23.01.2022 Today restrictions have eased once again for the fully vaccinated, meaning we can finally say goodbye to density caps in retail, hospitality, events and home visits! Masks will still be required in retail settings, on public transport, taxis and rideshare services, planes, hospitals and medical facilities and primary schools for visitors and staff, as well as students from grades 3-6. 22.01.2022 Will Melbourne bounce back once it has conquered the coronavirus pandemic, or will COVID-19 leave lasting scars on the city, just as the virus appears to do on many of the people who survive it? The pressure is now on for economic recovery, with businesses and the city hoping that people will now be confident to head back into the CBD. Whereas the future of major sporting and cultural events still up in the air, and city offices still closed, businesses are struggling. But no...w there's planning behind the scenes to allow major sporting events, including the Boxing Day Test cricket match, Australian Open tennis tournament, and Grand Prix formula 1 car race, to take place over summer and next year. Let's hope for the best and for people to come and enjoy what Melbourne has to offer Source: abc.net.au #melbourne #lockdown #pandemic

20.01.2022 Cr Lisa Cooper (Scott Ward) has been elected Mayor of Knox City Council, with Cr Susan Laukens (Friberg Ward) to serve as Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months. Cr Cooper said it was an honour to be chosen as Mayor among a newly-elected Council and she would embrace the opportunity to serve in this role in what continues to be a challenging time for the community. For many, COVID-19 has placed an entirely new expectation on what civic duty will look like moving forward. The co...mmunity wants a Council that respectfully listens, values the diversity of our community, and allows people to have their say. This is a dynamic new Council, and I feel blessed to be elected as Mayor, to lead and represent such diverse individuals, who in their own right bring so much skill, insight and wisdom. I will do this to the very best of my ability, with energy, pride, commitment and integrity, said Cr Cooper. Cr Cooper was first elected to Council in 2015 and is a long-standing resident of Knox. She has a background in financial services as well as holding a Bachelor of Psychological Science. Cr Cooper thanked the outgoing Mayor, Cr Nicole Seymour for her leadership throughout the significant challenges of the past 12 months, and for her authentic compassion and care for the Knox community. Newly-elected Councillor Susan Laukens was elected to serve as Deputy Mayor. Cr Laukens is a registered nurse of over 25 years with a history of volunteering in the local community. @Mayor Lisa Cooper - Knox City Council
20.01.2022 Put Your Rubbish To Work Tonnes of rubbish are collected from Knox homes every week. A lot of this can be reused and recycled. So choose the right bin and put your rubbish to work! Other than basic recycling there are other ways to utilise your rubbish like using your green waste that can be used to create organic material and compositing which can help produce material that can be used at fertilisers.... Green waste can be highly useful for disposal of your living Christmas Tree after Christmas too. Find out more details through our councils website https://www.knox.vic.gov.au/waste #recycle #reuse #local #news
20.01.2022 How is everyone tracking with the last-minute Christmas shopping! Whilst busily buying and unwrapping presents, lets keep in mind that the Cleanaway Lysterfield Resource Recovery Centre is open for free drop-offs for items including cardboards, batteries, metal and newspapers. Handy to know considering the amount of presents come with large boxes, or the number of used batteries that cannot be put into our normal bins.... Let's enjoy Christmas and keep our planet healthy at the same time :)

16.01.2022 Walking around the neighbourhood, you might see that there are a number of Halloween decorations on display. Many of us are keen to look forward to festivities that lay in front of us. And how's today for a perfect reason to embrace the festivities. 05.01.2022 Strong voter response to local council elections Electoral Commissioner, Warwick Gately, says that local council voters across the State have responded to the call to get their votes returned asap and it is expected that the turnout for these elections will exceed the 2016 response. The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has been running a multi-pronged communication campaign to encourage voters to return completed ballots as soon as possible.... I am impressed by the rate of ballot returns compared with the same time in 2016. We are tracking above where we expected to be and are appreciative of the public’s response, says Mr Gately. In 2016 an average of 72% of people participated in the elections; voting was not compulsory for some categories of voters. Mr Gately says that the ballot return rate was expected to exceed the 75% anticipated average return for this year’s elections. Our reminders have generated large call volumes and we’ve increased call centre staff in response. All local council elections are being held by post because of the COVID-19 pandemic and voters are reminded to have their ballot packs in the mail or returned to their local election office by 6 pm this Friday, 23 October. Further information can be found online at http://hvec.vic.gov.au #vec

Thank you all who put in the effort for a much needed positive boost to our livelihood and vibe!
