25.01.2022 It's amazing hearing these kinds of stories from our project partners. These are the kids of the future.
24.01.2022 We are all MORE than what we look like. Our true beauty lies within our souls and our hearts.
24.01.2022 Strength is found in moments of giving, believing, loving, laughing and crying. If you've done any of the above this week, you've found strength.
23.01.2022 Plenty of unkind acts occur in our world, but World Kindness Day is meant to shine the spotlight on the truly kind acts that people do. It is meant to encourage 'random acts of kindness', as well as the more purposeful and commitment-filled ones. Many observe the day by giving food, clothes, money, books or other essential items to those who need them most while others hold the door for strangers, say Thank You, pay for someone’s lunch or a multitude of other small kind acts. #WorldKindnessDay What act of kindness can you do for someone today?
23.01.2022 Soursdey Chhnam Thmei ~ Happy New Year from our friends at Empowering Cambodia For the last few years, an impact trip team from RCF would have celebrated the bringing in of the new year right in the heart of Cambodia. Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions do not allow us to visit yet! We miss being with our friends at Flame, Empowering Cambodia, Transform Cambodia, @StichesofHope and @cambodiancareNGO... Thanks to generous donations to the Riverview Trust, we have been able to financially partner with each of these projects throughout 2020 and with your help we’re hoping to continue this partnership through 2021. Our friends need our help if you want to be part of a bigger story, make a donation today via the link below: https://bit.ly/35g55g1
23.01.2022 Shoutout to Rpahaus who’s donated a portion of 30% from all sales made in December to contribute in giving a gift to a child and nominated us to distribute it through our multiple community agencies, women’s refuges school across Australia and also overseas partner projects.
22.01.2022 The centres are open! Students from EMPOWERING CAMBODIA returned to Preparatory and English Centre I last week in accordance with government regulations. All students must have their temperature taken and be issued with a mask upon entry. Last week was the first time teachers and students have gathered together since they were ordered to close as a result of the implementation of COVID-19 restrictions in March. https://www.facebook.com/EmpoweringCambodia/videos/3560260080675230
22.01.2022 UNESCO established World Philosophy Day for several reasons. First, to simply underscore the importance of philosophy and philosophies historically and in today’s ever-changing world. Second, to give occasion to awareness campaigns that promote philosophy as a form of critical thought and problem-solving that can help answer some of life’s toughest questions. Third, World Philosophy Day is meant to especially encourage the teaching of philosophy as a discipline academically... as well as in more informal settings. It is meant to promote philosophical debates, diversity, tolerance of differing opinions, and respect for human rights and dignity. Philosophy can contribute to practical problems like world peace, world hunger, and environmental protection.
21.01.2022 To find a need, we often don't have to look very hard or far. Sometimes, it's just right next to us. The question is, will we do something about it?
20.01.2022 What is a Donation Dollar? Australians are known as a charitable bunch, lending a hand when a hand needs to be lent. And right now, even a small act of generosity can make a big difference. Donation Dollar is designed to remind us to give, not only in times of crisis, but all year round. It’s an official circulating coin, which can be spent like any other $1 coin, but when donated, helps make an on-going impact on the lives of Australians in need. ... Over the coming years, The Royal Australian Mint, plans to mint one for every single Australian, creating millions of reminders to give. If we all donated on Donation Dollar a month, we’d raise an additional 300 million dollars annually. We think this is pretty incredible! https://donationdollar.com.au/index.html
19.01.2022 If you missed out on the screening of ‘The Songkeepers’ last Sunday or if you want to learn more about the creativity embedded in our Australian Indigenous communities, join us at this free event next Sunday night! This will be such a great way for us to learn about and celebrate our First Nations People. #Naidoc2020 #TheSongKeepers
19.01.2022 My name is Sangita. I came to live at Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission after my parents died when I was very young. Mukti gave me a loving home, an education, and hope for a brighter future. I also learned cooking and the art of hospitality. I even went on to achieve my Masters in Social Work, after which the Management Team at Mukti invited me to be employed as a social worker, and also to supervise the children in the Rose family. I love my work and am grateful to God for transforming my life and giving me meaning and purpose as I gladly serve others. source : Mukti Australia
17.01.2022 Today is International Grandparents Day for our USA friends - Share the love -- "I had spent an hour in the bank with my dad, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn't resist myself & asked... ... ''Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?'' ''Why would I do that?'' He asked... ''Well, then you won’t have to spend an hour here for things like transfer. You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!'' I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking. He asked ''If I do that, I won’t have to step out of the house? ''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered at door now and how amazon delivers everything! His answer left me tongue-tied. He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now. You know I am alone...this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave. Two years back I got sick. The store owner from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried. When your Mom fell down few days back while on her morning walk. Our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live. Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online? Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer? I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds of Relationships. Does Amazon deliver all this as well?''' Technology isn't life.. Spend time with people .. Not with devices." Writer: Unknown
17.01.2022 Matthew Paul Miller, known by his Hebrew and stage name Matisyahu, is an American Jewish reggae singer. The orchestration in Haifa asked 3,000 Muslims and Jews (none of who had met before) to come together and learn the song One Day by Matisyahu in under an hour. Not only that, but they learned how to sing and harmonize the lyrics in three different languages. The resulting concert, which was made in collaboration with Beit HaGefen, the Haifa Municipality, and the Port of Haifa, is a breathtaking display of unity and beauty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqvKDCP5-xE
17.01.2022 Currently, it is estimated that developing nations will face a $2 trillion shortfall in funding to effectively respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. It's not over until it's over for everyone. 16.01.2022 We know just how much of a difference aid can make in the lives of the world's most vulnerable, but did you know it also benefits Australia? When we invest in the health, stability and prosperity of our neighbours, it strengthens our strategic relationships and helps to create a shield against further global health crises in the future. So investing in aid is more than just a 'nice thing to do'. It's actually really smart too!... To show your support for the Australian Government sending vital aid to our global neighbours, sign the pledge today. It's not over until it's over for everyone. #EndCOVIDForAll www.endcovidforall.com
15.01.2022 Here at RCS we believe advocacy and activism in the refugee space is most effective when it is collaborative and led by the voices of people with lived experiences. Refugee Voices is an example of a great refugee led community organisation committed to mobilisation and campaigning for change in this domain.
15.01.2022 Over the last few months, RCS has begun a partnership with our friends at Mission Australia Youth and Support Services. Just last week, we were able to deliver ‘welcome care packs’ for young people arriving at the crisis accommodation and transition home right in our own neighborhood. We’re grateful for our @lotterywest grant and the generosity of our donors who make it possible for us to begin these partnerships!
14.01.2022 Share your smile with the world. It’s a symbol of friendship and peace. Christie Brinkley #quotestoliveby
12.01.2022 "There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up. - John Holmes What a way to end the year! Thank you to all our friends who supported us throughout 2020. It's through your kindness and generosity that enables and empowers us to do what we do. Heaps of kids had a better Christmas this year because of you.
11.01.2022 This little boys dad went to the animal shelter to get chickens, but what he found instead was a little puppy with the same cleft lip as his son. His dad adopted the puppy in hope that it will help his son understand that being different doesn’t mean you are not loved. For this puppy it meant a life long friend, with so many doggies still waiting for their forever home and someone to love them, would you be able to adopt your new best friend from one of our local Perth shelters?
09.01.2022 In the lead up to the US elections, these words from the late RGB are a timely reminder for us all. "Fight for the things you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you"
08.01.2022 Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. This year, it has been clearer than ever that we are not each other’s enemies. Rather, our common enemy is a tireless virus that threatens our health, security and very way of life. COVID-19 has thrown our world into turmoil and forcibl...y reminded us that what happens in one part of the planet can impact people everywhere. In March, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on all warring parties to lay down their weapons and focus on the battle against this unprecedented global pandemic. While the message is intended for armed parties, solidarity and cooperation across borders, sectors and generations are also needed to win this new fight against the worst public health crisis of our time. For the United Nations, 2020 was already meant to be a year of listening and learning. To mark its 75th anniversary, the UN has invited millions of people worldwide to join UN75, the largest and furthest-reaching global conversation on building the peaceful and prosperous future that we want. As we struggle to defeat COVID-19, your voice is more important than ever. In these difficult times of physical distancing, this International Day of Peace will be dedicated to fostering dialogue and collecting ideas. The world will be invited to unite and share thoughts on how to weather this storm, heal our planet and change it for the better. Even though we may not be able to stand next to each other, we can still dream together. The 2020 theme for the International Day of Peace is Shaping Peace Together. Celebrate the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic. Stand together with the UN against attempts to use the virus to promote discrimination or hatred. Join us so that we can shape peace together. See more
06.01.2022 Following #NAIDOC week last week, it is important that we continue to learn from, respect and encourage our First Nations People. One way to do that is through supporting verified Indigenous businesses. Supply Nation has made this super easy by collating a directory which includes all different kinds of businesses from gifts and clothing to services such as graphic design and construction
04.01.2022 We loved seeing this little note on the table during lunch at @ourrubygirl in Salter Point. They also have some amazing recycling initiatives and support local business. It’s good to see small coffee shops like these show a real heart for the community and our environment.

01.01.2022 What a journey it has been. May all that is beautiful, meaningful, and that brings you joy be yours this Christmas season and throughout the coming year.
