22.01.2022 We have been struggling with what to say or communicate in recent days when we do not wish to speak for those who are the persecuted or speak of their lived experience that is racial discrimination. We have questioned if we have anything of substance to add at all...however, we cannot and will not do anything. We have asked ourselves, what can we do that is meaningful and goes beyond a social media post when racial discrimination directly impacts members of our team, members ...of our families, friends and colleagues in the places we have grown up, live and work both here in Australia and overseas. We can speak up. We can contribute. Therefore, our team will be making donations to A&TSI advancement causes, writing to our MP’s on behalf of the company and we are committing to understanding where we can improve as an organisation through tangible actions and individual accountability. Why are we sharing this? It is in the hope that we can encourage people or organisations we interact on our platforms to do the same and feel safe to speak up if they are impacted by racial discrimination or want to help to make change happen. Please share your stories. We will share some information in the comments of our posts about organisations or causes you may wish to learn more about for the advancement of A&TSI peoples. Maybe you are also having a moment of but what can I do? too and can pick something up that can help. Please feel welcome to share any causes or suggestions on what we can do as a community to help bring about real change. To our Indigenous friends we apologise if this is not a perfectly articulated post given the complexities...please know that it comes from a place of wishing not to stay silent and move our team's activism from social media into something real.
