22.01.2022 A few months ago I purchased an old pottery wheel and kiln for $100. Bargain. It’s taken me awhile to get around to finding space to fit this in to my creative life, however I cannot not try anything. I just managed to start greasing it up and getting the wheel actually moving. The House Sitter @jeaniegreenauthor In this book, Julie is house sitting a neighbouring horse property, dealing with a broken heart and using alcohol to help numb the pain. I connected to this part of the book because I used to drink everyday. It was something I thought you did to deal with your life, to cope with it, as a relaxing way to unwind after a day. ... Never really works like that though right? Second time sober now for over a year, this year I’ve been walking through the most painful heartbreak. For the first few months, I was in shock and spent a lot of time in bed, the physical pain actually stunned me, it’s been quite difficult. However, I started connecting to Self. To Me. And I get up almost every morning to meditate and watch the sun rise along the beach. Which is a far cry from my other world mornings of sore heads, dry mouths and grumpy minds. If you’ve followed my journey from way back you might think oh, haven’t we heard enough of this? No, sorry, I haven’t. There’s not enough talk about how great it is when you don’t drink regularly. For me, I art, I craft and I create with Spirit. I connect to the Divine and it’s because of where I have been, that allows me to create. So I’m grateful for that. I wake with gratitude everyday for not choosing drinking as a way to live. I’m still triggered at times with certain situations and I’m really fucking happy I’ve walked through this heartbreak without choosing to push away the pain with alcohol. I’ve stitched myself together with my art and my heart and it fills me with an enormous sense of peace and gratitude. There’s more space in my body and my mind to connect to my Spirit. My entry to the #biblioartprize2020 @blarneybooksandart (I finished it last night with two hours to spare and I was literally crawling on the floor with exhaustion as I put the frame around it.
