23.01.2022 "After many futile hours of shoveling dirt under the scorching Australian sun, Sean Doody began to think that he had made an embarrassing mistake and wasquite literallydigging himself into a hole. Doody is a herpetologist from the University of South Florida who has spent years studying Australia’s yellow-spotted goannaa predatory monitor lizard with long claws, a whiplike tail, and a sinuous, muscular body that can reach five feet in length. Its range is as large as Europ...e but contains just 3 million people, so despite the goanna’s size, it is seldom seen and remains mysterious. Until recently, for example, no one knew where it laid its eggs. Doody spoke to Aboriginal Australians who would often catch pregnant females near what looked like burrow entrances. But every time someone tried to reach in, they’d get up to their shoulder and hit a dead end, he told me." See more

09.01.2022 Yesterday I had the pleasure to chat with the Parks and Wildlife Service, Western Australia's Bush Ranger cadets at Yanchep Secondary College, showcasing our unique reptiles.

07.01.2022 One of Australia's rarest reptiles has been recorded at our Charnley River-Artesian Range Wildlife Sanctuary! The elusive Rough-scaled Python was found during... recent biodiversity surveys, which turned up many of the region's unique and threatened species. The property sits in the north-west Kimberley - one of the most important landscapes for conservation in the world. Artesian Range protects a suite of endemic species and provides refuge for others which have suffered severe declines or disappeared from the rest of northern Australia, like the Northern Quoll, Golden-backed Tree Rat and Golden Bandicoot - check back soon for survey snaps of these species. 04.01.2022 This is my entry in the #TSBakeOff 2020, so realistic isn't it?! . The Western spiny-tailed skink (Egernia stokesii badia) is an endangered Western Australian reptile that's just so darn cool. We had fun making this tasty cake and can't wait to see all the entries for #threatenedspeciesday on Monday. . George the bobtail lizard did enjoy modelling next to this incredibly lifelike spiny-tailed skink...

01.01.2022 What a great halloween event at Hawaiian's Melville with scaly mates at the frightful farm! Two hours of a chocolate hunt and excited kids coming back each time a different reptile came out to say hi. (I was hanging out by Kirby Swim Melville, Tankk Gourmet Fish & Chips & K2Dance so thanks to all the families for coming to say hi to the snakes while going to and from your activities!)
