25.01.2022 Wisdom is most crucial when we are not obligated to use it. Aash reminds of the story of Doeg the Edomite and David found in 1 Samuel as well as Davids song of injustice in Psalm 52. When life puts us in situations when lashing out or acting unfairly is permissible, these are the moments when wisdom is crucial. As followers of Jesus, we are called to emulate Jesus, who, when He had the right to respond violently to injustice, instead chose to give His life up for us. The wisest, and also the most loving act in history.

23.01.2022 "I currently volunteer at kids worship and the adult music team. Having grown up in church, volunteering was something that I felt came naturally to me. I saw it being modelled in my parent's life and the lives of church people I looked up to. For me, it made sense to sow back into the community which had invested so much into my faith journey. Being involved in the worship ministry at Riverview has been such an enriching experience. Apart from the opportunity to learn, grow ...and serve others with the musical gift God's given, it has also provided me many opportunities to connect with people of different ages and backgrounds which I otherwise would not have had if I didn't put my hand up. The rewards far outweigh the sacrifices. 1 Pet 4:10 says that we should use whatever gift we have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of Gods grace in its various forms. When we volunteer, we are faithfully stewarding God's grace." Adrian L.

22.01.2022 "These opportunities have given me confidence, purpose and joy. I found what I love doing and it doesnt feel like work. One of my favourite quotes is by Frances Chan 'But God doesnt call us to be comfortable. He calls us to trust him so completely that we are unafraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if he doesnt come through.' It was only when I stepped out of my comfort zone that God paved the way for me. In taking that first step He has blessed... my life with new opportunities, new people and new experiences." 21.01.2022 If you want to get warm you must stand near the fire: if you want to be wet you must get into the water. If you want joy, power, peace, eternal life, you must get close to, or even into, the thing that has them. They are not a sort of prize which God could, if He chose, hand out to anyone. They are a great fountain of energy and beauty spurting up at the very centre of reality. If you are close to it, the spray will wet you: if you are not, you will remain dry. - CS Lewis (Mere Christianity)

21.01.2022 In the midst of hardship and suffering, Jesus is with us, and He extends to us an invitation to trust. To trust and revere him in the good times and the bad times. To trust and revere him, in sickness and in health. To trust and revere him, whether in blessing or in affliction - Ryan Gageler. There really is no place better to be on a Sunday than in church Wherever you are today we hope that you've discovered the joy of being surrounded by the community of Gods people!

16.01.2022 "Life can be a crazy ride but in the midst of it all, our God is still faithful, He is still loving and He still has a plan for us. Knowing this grounds me and reminds me to stop and simply be thankful for all He has already blessed us with, including our gifts. Being part of such a wonderful worship team at Riverview has taught me that even when I dont understand it, God can use us and our gifts for His will and purpose. When we use our God-given gifts to glorify Him and to serve others, it brings such a sense of joy to our lives and positions our hearts to be humbled before Him. Worship for me is my way of thanking my Heavenly Father for all He is, all He has done and all He will continue to do in my life." Kara P.

15.01.2022 Wednesday morning prayer with the men is a weekly highlight for me. Anyone who consistently arrives at 6am to pray is serious about their walk with God and these are the kind of people I like to be around! Not only is the encounter with God powerful and profound so is the coffee afterwards at a nearby café with the guys. I’d recommend and encourage any man in the church to come and check it out! Why not join James and the blokes, 6am, Wednesdays at our Burswood campus?

09.01.2022 Our Pastoral Care team needs LARGE PRINT books, preferably Biographies! We have a few people from Riverview who would love these books. Especially a beautiful lady in a Transitional Care Nursing Home who just had a hip replacement op and cannot move out of bed for 6 weeks! She'd love a few books to help pass the time. If you have any and are happy to lend, please drop them at the Info Hub in the foyer (Burswood and Joondalup) on Sunday. Thanks so much!

06.01.2022 "Its such a privilege to lead our people in worship; to see the way in which they connect with our great God and draw close to Him. Worship opens us all up to hear God whisper to us and on occasions when we need it, to raise His voice in our direction. There have been numerous times when He has caused me to kneel in awe before Him. These have been the times when He has reminded me of His commitment to me and His promises to me and to my family. Often in worship, God has sp...oken clearly into my mind and these words have prepared me for what lay ahead. Im humbled by the servant hearts of those I stand alongside on a celebration day; they are not there to draw attention to themselves but to point the ones we lead, to Jesus. The technical detail will always be important but above this aspect is the recognition that we are there to worship first and foremost and to hear Him speak. For this reason above all, I love to serve on the worship team." Steve K

06.01.2022 This week's CONVERSATIONS podcast is up! Join Dr Tania Watson as she dives into a conversation about 'Pilgrimage.' _________ Were all heading somewhere. A pilgrimage is a journey to an uncertain or foreign place; where we seek meaning and transformation through the experience. To go on a journey without being changed is to simply be a tourist, however, to journey and to be transformed by the journey is to be a pilgrim. In this episode, were joined by Dr Tania Watson, as we explore the ageless pilgrim practice, and how life and faith might better best understood as a pilgrimage.
