12.01.2022 We are thrilled to have the incredible and inspiring, Darren Hicks, on board as an ambassador for our Virtual Ride for Sick Kids Growing up, Darren always had a passion for cycling. After a tragic vehicle accident in 2014, Darren had his right leg amputated above the knee and cycling became part of his rehabilitation program. Within a year of the accident, Darren was already competing in his first race, and, in 2017, he won silver medals in both the Time Trial and Road Rac...e at the Para-cycling Road World Championships in South Africa a seriously impressive feat after only a year and a half of proper training! His accolades have grown since then, qualifying for the Australian team, taking home several championships, and even setting a world record for the 3km individual pursuit. He now has his sights set on the next Paralympic Games in 2021, where he is training hard every day to hopefully represent Australia in Tokyo, Japan. Darren will be putting aside his intense training schedule for a good cause, to raise money for our House via the Virtual Ride. Darren has committed to ride 545kms over the ten-day period. BUT, if you all can dig deep and help him raise over $2,000, he will also dig deep and ride a whopping 1,000km!! Although he has one less leg, Darren certainly has double the heart! Get behind Darren, and help him achieve his target by donating to his fundraising page NOW: https://fundraise.rmhc.org.au//virtual-ride-for-sick-kids-
