21.01.2022 Compassion and Connectedness is important for well-being of the human person and society. Check out this November Happiness calendar from the Greater Good Science Center. This one’s going on my fridge I don’t always abide to them all, but I undoubtedly draw inspiration from it. It’s very easy to let such simple things slide, but I encourage you to challenge yourself, to get out of your comfort zone, and proactively make the world a slightly better place for yourself and ...others. Good luck and happy November!

16.01.2022 Often we are u sure of how to support people we care about in fear of offending them. We are cautious of Fauxpas, and lack confidence in providing culturally sensitive support. However, the human experience across languages and cultures, nationalities and ideologies, spiritualities and religions- are ultimately human. Love, trust, pain, and fear are fundamental to every being. It doesn’t matter who you support, and how little you know about their background. ... Authenticity prevails. Genuine care and empathy translates across languages and cultures.

11.01.2022 Struggle has a negative connotation. Most of us would likely opt against struggle, preferring to avoid it. Yet, it is such a paradox that we can’t seem to escape it. Struggle is everywhere. Unavoidable. Life is suffering after all. Let's take a moment and think about what we struggle for: ... - Work? - Family? - Relationships? - Faith/ Spirituality? - Skills we are striving to learn? - Health? - Fitness? - Wealth? Question is: The way we suffer through these endeavours- Are they worth it? Struggle is a part of life; so let's make our struggles count. So that our life counts. So that we can see the fruits of our struggles with joy and fulfilment. Think about meaningfulness. Think about how differently we can leave the world as we entered it. Think about our passions. Think about What and Who we have taken for granted. Think about how our struggles may benefit others, our children, our society, our nation, and humanity. We can then take a step back to re-evaluate what is it that we are willing to struggle for? And then, make our struggles count

09.01.2022 Relationships are complex because humans are complex. We live long lives and we fall in and out of love. It is important to navigate the grey areas with openness, and authenticity- to yourself and your partner. Life is also a learning journey so don’t be too critical of yourself and each other if you slip up. Just redirect and refocus, re-evaluate and repair. Easier said that done, for sure. But nothing important and meaningful (like the relationships in your life) can be s...ustained without effort. #relationships #relationshiptherapist #relationshiptherapy #relationshipgoals #exes #communicationskills #relationshipcommunication #relationshipadvice #relationshipcounselling #jealousy #insecurity #counsellingservices #counselorsofinstagram #mentalhealthmatters #mentalwellbeing #counselor #divorcerecovery #divorce #divorcecounseling #breakup #breakupsupport #breakuptherapy See more

06.01.2022 A Flowery Whiff A Day, Keeps the Shrinks Away? Maybe not. But I have found that the intoxicating fragrances of lilies in my home have had a Significant impact on my mood. So much so that I would carry the vase into my bedroom every night so I could bask in the aromas as I doze off and wake up to them. ... I found myself checking for buds that have bloomed overnight or during the day. I stick my nose on them at least a couple of times a day, makes my eyelids close and my eyeballs roll back, as a satisfactory grin spreads across my face. And then I heard this on the news today: Adding plants to front gardens reduces stress and makes people happier study This study examined cortisol levels before and after having plants. There’s something so innately grounding in the face of nature, something so humbling, a Beauty that tantalises our senses in a way we can never replicate. In those moments where you allow yourself to interact with nature, however domesticated your interaction is, the positive effects tend to prevail (unless you have an infestation of some sort). For a few moments in your day, you stop to attend, and appreciate... literally smell the roses. What better way than to have them roses or lilies or plants around your living and working space? Also my mother always loved lilies, so keeping them around me, especially when I sleep and awake, gives me an added sense of closeness and sentiment. It’s definitely worth choosing plants that means something to you, not only to connect you to nature and to reap the anti-stress benefits, but also to connect you to a memory, a sentiment, that’s important in your life. https://www.expressandstar.com//adding-plants-to-front-ga/ #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #flowerpower #nature #destressnaturally #aromatherapy #mindfulness #mindfulnesspractice #mindfulpractice #naturetherapy #lowercortisol #lowercortisolnaturally #naturehealsthesoul #natureathome #natureathomemakesmehappy #destresswithnature #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthresources

03.01.2022 Did you know that: 1. Our energy and abilities impact our perspective? If you are obese or tired, distances look farther to you. People wearing heavy backpacks see steeper hills in front of them than those without backpacks!... 2. Our body awareness affects our decisions? People who are more aware of their heartbeats are better able to calm themselves under stress and, therefore, make cooler decisions. Or it could be that successful people who are more attuned to their bodies interpret their perceptions more accurately, understanding how the two interact. 3. Being hungry (or not) changes our choices??! Judges make parole decisions just before their lunch breaks or the end of their day, they tend to deny parole. That’s because a decision to grant parole requires more careful considerationand, so, more energy. 4. Easy-to-read statements seem more true? YAH. 5. Our feelings affect our political views? People who are more easily disgustedwhen imagining things like a garbage pail filled with maggots or a piece of chocolate cake in the shape of dog pootend to be more conservative politically. And they tend to have stronger negative feelings about people who support sexual freedoms they disagree withlike gay rights or the right to an abortion. Feelings like disgustwhich come out of the limbic system of our brains, often below conscious awarenessguide our reactions and evaluations, making them less than impartial. 6. Feeling bad makes things seem harder? People listening to melancholic music tend to think a hill looks steeper than people listening to happy music. 7. Having other people around make things seem easier? Holding hands with someone while experiencing a painful event can lessen the pain. Anticipating having to carry a heavy load with someone else (as opposed to alone) makes it appear lighter....point to the centrality of our social relationships for resilience when things are hard. So... next time you think you know yourself or have the situation under control... think again! Read on for the research and explanations! =) https://greatergood.berkeley.edu//eight_reasons_to_distrus
