09.01.2022 Cleaning swimming pools after floods. When a swimming pool has been inundated with floodwater it is NOT essential that it be restored immediately. But it is essential to make it safe. When flood waters have receded pool fencing will need to be assessed to determine the fencing is in tact to prevent accidental drowning. Local council should be able to provide advice on swimming pool fencing requirements. For your safety check pool surrounds for snakes, spiders etc are not a t...hreat as some may appear to be dead but are still alive. If the pool equipment was flooded it will need a licensed electrician to check the circuits and each electrical fitting to ensure they are safe. Severe damage may mean the pool area should be secured, made safe until a consultant or insurance assessor is able to give professional advice. DO NOT pump out a swimming pool immediately as this may cause more structural damage. An empty pool, particularly a fibreglass pool, may pop out of the ground. This cant be done until all water has subsided and there is no water table underground. Eventually the pool may need to be pumped/cleaned out to allow a full assessment of the damage. While out of action you will need to hand feed it chlorine every couple of days to help prevent mosquito breeding. Local council needs to be consulted as to where the pool contents may be discharged. It is not appropriate to pump out the pool water to the sewer. If pool wasn’t inundated and no soil or debris present but still very dirty or green you may need to vacuum to waste or floc your pool. We are currently waiting on the council to get back to us in regards to the bylaws of draining pools after a flood. We have received this information from department of health. Regards RnR Pool Shop

08.01.2022 Tip of the week: Keep an eye on the water clarity with the rain. When the rain stops be sure to pop in with a water sample.

08.01.2022 NO SALT We have run out of salt again however still have plenty of the other chemical left.

07.01.2022 Going away for the summer holidays? Before you go, check your chemical levels, organise someone to top up water and remove automatic cleaners and vacuum plates. Cleaner hoses can become blocked and restrict water flow to the pump which can cause costly pump damage.

01.01.2022 Swimming season has arrived. Neglected your pool over the cooler months? Remember it costs nothing to bring a water sample in to the shop for analysis. *TIP FOR THE WEEK - make sure your salt cell is clean and your equipment is running for at least 8 hours a day to keep your water sanitary and your chlorine production maximised.

01.01.2022 We have run out of Salt, Stabiliser, and have very little Calcium and Buffer left.
