24.01.2022 Lucky Dinosaurs Miss Melisa writes Miss Marliana and I love to create outdoor activities for our children. This time we decided to combine two activities inspired by the current interest of our children. We created a messy play experience for the dinosaurs involving muddy puddles to be followed by a very bubbly dinosaur bath. Together with all the adventurers, we made the mud by mixing cornflour, water and cocoa powder. After playing in the mud and getting pampere...d in the bubble bath, the dinosaurs were treated to a beautiful selection of natural ingredients collected and prepared by the children. These experiences catered to many different interests and the children were happily engaged and playing with the different elements that inspired them. The children were able to move through the spaces, sometimes back and forth multiple times, according to what took their interest. They took their dinosaurs for a play in the mud; they made them jump, walk and got them all dirty. Once the dinosaurs were dirty enough, they took them for a bubble bath. And what happens after a good bath? Well, the dinosaurs were hungry and that gave us the opportunity to talk about fruits and veggies with the children. We moved into the kitchen and made the dinosaurs try some delicious lemons and greens. See more

23.01.2022 It was lovely to catch up with Simon Millman MLA to view our facilities Ruth Landau Harp Early Learning and Perth Hebrew Congregation We chatted about current and future plans and shared our vision to help the community.

23.01.2022 We are so fortunate to be on the grounds of Perth Hebrew Congregation, particularly when we are learning about the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashana. We have had many visits from Rabbi Lieberman, who came in to blow the shofar. The children loved listening to the sound of the shofar, they would get very excited to see the Rabbi coming in with the shofar. It’s a way of saying, wake up everyone, the new year is on its way! Shana Tova everyone! (Have a good new Year!)

23.01.2022 A weekly highlight for our Adventurer children is to watch the rubbish truck empty our bins! #simplepleasures #rubbishtruck #perthlife #eylf #community

23.01.2022 What a fun and busy time we have had at RLH getting ready for Rosh Hashanah! The children have learned all about the Simanim (symbols) of Rosh Hashanah, especially the shofar. They have learned all about why we blow the shofar and have experienced hearing the different sounds it makes! During our learning of this topic, the children were excited to be involved in creating the masterpieces currently on display in our Shule and to decorate our Rosh Hashanah cards! Each room ...created their own piece together as a group. Our Kindy Two's made the Busy Bees canvas. Our Kindy One's made the Pomegranate Canvas. Our Adventurer’s made the Apples Canvas Our Explorer’s made the Sounds of the Shofar Canvas. The children are excited to hear the Shofar on Rosh Hashanah and are so proud to see the canvases on display in the Shule. They can’t wait for everyone to see it on Rosh Hashanah. We would like to wish you all a Shana Tova U’metukah (a Good and Sweet New Year). May this year be filled with health, wealth, happiness and unlimited blessings for each of you, our community, and the world as a whole! Love from Everyone at Ruth Landau Harp!

18.01.2022 We Love to Be Outside! Did you know our gardens are so big that we have double the amount of outdoor play space compared to most Childcare Centres? Our Pre-Kindy and Kindy children love to explore and engage in their own play space, ensuring that our younger children have their own play space to explore in a safe and secure environment.

17.01.2022 Bringing nature indoors Recently, our children in Kindy One created beautiful posies for their homes. They have been exploring different aspects of the traditions of Shabbat and creating beautiful decorations for the Shabbat table. The children who participated in this activity were engaged in exploring the different blooms, their textures, smells, colours and how they worked together in a collection. This allows for increased tactile stimulation for the children and supports further development of hand and finger awareness and coordination. Through this experience, the children were also learning about how resourceful nature can be. They had such fun picking and choosing the blooms they would add to their posies. #naturalresources

17.01.2022 Sensory Play with a hint of Roses Messy play fosters a child’s imagination, curiosity, experimentation and encourages good concentration. It allows young children to make their own discoveries using all their senses and is an essential part of childhood. Kiddiepedia.com.au Miss Maria writes This afternoon we set up a lovely sensory experience for our babies. We filled a tuff tray with corn flour and water, and sprinkled sweet smelling rose petals on top to make it smell ...wonderfully! Our babies really enjoyed the texture and the smells, as we encouraged them all to give it a try and participate! We asked open ended questions such as What does it smell like? Or what does the goop feel like?, to allow our babies to think and develop their problem solving and creativity! The babies loved it, some more than others, and it really made our afternoon an exciting mix of messy and fun! 12.01.2022 Miss Marliana writes - "This morning Miss Ortal created a 'carrot in a mud' activity as an extension from her storytime. I then decided to make a batch of colourful mud paint for our children. I scooped up a small amount of the mud and mixed it up with some food colouring and a squirt of dishwashing liquid (this helped the mud paint to spread). We really loved this natural 'safe' paint and their beautiful earthy colours! The children were excited, eager to further explore the... colours and textures of the paint. We watched as the children went back and forth between the paints and their canvas, using their brushes and hands to scoop the mud paint onto the paper. Some of the children even had fun experimented putting the brush onto their hands to paint them too. It was wonderful to see the children relaxed in their own elements creating beautiful art!" 07.01.2022 Spreading the light Morah Hinda Writes "While exploring the topic of our culture, the children learned about the mitzvahs that Jewish boys and girls get to do after they turn three. For girls this mitzvah is lighting Shabbos candles. To celebrate this the children created their very own Shabbat candle holders to take home. We discussed that doing mitzvahs are so special but we can also help others do mitzvahs as well. The children then packed candles in special bags to giv...e out to people in our community to help them do the mitzvah of lighting Shabbos candles. Today the children walked down to the Kosher Providor and helped me hand out Shabbat candles to all the people coming in. They were so brave and proud to share this mitzvah with other people. They proudly said "Shabbat Shalom" and gave a big smile to everyone along with Shabbos candles for them to light!"

06.01.2022 With the sun shining and blue skies last Friday, the Kindy children had a splashing time playing in the puddles from the water pumped from the barrel!

06.01.2022 Yesterday, our children had an exciting opportunity to go in to the Shule to practice their dancing with the Torah. In the past weeks we have been learning about Simchat Torah and how special it is to read and finish the Torah, and importantly, to start all over again. Our Kindy children made mini flags and Torahs to take home for Simchat Torah and they had so much fun using them while they danced in the Shule, even more so when the Rabbi came to join in with the real Torah! All the Simchat Torah celebrations will be happening on Saturday night and Sunday at PHC and we would love to see lots of children their dancing too. Wishing you all a wonderful happy Yomtov

06.01.2022 Have you met our new friends? Over the past few weeks we have introduced Helpful Harry, Terrific Trevor, Super Sam, Gentle George and Kind and Caring Kelly to our Adventurers children. The puppets have assisted and helped the children to learn about keeping themselves and others safe, empathy towards others, emotional intelligence and it has increased the children’s understanding of more complex issues and their vocabulary. Our most recent teachable moment with the children ...was about the importance of wearing sunscreen and why we need to apply it before going outside. Further information about the benefits of puppet play can be found by clicking the link below. http://thespoke.earlychildhoodaustralia.org.au/give-hand-u/

04.01.2022 This week our Pre-Kindy children got to learn to make some dumplings with Miss Meisee! We used play dough wrap and colourful chickpeas as filling. We included some Chinese loose tea, which added a wonderful fragrance to the experience. Through a hands on demonstration, the children learnt the techniques used to create their very own dumplings, which enhanced our role play experience. We taught the children how to roll the dough, cut out the circles of dough, place the 'colourful chickpeas' in the middle of the circle and fold the circle in half and close with a fork. This was part of our Culture and community program. It was beautiful to see the children respect the fine resources and explore a new culture.
