23.01.2022 Today's oddity. Knowledge quiz..... Why on earth would I destroy a valuable relic like this? Give me your comments........to be fair, it dint sit well with me whilst chopping away...quite upsetting. Apparently back in the day they swapped outer cylinders for the racers, due to the angle of exhaust port outlets....from pointing outwards...To cross eyed, all to make exhaust clearance better for road racing........or something like that.....interesting though.

18.01.2022 I only do maybe 10-15 sleeves a yr and it's hard to compare how different jobs go, cause I forget ....this week if had 2 very comparable resleeves to do,Interesting how 2 different resleeves went. Rm250 97.cutting the Plating off this caused havoc with the boring process,New sleeve needed lots of trimming around the ports.came out v.well all the same. 04ish yz250 was much easier to cut the plating off,no chattering or grabing ( although this cylinder had huge wear on it and p...laying was thin)the porting on the new sleeve matched almost perfectly...minimal trimming. Weirdly the yz barrel discoulered during the heating process....but still more than accurate.I The yz has a larger expansion than the rm at the same temp. Sleeve slipped in easier than the rm. 16.01.2022 No aftermarket sleeve available for your cylinder? Here's an alternative. Yz490 cylinder way past its maximum O/S bore.After market sleeve for this particular cylinder is v. expensive. Generic 4t sleeve fitting.

10.01.2022 Same old......reasonably straight forward. Early 90's cr250,rod damage,selector rail boss Busted out (not quite so easy)

10.01.2022 Finally had a chance to test a new 2018 KTM85SX on the dyno... and the results were... um... interesting. The new engine has great midrange due to the new powe...rvalve but significantly less top end than the previous model. We used to see around 25rwhp out of a stock 13-17 engine, now it’s 23.4 and down to 23 when very hot. PINK line = stock 2018 engine BLUE line = stock 2018 engine, HGS pipe, stock silencer GREEN line = our modified (and reliable) 13-17 engine. With the new powervalve design I’m sure we’ll see killer midrange AND killer top end once this 2018 engine is modified. Then it’ll be shipped back to its owner in the UK for some hard racing.

08.01.2022 Honda cr500 84 engine rebuild. A good very low hr motor but it's had a catastrophic top end melt down.just mechanical repairs on this,no cosmetics.

07.01.2022 These work well. Especially on this yz490,startings a breeze. Makes life easy for you,your Kickstarter,and cases. ( no more nasty case wrecking kick backs) Auto decompression knob.

06.01.2022 Just a nice motor refurbish to include all bearings,seals,rod and piston. That vapour blasting or whatever it's called does a great job......realy impressed! Oops!......somebody forgot to send the p/v and w/p covers to the blasters.
