11.01.2022 Happy International Day of Sign Language! Not only is it International day of sign language, this week is also for, National Deaf Dog Awareness Week! Meet Cleo, ... Cleo was one of our past fosters, she’s deaf and one of the most, smart, amazing dogs we’ve had the opportunity to foster! Cleo was totally scared of the world when she came to us, had no language, no skills, to help her thrive in her environment. But It didn’t take long for her to settle in and start showing her loving personality. As soon as we greeted her, that’s when her training started, first sign hello from there, the world opened up to her! She had access to language, love and was safe! By the time Cleo found her Pawfect forever home, she left us with over 30 signs she could understand and follow on command, and I’m not talking 1 word commands either. I use to sign to her whose a beautiful girl and her tail would wag with so much She was definetly a hard one to let go of but we were so proud of her and how far she had come. Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is an amazing language, if you have ever thought about learning, we say DO IT!! If you have ever thought about adopting a deaf dog, we say DO IT!!!! There is a lot of support out there and we can guarantee you won’t regret it! Deaf dogs rock!
