24.01.2022 It's taken me a week, but I've finally got the v6 Prado engine block free of carbon. Now I can rebuild it knowing it will last a long time and not seize any more cams. I used a boroscope to look inside the oil galleries. They were badly carboned up. Now spotless.

24.01.2022 VW golf. 1.4 liter TSI. Water pump, cam box gasket and timing belt kit.

23.01.2022 1976 G60 patrol. Hasn't been started in 20 years. Slightly seized engine. Got it turning over , lifters freed up. And burst into life. Couldn't believe the old mechanical fuel pump actually still worked.

19.01.2022 Hyundai i30. Found engine had 70psi compression on cylinders 2 and 4. Cylinder pressure test revealed air going back up inlet valves. Engine also badly carboned up on the inside. Too costly to repair. Picked up a second hand engine and swapped it out today.

19.01.2022 NA fairlane got a reconditioned cylinder head. Also had to replace the camshaft due to the hardness being worn off a few cam lobes from going rusty. No short cuts taken! Every head is tested! Then Reconditioned or replaced as required. New gaskets seals head bolts etc. Not a quick job to do right but way better than doing it twice!

17.01.2022 AMG Mercedes-Benz. Change gear selector module inside Automatic transmission. The entire valve body has to be removed to access the electronics.

17.01.2022 Here's my Sunday. My son's GU Patrol won't start. It has the ZD30 engine with a VP44 injector pump. I don't want to pay thousands of dollars for another pump, so I've been doing a fair bit of research on the vp44 injector pumps. I opened up the electronics cover and found what every other non working pump has failed. One transistor worth 5 dollars to buy. I've almost finished repairing it, so fingers crossed we'll have it running later today.

15.01.2022 Just like to apologize for cancelling jobs today. I've been at the hospital all day with my baby son who picked up a viral infection from his daycare. I'd like to thank the parent who's kid was sick and took them to daycare anyway. My wife and I have not only lost sleep because of it, but have also suffered financial loss. 12.01.2022 My son got his learners and was driving for the first time on the road. Within 30 minutes, some woman driver sped up from 3 car lengths behind when he indicated to merge to the right and almost caused an accident. Really appreciate her shit driving skills.

09.01.2022 Engine swap in XR6 turbo ute from red top to blue. Apparently the blue top engines have forged internals in them and hang together better than their predecessors.

09.01.2022 This is the view I had while working on the warf crane on Christmas Island 5 years ago. I had to locate and repair an electrical fault that caused the cranes engine to shut down so the island food supplies could be unloaded from the ship.

07.01.2022 Citroen C4. Two mechanics said it needs a new ECU. Car wouldn't start. I checked it over, fitted a 30 amp fuse where it should have had one. Car started. Amazing.. Guess it doesn't need a new ECU after all. However, it does still need to have half a day spent on it to sort out another issue. But is running now.

07.01.2022 New timing belt kit for this Holden Colorado diesel. Seals as well. Silly not to replace the oil seals when doing a timing belt.

04.01.2022 Nissan Patrol GU with a ZD30 engine. Fit new injector pump (VP44) and get running.

04.01.2022 The things I get myself into. Ripped up the old busted wooden flooring and weld in sheet metal. This can be covered in a non slip paint or the non slip tape.

01.01.2022 This 3.2 liter, 5 cylinder diesel Ford Ranger got a new set of glow plugs. The inlet manifold has to be removed to gain access to the glow plugs for removal and replace. While I had the inlet manifold off, I gave it a clean as well. It was getting choked up with carbon.
