15.01.2022 After a recent IGTV chat with @toddliubinskas for @gymlab.au (head over to their page to check it out) I was asked about the importance of having the right mindset for a healthy lifestyle. The right mindset isn’t about flicking a switch and saying ok ‘it’s time for change’ lets go (that will only work for a few select group of people) For the majority of people it’s the small things you can be doing each and everyday that can help to get you into a positive state of mind t...hat will make a monumental difference long term. Simple things like consistency, healthy habits, going for a walk, calling a mate and checking in, a 10 minute stretch in your bedroom before bed, a home cooked nutritious meal when a take away was the easy option, I could go on and on. The point is to find the things that put YOU in a good clear head space that will ultimately help you to make better choices and remember it’s not all about fitness. You’ll know what these things are, so go and do more of them! Remember you have control over a lot of these situations, it’s about shaping them in the right way to tip the needle to work in your favour - Didn’t get up for that run, Your choice - Got up and walked anyway even though it was cold out this morning, Your choice - Said yes to that 4th takeaway in the week, Your choice - Took 10 minutes out of your busy day to grab a coffee and get some fresh air, again your choice See what I’m getting at? 07.01.2022 HEALING TURMERIC & GINGER BROTH || perfect for the cooler months ahead You will need: 2 zucchini, finely diced 1 red onion, finely diced... 2 garlic cloves, crushed 2 thumb-sized pieces ginger, grated 800g tinned chickpeas 800g tinned lentils 1 small bag spinach 1 litre vegetable stock 1 bunch coriander 3 tsp turmeric powder 2 tsp cumin powder Olive oil Chilli flakes Salt and pepper Simple steps: (serves 4-6) Add a little olive oil to a deep pan. Fry the onion, garlic, ginger and zucchini over a medium heat until soft and slightly coloured. Season well with salt and pepper. Stir in the turmeric, cumin powder and chilli flakes. Boil the vegetable stock then add to the pan. Bring back to the boil and reduce to a simmer. Drain and rinse the chickpeas and lentils. Add to the broth and simmer for a final 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in a bunch of roughly chopped coriander and a bag of spinach.
