16.01.2022 FIRE EMERGENCY DONATION DRIVE @ HOXTON PARK PUBLIC SCHOOL UPDATE - WEDNESDAY 8TH (12 PM) Good afternoon! Today is the FINAL DAY to make your donations at school.... We will be OPEN UNTIL 7 PM before we close donations to pack everything up and send it off to Foodbank. Foodbank has also updated their list of items most in demand. These include: bottled water, UHT milk, good quality tinned food and meals (with ring pulls - not requiring can openers), cereals, pantry staples (like rice and pasta), 'grab and go' items like muesli bars, personal care items (listed further down in this post) and pet food. As always, we must turn down donations that we cannot pass on. Thank you again to the community for their generosity. IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE THIS AFTERNOON, volunteers are needed from 4 pm! No need to be in touch - just show up! A note to volunteers: Please use street parking this evening to allow only cars making pick-ups, and later the trucks, to use onsite parking. IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE THIS EVENING, please join us from 6 pm! Many hands are needed to pack donations onto the trucks. Bring friends or family with you! See you from 4 PM! UPDATE - TUESDAY 7TH (8AM) Good morning! Thank you to those who have offered to volunteer today. Please keep your donations coming in. Again, it is vital that ONLY the items listed in the post are donated. We cannot find homes for the extras at this time. UPDATE - MONDAY 6TH (9 PM): A MEGA day today at Hoxton Park PS! Our volunteers worked hard to sort and pack the many donations received from the local and wider community. NOW, WE NEED HELP. If you can make yourself available to volunteer during the next two days, please comment below. There are huge volumes of donations expected. We will also be putting on a sausage sizzle for volunteers on Tuesday at lunchtime. Please respond before 9 am tomorrow if volunteering on Tuesday so that we can cater accordingly. UPDATE - MONDAY 6TH: DONATIONS WILL BE SENT TO FOODBANK who will distribute to areas and people in need. It is vital that ONLY the items listed in our post are donated. Unfortunately, we cannot accept other items. Specifically, please donate clothes to your local charity store. FOOD ITEMS MUST BE IN-DATE. It costs the school to dispose of out-of-date food items. If possible, please bring your items in cardboard boxes including any empty boxes you might have to help us to pack and transport items easily. Your donations are very much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you all over the next three days! Many have reached out asking whether clothing donations would be useful. These donations will gladly be accepted at local charity stores and can be re-distributed or sold to help those in need. More urgently, we need BOTTLED WATER. Many on the south coast are without drinking water. If possible, please prioritise donating slabs of drinking water in the coming days. ** Hoxton Park Public School in partnership with Rona Transport is collecting donations to help in the immediate aftermath of the bushfires that have devastated the NSW south coast. HPPS will be open on - MONDAY 6TH - 4 pm to 7 pm - TUESDAY 7TH- 11 am to 3 pm - WEDNESDAY 8TH - 4 pm to 7 pm The following donations will be accepted: - BOTTLED WATER - FOOD - NON-PERISHABLES ONLY (eg. camping food, UHT milk) - BATHROOM ESSENTIALS: - Soap - Toilet paper - Toothbrushes & toothpaste - Hair brushes & combs - Shampoo & conditioner - Sanitary items - pads, tampons, incontinence pads - Deodorant - BABY ESSENTIALS: - Nappies & baby wipes - Baby formula - Maternity pads - Baby wash & baby shampoo - Nappy rash cream - PET FOOD Please bring items in boxes if possible.
