03.01.2022 Want to kick arse this year and make some changes in your life?? You can!! Have a read of this from my friend Bex, she has inspired me so much, changed my life, and made some serious $$ along the way. Everything changes once you have kids!... Do you have a minute for me to tell you my story?? Once I became a Mum to Jacob, my priorities immediately shifted... as they must! The things that had filled me with joy 12 months before... my busy corporate career of 15 years, business travel, workshops and project management.... suddenly felt empty and unimportant to me. I returned to work, but negotiated working from home... which definitely helped, but it still wasn’t sitting quite right. Then when Bella arrived... I was in a different space again... and moving further away from wanting to return to the corporate world. I love to work, always have. I didn’t want to be a full time ‘stay at home Mum’, but I also didn’t want to be full time ‘go out to work Mum’. But what else was there?? I didn’t want to be restricted to 20 days annual leave, having to use leave when the kids were unwell. I wanted to attend daycare trips, school events, sports days and drop off/pick ups. I had no interest in office politics, commuting, or having to be at the office at a set time every day. What DID I want? I wanted Flexibility. Choices. Financial, location and time freedom. I still wanted to live in our gorgeous house (that has a massive mortgage!) and maintain our incredible lifestyle, we weren’t willing to dial that back. I also wanted to do something for myself where I could be Bex (successful, fulfilled, kicking arse Bex!) and not JUST ‘Mummy’, and it was important for me to contribute financially to our family. These were all things I craved and wanted....but how do you get all that? Does it even exist? Surely that’s not possible with a young family? Was I being greedy? What were my options?
