25.01.2022 Another storm now. Small hail as well.

25.01.2022 Angus was very comfortable in his hay dish this morning.

24.01.2022 It was time for a new duck pond liner here on the farm. A very dirty job that had to be done. The end result is great. The ducks and goose are loving it.

24.01.2022 There goes another one. On the fence as usual. Gggrrr

24.01.2022 R & R Farm Stay Mallanganee NSW $15 per night, kids stay , no power, hot shower and toilet. We had heard great things about R & R Farm stay through the Tra...vel Australia With Kids Facebook Page and it also had rave reviews on WikiCamps so we wanted to check it out for ourselves. We were not disappointed! It was a little out of our way as we headed to the Gold Coast but we didnt want to go to a caravan park and at $15 per night it was worth it. It is owned by a lovely couple Lehanne and Bruce who make you feel so welcome, like youre old friends coming to visit. It was feeding time when we arrived so Lehanne took the kids to feed the animals while we set up camp. Miss 10 came back with a wealth of knowledge on alpacas. We also got to see some of the products Lehanne makes with the alpacas fleece. The farm is also set up for off the grid living and we got to have a look at their set up of solar and batteries. It was pretty impressive. These guys have worked so hard to make the farm what it is today and are so happy to share it with those who come to stay. Glad we stopped at this one #camping #camplife #farmstay #farm #alpaca #tent #blackwolfadventuregear #travelaustraliawithkids #australia #nsw #traveloz #familytravel

24.01.2022 It's been a very busy weekend here at R & R. Friday (Bruce's rdo) we managed to source the posts for the lookout from trees down the back but had a hard time debarking them because they were full of water. So after finishing that on Saturday morning we only got one into place. Today was a big effort and got the other 3 posts in. No photo of that yet as we finished the last one in the pouring rain with thunder and lightning all around us. We had to secure the roof back in place otherwise we would have got the hell out of there. Never a dull moment here we got 37.5 mls out of it and it looks like we are in for more this evening. Cheers L

23.01.2022 Busy time at the farm.

23.01.2022 Tree guard number 3 in the goat paddock. A little black goat who shall remain nameless decided to try and ringbark the Jacaranda last Saturday. So we had to redo the guard in 40 degree heat. Gggrrr What a good goat (Not)

22.01.2022 Brother & Sisterly love:-)

22.01.2022 40mls in the gauge this morning, yahooo

21.01.2022 Introducing Miss Mini Mouse our latest addition to R & R Farm born 18th March. Soo tiny and cute:-)

20.01.2022 Crews out again today working on Old Tenterfield Rd doing property protection again. One house we thought we would not save we did I think with a lot of good luck, sadly we did lose one house which has knocked us a bit.

20.01.2022 Yet another tree guard in the goat paddock. Fingers crossed the damage to the trunk isn't too serious.

19.01.2022 Still helping out on the fire line the last couple of days. Back out again on Tuesday. High winds from the east are pushing it away from our place but that isnt helping to contain it.

19.01.2022 We had a very quick fierce storm hit yesterday, but today it went around us. Looking good on the farm after some great rain. The tanks are full, just hoping for more to refill our dams. Soo lucky here.

19.01.2022 We just had our first little storm for the season, yay. 16mls of lovely rain. The alpacas ran for the shed, they seem to know when the hail is coming. Luckily it was very small.

18.01.2022 Its raining on the range, ya hoo.

18.01.2022 We have had over 200 mls so far with this heading our way now. All the dams and tanks are full, yay. The goats are not happy, but the ducks are loving it.

18.01.2022 After a 36 degree day yesterday we got a nice little storm pass over and dumped 8 lovely mls of rain on us last night. Dont be too jealous all you Territorians. Ha ha.

18.01.2022 The Bougainvillea is the only plant enjoying the drought.

16.01.2022 Well this was a nice surprise. A little red bull calf. Very unexpected. He is the first red one we have had. Both parents have Belmont Red and Senepol breeding in their background which would explain it. He is one of 6 we have so far, with 3 still to come.

15.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that has sent messages regarding the fires. The worst one has been 14ks away but with the river between it and our place. I was out fighting until midnight on Tuesday and we both were out all day yesterday when it was 40 degrees. Today it is overcast and 25 degrees. Amazing. Our thoughts go out to the farmers that have lost their homes and livestock. Photo 1 is what we were heading into on Tuesday afternoon. Photo 2 where we were Tuesday evening and number 3 is the tree that came down and just touched the back of the truck as we drove past. Just want to send a huge shout out to all the RFS volunteers, especially our crew who were champions saving 7 houses at the Jumbulum Village. Great work people.

15.01.2022 We got the blood test results for our cows and are happy to say that 10 out of 10 are pregnant. Yay. Nice work Brucee for taking the samples and we will keep the bulls on the pay roll a bit longer.

14.01.2022 Happy Australia Day. It is with great pride that we can announce that we were nominated for business of the year at our local Kyogle Shire West of the Range Australia Day Awards today. We would like to congratulate the Bonalbo Post Office for winning the award. Well deserved. Also congratulations to Tabulam Rural Agents for their nomination as well. Thank you to whom ever nominated us, it was a lovely surprise, to the committee for a great day and to all our wonderful guests and friends that have supported us since we opened our gates.

14.01.2022 We left the farm in some very capable farm sitters hands for our annual trip to Grafton for the show. We had a great time as usual and set up our best display of fleeces so far, (I think). While we were away Marcia and Jim did some unexpected but wonderful gardening for us. I think they have gone home for a rest. It has given me the inspiration to continue the work before the garden club comes for another visit in June. Check out the before and after photos.

13.01.2022 Heres a couple of photos of just 2 of the cracks we have on the farm due to lack of moisture. They are everywhere. But can you believe the Jacaranda has for its first ever flowers on the branch on the right. You have got to wonder at how these things work. I never water this tree.

13.01.2022 The lookout is open for business. 4 new posts, the roof is back on and the rails are up to keep the cattle out.

12.01.2022 Amy had here triplets late Sunday afternoon. 1 male and 2 females. All doing well so far. Still waiting on 2 more girls.

12.01.2022 2018 calving has started. 6 so far out of 15:-)

11.01.2022 The kids are growing up so fast. I have to feed them all separately now so the mums get enough to eat.

10.01.2022 We had a great storm late yesterday and got 34mls. It is certainly looking promising again now with storms on 3 sides of us. Hopefully we will get some more rain but without the wind and crash and bang of yesterday.

10.01.2022 Its raining, bloody beauty.

10.01.2022 First babies go to Mini Mouse. 2 little brown girls and 1 black and white boy. All well so far. She is a great mum. 3 more does waiting to deliver. Stay tuned.

10.01.2022 We are pleased to introduce our new fur baby at R & R Farm. "Friday" needed a new home through no fault of her own so we decided we had been dogless long enough. And no, she is not a GSP, shock horror, but she is a lovely dog and very quick to learn. We hope she has a long and happy life with us.

09.01.2022 We have a new box of quackers on the farm. The incubator has done another great job. 6 more little ones to play with. Some of our guests saw them in the shells in the incubator. Cheers.

09.01.2022 Introducing our latest member of the menagerie here at R & R. Angus aka scruffy. He is our lovely mini buck to give us lots of beautiful kids we hope.

06.01.2022 We had some guests at R & R Farm Stay over the weekend and the kids helped me dye some yarn for the region. 100 gram, 8ply, dyed, cream and tweed skeins $25 each.

06.01.2022 Yet another tree guard in the goat paddock. Fingers crossed the damage to the trunk isnt too serious.

04.01.2022 Baby chickens here on the farm, so cute

04.01.2022 Another beautiful sunset here on the farm. Photo not as good as the real thing.

01.01.2022 Libby & Chilly were enjoying a brush from our little visitors Seth & Mia. The Alpacas got spoilt as well:-)
