' work of reconciliation as ambassadors of him, pointing others to him.

21.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Chronicles 5 Twenty years ago we, as in Sydney, hosted the Olympic Games. Over the last few weeks a lot of people have been sharing their memories of what really seemed to be a great fortnight of sport and celebration as the world descended on Sydney for a great time. I remember the vibe around the city was great. Everyone was positive and happy. Well I reckon the vibe in Sydney was nothing compared to what Jerusalem would have been like when the Ark of... the Covenant was brought into the newly built Temple. This wasn't just se global sporting event, this was the biggest possible thing ever, God coming to live in the heart of his people. The Ark was the symbol of God's presence with his people. God was coming to live on his Temple. We don't have a temple made of glorious wood, stone and gold for God to live in, but in the New Testament we are told that as the church we are God's temple, and through his spirit, God lives in us. See more

18.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Chronicles 7 These events, the consecrating if the Temple, and God accepting the temple are probably the highest point in Israel's history. God dwelling with his people. But I'm amongst the high point is God's call for obedience. God calls us too to be obedient to him. If we are you live with God, we are to live his way.

14.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 1 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4... Do you stop and think about how God comforts you in all your troubles? I know I often forget to look to God for my comfort, but I know when I do there is comfort which is better than I can get anywhere else. And knowing the comfort of God means we are also able to co fort those around us being sign posts to God for them.

12.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 26 David was keen to see that God's plan for the Levites to be those who were set aside for his service was carried out. While we read these lists of names and appointments and may find it tedious, thousands of years ago this was David's way of ensuring that God was properly being obeyed, not by himself, but by the whole nation. God is a God of ordee.

12.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 27 The last few chapters of 1 Chronicles has given us a picture of the stability of David's reign. It was a time when the social and religious structures were put in place to set up the nation. David was able to provide such stability because he was someone who was putting God first in what he did.

11.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: Numbers 6 The rules surrounding Nazirites reminds me of probably the most famous Nazirite- Sampson. Though as I read this chapter I realise Samson failed on so many fronts at being a good Nazirite. But unlike Sampson, there was one, Jesus, who fulfilled every law, and that is what makes him able to represent us and take the punishment of din for us.

11.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 8 Our live for God should be seen in our love for others. Knowing God has been generous to us in Jesus we should be wanting to be generous to others as an act of worship.

11.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 2 Forgiveness is something we all like to receive, but often find it terribly had to give. There had been a few issues between Paul and the Corinthian church, and people had done the wrong thing, but Paul is urging the church to be a forgiving place. As followers if Jesus we are called to be forgives, just as he forgave.

11.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: Numbers 4 There is a lot of detail about who was to do what and how it was to be done. There are two things we can learn about God from this: 1. God is an orderly God. He doesn't just make things up on the run or have no idea and is reactionary. God loves order because he is in control over all things. He is planned, which we see here but also in the story of the world. God has a plan and he works it out, which we see ultimately in Jesus. 2. God is holy. We see that it was only certain family groups if the Levites that could Cary certain elements if the Tabernacle in certain ways. Thus is because God is holy and the things if him are holy. But unlike the Israelites of the Old Testament, we have all been made holy if we trust in Jesus, so we can freely approach God ourselves.

11.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: Song of Songs 7 Like a lot of this book, this chapter is full of sexual innuendo. It is a reminder that sex is a good gift from God, but has parameters around it. Humanity is called to enjoy sexual relationships, but only within the confines of a husband and wife relationship. When following this design, sex is something to be enjoyed and celebrated.

10.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: Song of Songs 8 Verse 5-7 is a reminder of how strong love is. It is worth more than any amount of money. And we know that true love, which is priceless is best seen in Jesus, who did not hold back, but sacrificed himself so that we can become part of God's forever family.

10.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Chronicles 6 ‘As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm when they come and pray towards this temple, then hear from heaven, your dwelling-place. Do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house that I have bu...ilt bears your Name. 2 Chronicles 6:32-33 God's desire has always been for people from everywhere to come and join his family. Yes he did choose Abraham and his family to be his special family, but that was do they could be a light to the rest of the world. God wants all his people to be propelled outward with the good news of Jesus so all people will come and worship God.

10.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 6 We see pays absolute conviction in the truth and importance of what Jesus has done on the cross. It is because of this conviction that Paul is able to undergo so many different hardships to ensure that he can share the good news with others so they too many have life and relationship with God. Do we possess the same fundamental conviction as Paul does? Is our faith in Jesus so strong that we are able to endure anything for the sake of sharing the good news with others through our words and the way we live?

10.01.2022 DailyBible reading: 2 Chronicles 1 If you could have anything in the world, what would it be? Solomon had the chance to have anything he wanted, and what did he ask for? Wisdom. What a great choice if things to ask for. And James Remi ds us in the New Testament that if we ask God for wisdom, he will answer us and give us wisdom too.

09.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 7 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 7:10 ... When we sin how do we feel about it afterwards? If we have godly sorrow about what we have done we will repent, and want to go back living God's way. But if our feelings are just about "poor me" or about how that sin has made life worse off for us, we won't be lead to repentance or turning back to God. Such feelings don't bring restoration with God.

08.01.2022 Bernie and Ben will be live today, here at 3:30

08.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 9 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 2 Corinthians 9:12 ... Paul was keen to encourage the church in Corinth to be generous because true generosity is a form of thanks to God for all he has provided for us. Helping out others, in particular other Christians, is a form of gratitude to God and a way of living out our faith in a practical manner.

08.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: Song of Songs 7 We see the husband absolutely loves his bride. Out of all other women he is concerned only with her. As we thought about yesterday, in the New Testament we are given the image of husband and wife as a description of the relationship between Jesus and his people, the church. Jesus is the husband who cares and loves his church so deeply

07.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 29 ‘But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. 1 Chronicles 29:14 ... David was a great king. He was a mighty warrior and set up the nation of Israel really well, yet he knew he was only able to do that because God allowed him to. There are many traits of David that we should try and copy, but at the moment I am struck by his humility. He knew that compared to God all of us are nothing, but God still cares for us. Let us remember that all we have comes from God's good hand as well.

07.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: Numbers 5 God is pure and only purity can be near him. We see this means that anyone who is unclean has to leave the camp of the Israelites, because God was with them in the camp. This should make us sad, because all of us, because of sin, are impure, which means none of us can be near God. But that is where the good news of Jesus comes in. Jesus makes us pure. When we believe in him, our impurity has been taken away at the cross, and he has given us his purity.

07.01.2022 "Team work makes the dream work." A church is a body- a community of people who live under the headship of Christ. In order for it to fulfill its mission in the world, we need every hand on deck, every heart engaged and every person on mission. This coming Sunday is our last Vision Sunday for 2020. Come along and lets learn how to be a team who works together for the glory of Christ in Riverstone and beyond.

07.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 28 David gave Solomon, his son, the plans for the temple of God for him to bring the building into being. But he also gave him a warning that he needed to make sure he was following God's way. That warning needs to be heard bus us now as well. We too need to make sure we are listening too and obeying God in all we do as well

06.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 24 Again we hit another chapter of lists of names and roles of people, who if I am honest, I find hard to fully understand. But what we do see is that under David at least, the importance of living God's way. What is recorded is the names of the priests and temple workers, because worshipping God us what is central to David's kingship. It is important to get the central things sorted in order that everything else falls into place around it.

05.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Chronicles 3 The description of the Temple Solomon made is mind blowing. It is almost 30m by 10m made from the finest wood and overlaid with intricate golden designs. Only the best for God.

05.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Chronicles 2 We see Solomon knew that God is bigger and greater than all other pretend gods, and his dwelling place is never in a building made of human hands. Yet he still wanted to build a Temple for God that reflected God's grandeur. Solomon is an example to us for always wanting to give God our best.

05.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 3 What a great reminder that our confidence is in Jesus. He is the one that brings freedom and glory. And because our hope is based on Him and not in ourselves or anything we do, we can be bold in sharing the good news and living his way.

05.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Corinthians 4 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18... It isn't always easy being a Jesus follower. There will be times when those around us will want to make our lives hard just because the font see the light Jesus brings. But Paul reminds us to look at the bigger picture. Focus on what we might not physically see, our identity in Jesus which means we will have eternity with Jesus to look forward to.

02.01.2022 Daily Bible reading: 2 Chronicles 8 Under Solomon, the land if Israel was a great place for God's people to live. Solomon was a great king who ruled well and was successful in what he did. But there are a couple of hints that not everything was quite how God wanted it to be. We see that there were still people in the land that God had told the Israelites to get rid of. God had said to do this do they wouldn't start following fake gods, but the people didn't full obey.
