25.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we announce that Doug Raffan, co-founder of Raffan & Kelaher (now Raffan, Kelaher & Thomas) sadly passed away on Friday, 23rd October 2020, after a long illness. Doug was 74 years of age. Doug spent his entire working life in the auctioneering industry, initially working for F R Strange, followed by Hamilton and Miller and Australasian Auctions. Together with Jim Kelaher, Doug established Raffan & Kelaher in a small building in Camperdown in 19...76, before moving to two other buildings in Camperdown, which was then followed by a brief stay in Dulwich Hill. Raffan & Kelaher moved to John Street, Leichhardt in 1990. Doug loved auctioneering and had a vast knowledge of antique furniture and objets d'art. He adapted to computers quickly and assisted in writing the computer programmes initially used by Raffan & Kelaher. Doug retired from Raffan & Kelaher in 1991, having built it into Sydney's largest antique, fine art and general auction house. VALE DOUG.
