25.01.2022 Hello Everybody..... 21/2 years ago there was nothing that could describe my sadness over the loss of the Australia Local Vehicle Manufacturing Industry..... In a 1 x year period we lost our 3 x remaining marques in Holden, Ford & Toyota .... And still we fall with now the complete loss of Holden in Australia .... and sadly its seems GM cannot leave the country quick enough & with it try to erase the memory that Holden ever existed ... There are no further words.... This a ...Continue reading

24.01.2022 At Road2Race, I haven't had a lot to do with the Hyundai I30N.... Though I tell you what, I think they will be "coming". I recently had this perfect example come into the workshop for some client supplied Whiteline springs, a rear sway bar and a minor modification using a Whiteline bushing upgrade to tighten up the lower engine torque arm. I enjoyed this job and I also used the opportunity to have a good look over the car so I could get a feel for just what the Hyundai Engine...ers have been up to. The real stand out under the car was the attention to "aero devices" and I have attached as many photos as I can to demonstrate this. Have a look at that streamlined under car view... nothing protudes, flat panels & fill in's... it all low drag .... Even the muffler wasn't spared a little aero device.... There is not much standard I30 about this upgraded model. There is attention to detail around every corner.... A much revised front suspension, electronic dampening control, brakes, aero, turbo charged.... everything....... !! We really do have a new player in the game with the I30N

22.01.2022 Hello Everybody..... I just wish to throw out a small helpful hint for setting up sway bar links.... I have been inspired to do this from workshop experience of set ups presented and feel this aspect of sway bar install is a little misunderstood....Continue reading

22.01.2022 Hello Everybody..... Just taking a short moment to display a couple of set ups through the Road2Race operations recently..... 1/ MX5 for some further refinement & enhancement .... After fitting coilovers approx 12 months ago and with some track time and customer feed back (so important) it was time to attack the set up again.... The projects works included off set front lower control arm bushes & longer mounting lower ball joints which vastly improved front geometry in both... caster & camber. In went a set of polyurethane rack mounts & sway bar links bushes... then back on the aligner where I gave every trick in the book... 2/ STI for the install of MCA Red Series coilovers, Whiteline rear camber adjustable rear control arms and some very comprehensive set up & geometry.... This car is being staged in preperation for Targa Tasmania and had its first trial with this set up at SMP on the weekend with a few more events this year to follow Have a great week

22.01.2022 Hello everybody, Well, being now an aging older tradie in the game of all things automotive, my childhood and learning to drives year was all about Holdens & Fords..... Half of my mates were into Holden & the other have Ford..... that was life in the 80's & 90's for me.... Coming from a family of Holdens, this is what side of the fence I came from..... Though in the end it didnt matter to much ... We had Torana's, Kingwoods, HQ's, Commodores, Falcons & Valiants with big six's... and V8's .... So when local Australian Car Manufacturing ceased 2-3 years ago it was a crushing blow that I still feel very much today and always will..... Anyway, In the moment we are in now it is always extra special when an Austalian built car graces the workshop floor.... On this occasion recenty I was asked by the owner of this immaculate VF Redline Ute to recommend some suspension upgrades .... At just over 100 000k the performance of the factory dampers was starting to fall off..... The owner of this vehicle has an intense speedway back ground and these guys know more than a thing or two about shocks / dampers and the dramatic impact they have on a cars grip & performace.... This now presented the perfect opportunity to consider some suspension upgrades and thats exactly what we did..... For this vehicle we selected the ShockWorks coil over package which features both front & rear inverted units.... The valving codes on these dampers are well developed and tuned and deliver a great onroad feel..... Being of the inverted design means the damper control adjustment is on the bottom of the coil over unit eliminating the requirement to drill a hole through the floor to gain access for the rear top damper adjuster.... Nice touch...!! Best of care everyone and hope your having a good weekend

17.01.2022 Hello Everybody, With a view to perhaps in the future transition some of my work to "pit lane" .... I have found myself researching and purchasing some mobile equipment that would be required for such an endeavour.... On this quite Sunday, I decided to spend a day at the shop & trial one of these recent purchases in a String Wheel Aligner... ... Whilst I have always objected the thought of using a string wheel alignment set up, I needed an alternative that could be bullet prove accurate and a plausible off site option. Allowing myself to be open minded, researching and spending time having a good think about it, including the requirement of an accurate means of toe settings, it was soon very clear that the physics behind using a string wheel aligner cannot be wrong..... The idea of constructing a square box around your car, locking your steering wheel dead straight, then measuring off the wheels just works.... Though you must have volumes of patience, set the equipment up perfectly and just work hard at it until you get it right. I tell you though, I felt like a bloody fish out of water..... There is nothing like using the shop wheel aligner with life readings and having unlimited vehicle access on the 4 x post hoist..... The work I do on race cars will always start from the workshop.... Some things never change. To conclude it was a great learning curve today..... You never stop learning and it is the fascination to keep educating myself and further understanding my work that stimulates me to keep going in my aging years.... Stay safe & well everyone during this challenging time gripping the planet at the moment.... Peter

15.01.2022 Workshop Days ... "Snapshots" Happy Weekend Everybody...

15.01.2022 The choice drink of "Champions".... Happy Fathers Day to all the "Super Dads"..... Cheers

11.01.2022 Hello everbody..... They say you cannot break a Toyota Landcruiser and they will easy do over 1/2 a million kilometres...... Well, I have a loyal customer of many years who continues to "prove up" this theory with this featured vehicle.... Yes, 4WD's really are not my thing though at times I just help with a few.... Just have a look at the tracks, roads and deserts conquered and proudly displayed on the side doors..... These are some of the harshest outback endeavours you c...ould possibly find and this landcruiser has crossed them all..... And its about to head off again up & beyond Bourke..... So this week it was in for a bit of an undercar freshen up with some new bushings... clean & regrease of other poly bushes and alignment duties. I also carried out a service & new battery for good measure...... And chatting to the owner, the journeys for this vehicle are far from over and will continue to tame many rugged roads of this great Australian country Have a great weekend

10.01.2022 Hello Everybody, This nearing completion "FJ Holden Ute" simply commanded attention from all persons whilst gracing the workshop floor for a couple of days recently.... Iconic, unique & rare are attributes every person and auto enthusiast respect and appreciate from a vehicle that is so rich within Australia's Automotive Manufacturing history...... Featuring a "Rod Shop" custom coil over front end with rack & pinion steering, I thought the engineering was a work of art bringing the steering, suspension and handling performance into the modern era... Sporting a mild Holden Red 6cyl, this classic is the ultimate cruiser and Coffee & Cars hit....

07.01.2022 Hello Everybody... I wish to dedicate this post to Brendan. You see, it was always a long range plan of Brendan's to one day own a Subaru WRX and with hard work & committment thats exactly what happened. Enter this very fine GD 2006 pictured.... What made this WRX pretty unique is that it was purchased in a completely unmodified state .... So all in all this car was doing very well & a great platform to begin with... There was never any real plan to go down the path of "extr...eme modifications" though if you own a car like this there is always a burning desire to enhance & unlock a little of the potential that these cars behold.... I mean, by design and with such extensive development of parts through the aftermarket.... The stars really become the limit.... Though the brief from Brendan was simple.... a cost effective upgrade to the handling & exhaust so I can smile with the sweet sound of the boxer engine... Just a plan to build some fun into the driving experience of the WRX. So that was it.... I recently fitted a set of BC coilovers BR RH Series and complemented the install with a highly accurate ride height setup & alignment.... At the same time Brendan delivered to me the exhaust... well most of it.... I had to fabricate up one small front section to make it fit all up..... To conclude for now this is no "Dyno Numbers" car & never will be..... Just a reliable factory biased set up delivering a vastly improved handling experience with the perfect Subaru exhaust note. Wishing you all a good weekend.... Cheers See more

05.01.2022 Nothing else like the sound of a V8 breaking the silence barrier. Geoff Brisby's Commodore lit up the track at last weeks Esses Hill Climb Event..... Bathurst Countryside picture perfect after some much needed recent rain.....

05.01.2022 And some more....!!

04.01.2022 Hi Everyone..... I just thought I would take a moment to share an interesting job through the workshop that commenced a couple of months ago & is ongoing..... Most truly a "new kid on the block" is this featured Honda Civic Type R 2018 and was presented to me with only a few hundred K's on the clock. The primary intended usage for this vehicle is for track days & sprints.... In the beginning the car was completely stock with my first task of just assessing the car, getting t...o know it and familiarize myself with what the Honda Engineer's have been up to with this hot spec model. It really is a nicley built machine & clearly this vehicle is purpose built to please on the road & track with Honda taking the aero package very seriously compared to most. What also makes this car very educational is that with the vehicles first track day being with know modifictions, we have the perfect opportunity to base line the cars performance & great platform to gauge all future modifications & adjustments. Well, I may have to correct myself just a little..... Before leaving for the first day I did carry out a wheel alignment just to make sure we were in the window. OK, first track day and the Civic made it into the 1.53's at Sydney Motor Sport Part..... Not bad.... Stock engine ... Stock everything.... Now it was time to just take it to the next level.... I fitted a set of Whiteline KCA 467 front rear control arm mounts... Complete replacement which adds a little more caster & antilift properties & also a 22mm rear sway bar. Next time on the track & I am guessing with a bit of driver practice also the Honda was a good 3 x seconds faster breaking into the low 1.50's.... Still with a stock engine..... So thats it for the moment.... the car is doing well, very balanced & easy to drive.... I will wait to see where the owner wishes to take it next though I think some engine tuning is coming up... Peter

02.01.2022 Hello Everybody, On any other year, Easter is a rare opportunity to lift off the gas for a few days off..... Though in 2020 we multiplied it a couple of times over and truly home bound during these very surreal times.... In fact, I was suppose to be at the Bathurst 6 x hour for a unique opportunity to help in pit lane. Though come early March the world was flipped onto it head..... Yes, the black flagged was waved accross the broad spectrum of sports, entertainment and events........ and we have been delivered this unique moment to reset and rejuvenate....... And that we will .... This is all solvable and how good is it going to feel when we transition back into the normal... Anyway, I thought what a good time to reflect on a year so far and give some attention to a much neglected Road2Race FB page..... The following is a variety of vehicles that have graced the workshop floor during this first 1/4 of 2020... I will also try to keep posting over the next couple of days.... Best of care everyone Peter
