25.01.2022 Product of the week Brand new to the nursery is this new Osmocote Pour+Feed for Indoor Plants. You won't be needing a watering can or water for this feed as there is no mixing required. Simply fill the cap to the recommended dosage and pour the liquid fertiliser directly around the base of the plant onto the soil.... What does it contain? Micro-nutrients, trace elements and growth stimulants for healthy root development. The NPK is balanced to best suit a broad range of indoor plants.

24.01.2022 During our coronavirus pandemic I regularly highlight the importance of learning from mistakes and in being selfless rather than selfish. Today we have another ...lesson. It is being widely reported on all reliable news services this afternoon that two 19-year-old Queensland women returned to Brisbane on July 21 from Melbourne via Sydney on Virgin flights VA863 and VA977. They allegedly gave false information about their travel when entering the state , did not undertake quarantine as they were legally required to do and just continued to go about their business visiting shopping malls, restaurants, a church and a school, Parklands Christian College, where one of the women works over numerous days when they were supposed to be in quarantine. Both have tested positive to covid 19 and a close contact of theirs has just also tested positive this afternoon to covid 19 as well. She is an employee at YMCA Chatswood Hills Outside School Hours Care - a service that cares for children. The actions of these two people are despicable in my view. Their selfishness has brought them, through their actions, into contact with potentially hundreds of other innocent people in shopping malls, restaurants and schools. The rules and regulations are there to protect not only the two people themselves but also the wider community. Their selfishness has already led to further infection as outlined above of a worker, their friend, from a child care centre. This in turn puts children, child care workers and parents at risk. We need to learn from this. If everyone as an individual does the right thing, then situations like this cannot occur. Kindness and care are the way forward but individual responsibility is key too. Follow the rules. Please

15.01.2022 While the garden centre has continued to operate over the last few weeks, we havent had our doors open to customers. Tomorrow we will have our doors open but with many of the same measures in place. So stay safe, stay home except for essential shopping. We have been really busy with Facebook and phone orders and delivery over the last few weeks and this is still our preferred way of serving our loyal customers at this difficult time. Thankyou everyone for the overwhelming support of our locally owned business. Take away coffee and cakes will be available from the window and gift shop, following social distancing guidelines.

08.01.2022 Maintaining your home orchard is not as tricky as you may think. Following some simple rules your home orchard will not only survive but will provide you with ...fruit year in, year out. , in Winter while your trees are dormant is the perfect time to prune. We recommend a simple V (or vase) shape prune which will allow the sun and airflow into your tree. To establish a V shape remove most of the limbs that are growing towards the centre of the tree - this will leave a little hollowed out area. Prune these limbs right back to the main branch, removing any old or dead wood. Trim the top of the tree between 50cm - 1m depending on the height & age of your tree. we recommend pruning prior to planting your bare root tree. Bare root trees are paddock grown and removed every winter with equipment called Diggers This process of digging the trees leaves around half of the root system behind. To ensure your bare root trees gets the best chance and is able to sustain the top (remember its lost half of its life line - root system in the digging process) its imperative to prune by around 50% (yes shock horror) Take a look at the diagrams below, which will give you a basic idea as to how much you should be pruning
