24.01.2022 Now that's a guitar....

22.01.2022 One way to get a well spec’d axe is to build one up from parts although at the same time it can end up costing too much and the results can be... not great, can be a risk. Though if over the years you’ve accumulated a few bits and pieces, can find a good neck and a decent finished body for the right price, why not give it a shot. It’s a chance to built to your exact specs and do something a bit different. Plus, having a good guitar that’s not worth too much, for those certain gigs or leaving around children and pets etc, can be handy. But be prepared, it’s usually not that simple.

22.01.2022 Nice Mexican Fender Midi Strat. The owner was having trouble with the action and string height, and we can see straight away why - the neck pitch was on the wrong angle to the body making it impossible to set the saddle height correctly. Time for a shim.

17.01.2022 Here's a quick idea for a mod or resto - pickup covers. Here's a set of Gibson 496R / 500T's that had seen better days (from a '92 LP Classic apparently)... but with a bit of a clean up, new set of pole screws and some nickel covers, they look a million bucks and pack a punch belying their classy looks. These were installed in the Yamaha Studio Lord below. And they sound great.

17.01.2022 Axe feeling tired..? Not givin' you what you need...? Maybe a small (or major) mod or upgrade might help your inspiration... like something from the impressive selection at Pro Guitar Shop perhaps? https://www.facebook.com/proguitarshop?fref=ts

14.01.2022 Here's just a quick look at some of the jobs we've had through the last couple of weeks..... don't see these everyday.

12.01.2022 Installed a "drop in" harness in this awesome old original Rickenbacker 481 (I think) 6 string other day. Word of warning, nothing ever drops straight in (or rarely...). But with a few modifications we got it in there no probs. This photo was taken just after wiring it up, and just before realising the cavity was too shallow for the pre-installed straight toggle switch...and swapping it out for a right angle model. Stock bridge was also swapped out for a heavy duty aftermarket unit. Sounds great though, well worth the effort. Don't see many of these around.

07.01.2022 Beautiful old LP Standard, 1992 to be precise. Best Cherry Sunburst I've ever seen.... though needed some attention with her worn nut, collapsed bridge, blown volume pot.... no big deal, and came up well.

04.01.2022 Old P bass of unknown origin.... sounds great, but the neck had some issues. So let's just put a new one on.....

02.01.2022 There's been a surge in lessons lately, great to know so many people of all ages are still keen on playing an instrument. So if you've been thinking about it, why not just come have a bash or strum, completely obligation free and see what you think. Monday and Wednesday afternoons are popular, but we're quite flexible. Inquire this week for a discounted first lesson....

02.01.2022 Old Japanese Matsumoku Flying V copy. Believe it’s an Arbiter going by the 3 screw pickup mount holes (someone’s added centre holes), can be hard to tell as the Matsumoku factory produced high quality instruments for most of the Japanese companies of the time, like Ibanez, Greco, Aria etc.. and they could be pretty similar, sometimes exactly the same bar the brand name. She’s in pretty good nick bar a few battle scars, and even has the original case, but could use a little TLC.

01.01.2022 This is cool. '76 Yamaha Studio Lord.... Fantastic condition, but time for a loving restoration.
