23.01.2022 Announcing our teachers for Brisbane Balboa Weekend 2019!! John and Julia Wharington are passionate about Balboa, and they love sharing their love for the dance... with dancers at any level. For the last decade, they have taught numerous Balboa workshops, troupes and classes in Australia and overseas. From their classes you can expect to receive a solid grounding in the foundations of Balboa all the way to challenges that get you thinking out of the box, all bundled in a fun and unique package. Their aim is to get you up and dancing on the social dance floor, dancing Balboa comfortably and looking good in no time. John and Julia have won many Australian Balboa Championships, and also have won or placed in various Balboa competitions in the USA. They are experts in their field, who focus on creative teaching techniques and bringing an infectious enthusiasm to their classes. Together they run Australia’s only Balboa and Shag festival, ‘All the Cats Join In’ in Melbourne. See more

18.01.2022 We stopped in at The Bearded Lady on both Saturday and Sunday. Not a heap of room for dancing, but we especially enjoyed hearing our student Roger Brand playing with The Swing Beans for their first 2-set gig. They played us some really nice full-bodied dance tunes

We'll be teaching some more of our favourite social dance grooves and moves. We'd like to see everybody at class, but a couple of EXTRA LEADERS, in particular, would help up balance the class more this week.

12.01.2022 Behind the scenes: Even the basic post-production we do on most of our class recap videos takes a LOT of computing power. Exporting this week's 3-minute video ready for 4k@60fps on YouTube with adjusted volume, cropping, and lighting, caused my 12 core i7 CPU to be maxed out at 100% usage for 20 minutes.

03.01.2022 SHUTDOWN ANNOUNCEMENT In the last 24 hours, it has become apparent that it is no longer in the public interest to continue running dance classes and socials. We... are suspending all of our classes and social dances for 2 weeks and we will reassess the situation at that point. Class card expiry dates will be extended by the duration of the shutdown. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and hope you all stay well through this difficult time. We imagine everyone will be extra keen to jump back into dancing again as soon as possible.
