23.01.2022 In an effort to save local lives, reduce the impact of road crashes and to highlight the importance of safe driving, Gilgandra Shire Council is hosting a Fatality Free Friday event this year. Held annually on the last Friday in May since its inception in 2007, Fatality Free Friday is the nation’s largest community-based road safety initiative. The campaign urges every motorist, passenger, cyclist and pedestrian to pledge their support for Fatality Free Friday and by doing so,... pledge personal responsibility for decisions they make when on or around roads because every decision made can mean the difference between life and death. Fatality Free Friday aims to educate and remind all road users on the individual role they play in reducing the devastating impact of road crashes on their lives and those of the wider community. I encourage those not in Gilgandra (and therefore unable to sign the inflatable car), to visit the Fatality Free Friday website below and record your road safety pledge to drive safely every time you use the road. If you’re in Gilgandra, then I’ll see you at the plaza in Miller Street from 12.00 noon You can all make a significant difference in reducing road trauma! The campaign is more than just a single day and whilst our target is to have a fatality free Friday on the 31st May 2019, ultimately, we are aiming for a longer term community change. #ChooseRoadSafety and take the pledge for Fatality Free Friday at www.arsf.com.au Together, we can save precious lives on our roads.
