15.01.2022 Great day out for us today off Port Stephens with some happy clients.Started north skip baiting with 2 bites by suspected mahi mahi but not joy in setting the hooks. Dropped some livies on nice bait and tagged 2 whaler sharks in quick succession. Moved a bit further east to avoid the sharks and dropped a marlin on a livie followed by tagging a stripe around 90kg then a blue around 100kg then a black around 50kg. Kept swimming baits and dropped another stripe at the boat. Anyway a great day out I hope you all had good luck today. If you fancy a charter give us a call. Cheers Damo

12.01.2022 Anyone interested in chartering Reef Magic off Sydney tomorrow. A few bigger boats have ventured out this morning and found the bluefin. If you are keen give me a call on 0407113349 Cheers Damo

08.01.2022 Great day out of Sydney today on Reef Magic chasing tuna. Got a smaller fish early and had other fish busting up around the boat but got no other takers. Headed to our planned mark and hooked a better fish. After 20 minutes we had a shark trying to eat him at the boat and the tuna peeled off 200m of line to get away. We threw some burley over to distract him and it worked and after another 30 minutes we boated a nice yellowfin around 60kg. Hopefully others caught a few. We tried to radio other boats but had some issues with our radio. I believe other people could here us but we had nothing at our end. If you want to do a charter give us a call on 0407113349 Cheers Damo

07.01.2022 Another great weekend fishing on Reef Magic. Again the Newcastle Cruising Yacht club were great hosts the the East Coast Classic game fishing tournament ran by the NCGFC. With 50k on offer for a blue marlin over 250kg & 5k for one over 150kg we made the decision to pull big lures for a big blue! The weather gods decided to throw a spanner in the works. Saturday morning was blowing a gentle 20+knots with a 3 meter southerly swell and a current running to the south creating nas...ty stand up waves. We got just over the shelf and put the lures in all on Shimano 37kg outfits. It didn’t take long for the long rigger to get smashed. Our junior angler Max saddled up in trying conditions especially in a moon boot as he has a broken leg. As usual he did a great job even taking a few broken waves over the side and had a blue marlin boat side & tagged & released around 100kg. An hour later we had a bite on the JB dingo on the shotgun and little black around 70kg jumped across the ocean. On 37kg Max soon got it to the boat and was tagged and released. Unfortunately we didn’t see any more fish in the afternoon. Sunday’s conditions were better but still average in the morning. Around lunch I spotted a blue lining up the shotgun at a rate of knots from the port side and he didn’t miss and slammed the JB dingo. Again Max got it to the boat in around 30 minutes and we released a nice blue around 130kg but still not the one we were looking for. With just over an hour left the Tantrum bullet on the long rigger again got smashed. This time we new it was a lot bigger fish. After over an hour we finally got a look and confirmed we had a blue marlin over 150kg. Unfortunately we will never know as we got it on the leader only to have the wind on separate at the joint. Anyway a good weekend for Reef Magic coming 6th overall in the tag & release with Max also winning champion junior angler for the 3rd time with us. He has had great support from his family especially his dad Paul who stands by his side encouraging him every time we head out. Cheers Damo #reefmagiccharters See more

06.01.2022 Well it’s all kicked off this week with anywhere from Narooma to JB having bluefin show up in good numbers. Our mate Dave dished out of Bateman’s Bay got a solid one at 103kg while Ben on Charter Fish Narooma bagged a monster at 148kg. Today the yellowfin went nuts south of Port Stephens on that temperature edge with boats having them bust up everywhere and catching multiple fish. If you’re keen to get out after them give us a call and we can organize a charter for you. Cheers Damo
