I was never really into lifting weight or CrossFit type workouts. I knew they worked, if done right, but there was never anywhere in Cootamundra that catered fully for this type of workout, now there is ROAR. And now I’m loving what’s on offer by a qualified trainer in Ben. 2. What advice would you give to someone new at ROAR? Work at your pace, listen to your body, keep focused on technique rather than reps......when you master that give it hell. Keep putting your shoes on, turn up, and enjoy your workout. 3. What’s your favourite activity outside of the gym? 4WDriving enjoying the country we have. 4. When you feel like stopping what motivates you to push through? My goals - where I came from and where I want to get to and the journey in between Tia Clair Toomey - to read her story is so motivating especially when reading her setbacks and mindset to succeed. She never competed with others only herself to be better than yesterday and became the Fittest Woman in the World three years in a row. 5. What changes to your health, physique, or performance have you noticed since starting at ROAR? 21kgs in 100 days. Yes it’s impressive but so is how I feel, move, my clothes fit, sleep, breathe and enjoy life. The biggest change coming from being quite overweight to where I currently am is the results my Dr gave me. 6. What’s your favourite workout song? Hmmm I have a couple that when I’m in the zone I either play or play in my head Eye of The Tiger Hearts on Fire Up the Mountain Training Montage If your around my age you will pick the movie but I dare you not to get a fire in your belly doing CrossFit at the same time. 7. If you could make up a workout what would it be? As a PT myself it wouldn’t be easy, it would suck big time to be honest but also empty the tank leaving you knowing you’ve given your all. It would be a workout to aim for personal bests with strength, conditioning, and cardio as a partnered workout. 8. Who inspires you at ROAR and Why? Everyone who walks in the door. Everyone is there for their own reasons and no one backs down. The really great thing I love is everyone is supportive and encouraging of each other to push that bit harder, faster, heavier and then congratulations all round when done.
