23.01.2022 It's taken me a week, but I've finally got the v6 Prado engine block free of carbon. Now I can rebuild it knowing it will last a long time and not seize any more cams. I used a boroscope to look inside the oil galleries. They were badly carboned up. Now spotless.

23.01.2022 V8 Landrover Vogue has undergone a comprehensive rebuild from melting a piston to being put back together ready for the new owner. This engine build has been very time consuming and complex, I wouldnt recommend any one taking it on if you arent very confident in your own ability. When we were cleaning up all parts ready to be refitted, we found a large ball of blue sylicone stuck in the piston squirters for number 4 and 8 cylinders. The blue sylicone came from the oil c...ooler gasket in the center of the block. I believe it is the cause of the pistons melt down. Not getting any oil squirted on the head of the piston to help cool it. A fatal mistake by the mechanic who tried to fix an oil leak from under the cooler. There was a huge amount of sylicone through the entire oil system from the excessive use of it. Plus the fact its the wrong product to be used in that particular area. See more

22.01.2022 Nissan Patrol GU with a ZD30 engine. Fit new injector pump (VP44) and get running.

19.01.2022 Got my son a GU Patrol to replace his wrecked Navara. Going to swap engines from the Navara to the patrol. Hes already done some other upgrades like wheels and tires. Since I took this photo, hes given it a bath and made it look even better. Just waiting on the 3 inch exhaust to arrive.

17.01.2022 BMW 525i owner took his car to BMW to get diagnosed. After a fine tuning of his wallet, they told him he needed an 11,000 dollar gearbox. I had a look at it under live data with my scan tool and found the gear position indicator wasnt working. Came up faulty. So I had a look at it and found it not plugged in properly. No more gear changing issues. Happy guy...

16.01.2022 Just like to apologize for cancelling jobs today. Ive been at the hospital all day with my baby son who picked up a viral infection from his daycare. Id like to thank the parent whos kid was sick and took them to daycare anyway. My wife and I have not only lost sleep because of it, but have also suffered financial loss. 15.01.2022 I have been doing a fair bit of research on the vp44 injector pumps and what causes the electronics of the pump to fail. Myself and one of my customers is trying to repair the ECU on top of the pump. One avenue we are looking at will cost around $1600 for exchange vp44 injector pump from the Patrols and Navaras with the ZD30. The other avenue, should it work, will be around $850 mark exchange.

15.01.2022 1976 G60 patrol. Hasnt been started in 20 years. Slightly seized engine. Got it turning over , lifters freed up. And burst into life. Couldnt believe the old mechanical fuel pump actually still worked.

15.01.2022 Citroen C4. Two mechanics said it needs a new ECU. Car wouldnt start. I checked it over, fitted a 30 amp fuse where it should have had one. Car started. Amazing.. Guess it doesnt need a new ECU after all. However, it does still need to have half a day spent on it to sort out another issue. But is running now.

14.01.2022 My sons Navara kept my wife relatively safe in the accident she had. Rolled my sons car. The plus side is the engine didnt get damaged in the crash. I left it sit right way up for 24 hours, then it fired right up.

13.01.2022 This 3.2 liter, 5 cylinder diesel Ford Ranger got a new set of glow plugs. The inlet manifold has to be removed to gain access to the glow plugs for removal and replace. While I had the inlet manifold off, I gave it a clean as well. It was getting choked up with carbon.

12.01.2022 This BMW E83 X3 needs some love to get it going again. A stuffed engine coolant plastic housing dumped the water out and cooked it.

11.01.2022 Here it is. Finished being assembled and ready to get put back into the Navara. My son has done an amazing job. Im proud of him for his commitment and hard work.

11.01.2022 NA fairlane got a reconditioned cylinder head. Also had to replace the camshaft due to the hardness being worn off a few cam lobes from going rusty. No short cuts taken! Every head is tested! Then Reconditioned or replaced as required. New gaskets seals head bolts etc. Not a quick job to do right but way better than doing it twice!

10.01.2022 ZD30 owners... This is what causes the VP44 pumps to fail. The wiring inside the cloth sheath looses its insulation and touches together, shorting out the pump. This particular engine was still running when I took it out to do a full rebuild from cracked pistons. I will reinsulate the wiring so it doesnt fail after putting the engine back in the patrol. I cut the wires, and use a thick heat shrink to insulate the wires again. Finish off by wrapping the wires up and put them back where they were.

09.01.2022 This is the view I had while working on the warf crane on Christmas Island 5 years ago. I had to locate and repair an electrical fault that caused the cranes engine to shut down so the island food supplies could be unloaded from the ship.

09.01.2022 Called out to Mudtapilly to check an oil leak on a Massey Ferguson Tractor. First thought was the rear main engine seal. Further inspection revealed the tachometer drive housing at the back of the block was the culprit.

08.01.2022 The things I get myself into. Ripped up the old busted wooden flooring and weld in sheet metal. This can be covered in a non slip paint or the non slip tape.

06.01.2022 Helping my son build his first engine. Paint color scheme and all is his work. He is putting it together with me showing him how. Brand new cylinder head. New 1mm over size pistons, all new bearings throughout. New gaskets and seals. Nothing left to chance. This D22 Navara is going to be his first ride. Im proud of him.

05.01.2022 Heres my Sunday. My sons GU Patrol wont start. It has the ZD30 engine with a VP44 injector pump. I dont want to pay thousands of dollars for another pump, so Ive been doing a fair bit of research on the vp44 injector pumps. I opened up the electronics cover and found what every other non working pump has failed. One transistor worth 5 dollars to buy. Ive almost finished repairing it, so fingers crossed well have it running later today.

05.01.2022 Engine swap in XR6 turbo ute from red top to blue. Apparently the blue top engines have forged internals in them and hang together better than their predecessors.

04.01.2022 Got 2 ZD30 engine builds on the go. One is out of a GU Patrol and the other is out of a D22 Navara. While they have the same engine code and share a few different parts, the blocks are not the same. The bell housing pattern is different as well as head protrusion being 30 thou different.

03.01.2022 AMG Mercedes-Benz. Change gear selector module inside Automatic transmission. The entire valve body has to be removed to access the electronics.

03.01.2022 Cylinder head off the BMW. Finally got time tonight to finish removing it. Blown gasket between every cylinder. I still have to clean up the cylinder bores to see if it needs a re-ring or not.

01.01.2022 Wow, the Nissan Patrol I have rebuilt the engine of left this afternoon back to the owner. After getting it going, checking everything over, test drive revealed that the roo systems performance chip will actually cause the engine to melt due to very high combustion temperatures. I installed a pirometer so the owner can monitor combustion temperatures and hopefully prevent the engine having another melt down. Runs beautifully and nice and smooth. First service is 1000 ks for new engine.

01.01.2022 Repaired a hydraulic leak on a bobcat. Oil leaking from a fitting on the left drive motor. The 3rd photo shows part of the high temperature "O" ring has been squashed between the washer and locking nut. Cleaned up the thread and fitting, fit a new "O" ring (Viton) put back together and test. No more leaks.
