24.01.2022 HEY BOONAH - HEADS UP The Rural Fire Service in conjunction with the Scenic Rim Council will be conducting a Hazard Reduction Burn on Mt Carmel today (30th ...of August) to reduce the fuel load and risk for the current fire season. It will also encourage new, cleaner growth. There will be numerous Fire Appliances and smoke in the area so please, slow down and be vigilant. We're planning to kick off tomorrow at about 1pm, weather permitting. Please close up your house if you suffer from respiratory issues and keep medication close, there will be alot of smoke produced from this particular burn.

22.01.2022 Huge night out last night at Green hills fire! Got home 2:30am this morning! Thanks to Chris James Glen Lyons Nicholas Zimmermann and Crystal Kinsey for your efforts! Also huge thanks to Ripley,Marburg, Mt walker, and flinders peak! Great work team! Even know mt walker ended up with a flat tyre it was great to see some solid team work come into play!

19.01.2022 HEADS UP!! LOCAL FIRE BAN DECLARED NO lighting fires in the open from midnight tonight (0001hrs Wednesday 23rd September 2020) until midnight Saturday 26...th( 2359hrs) September 2020 in the following local Government areas: Logan Scenic Rim Ipswich Locker Valley Somerset All current Permits to Light Fire issued for the local fire ban area are hereby cancelled. It is expected to be hot, dry and windy, so stay off the power tools outside and anything else that can generate sparks and create havoc! THE FOLLOWING EXEMPTIONS APPLY: Fires lit for the purpose of cooking, that are: a. within a properly constructed receptacle such as a barbeque, gas or wood fired and pizza oven, and b. where the fire cannot escape or cause embers to drift, and c. there must be a fire extinguishing device available (e.g. garden hose or fire extinguisher) are permitted provided they are not left unattended. Fires lit for the purpose of providing warmth that are: a. lit within a properly constructed receptacle, such as fire pits and braziers, and b. that are used in suburban back yard, and c. no larger than 1m x 1m x 0.5m, and d. there is a fire extinguishing device available (e.g. garden hose or fire extinguisher), and e. the area is cleared of vegetation and embers cannot drift from the fire, and f. provided they are not left unattended are permitted between 1800 hrs to 0600 hrs. (6pm to 6am). THIS EXEMPTION DOES NOT INCLUDE BON FIRES. NB. Check with your Local Council By-laws Fires lit for the purpose of disposal of animal carcasses are permitted, subject to the issue of a permit by the local Fire Warden. Fires lit for commercial necessity are permitted subject to the issue of a permit to light fire by the Chief Fire Warden.

17.01.2022 Well what a day! Thank you to Flinders peak fire brigade and Ripley for coming together to do a joint brigade training session! Oh and a call out just to top it off! New skills were given and used and all members enjoyed the session! Will have to do it again soon! Rake hoe line, knapsack, burn over and water relay skills were used and demonstrated! Great day had by all! Thank you to Dean, Chris, Nicholas, Mitchell, Crystal and Glen for volunteering your time!

12.01.2022 Great weekend away at the volunteer summit! Fantastic and informative sessions where had and food was amazing! New friends were made and overall of this experience was a 10 out of 10! Shout out to all the organisers, staff, presenters, and volunteers who all came together and had a a blast!

Big thanks to Trent Moore from Allandale Rural Fire Brigade, Matt Morrison for the buggy from Rosevale Rural Fire Brigade and a huge shout out to the Roadvale crew of Chris James, Crystal Kinsey, Mitchell Keogh, Nicholas Zimmermann, Nikita Broadrick, Dean Laegel and his amazing girls and Wes Bust, Blazer and Bushy had the best time out and can’t wait for the next community event!
