25.01.2022 Back to the mini 9 patches. Will have to recount how many blocks I have done so I know how many left to go. I also managed to cut more 1" strips for the Mini Log Cabin quilt so I can make some more blocks. Have a busy month in March as I'm teaching in Millicent on the 7th and have the shop in Adelaide on the 14th at the Country Forum and then it's time for the Lucindale Field Days on the 20th and 21st.

25.01.2022 Thanks to Sharon Ghalayini for nominating me for quilt for 5 days here is my first post Quilt 1 is my "Therapy Quilt", second pic is to show you the size of eac...h of the blocks. I think I was insane for making this one but I'm glad I did. Quilt 2 is my "Ohio Star Quilt" this one is on my bed and I just love it Quilt 3 is a quilt I made around 17 years ago and has lived on my wall most of that time. It is one of my favourite quilts not sure why I like it but I do. Now I'm off to find quilts for tomorrow's post See more

23.01.2022 23 more Mini Log Cabin blocks on the go, It's good to feel like sewing again, two dark strip to put on. I looked at the mini purple 9 patch but couldn't bring myself to do any of it. I think I OD on it last month. I will get it done but there is no point sewing something that doesn't inspire you. I'm out at Maud's on the Hilltop tomorrow for a fun day of Dear Jane, YES!!!

20.01.2022 Well no sewing tonight. Had visitors after tea so will have to wait till Tuesday night to sew as I have to go up and back to Adelaide tomorrow, son has another interview. Fingers crossed.

19.01.2022 OMG!! Well winter is definitely here . Only good thing about all the wind & rain is it’s a great chance to go through some containers to see what UFO I’m going to finish next . I found my Cobweb quilt (won’t mention how long it’s been on the go) and thought that would be a good one to finish. I have 32 finished triangles and I need at least 144, so some way to go yet, watch this space. ... I just want to say that Patchworkers will go out in any weather to go to the shop to buy fabric for a project. The ladies that visited me today made it through freezing cold conditions . Thank you. Hope everyone is keeping warm and finding a bit of time to play with fabric or sew.

16.01.2022 Thanks for all the comments over the past days for my 5 day challenge. It was lost of fun and I found a couple of quilts I had forgotten I had made. I have had a couple of nights off of sewing as I have needed to spend some time doing "normal boring" stuff. Now back to sewing This is 1 1/3 rows of the Dear Jane quilt and I have found the 5 border blocks I had made some time ago. At this rate I should be finished about 5 months. I have also have restarted to make the Blue and the Grey quilt. I am making it 4 times bigger than in the book. This should only take me a 5 or 6 nights of sewing to complete. I'll keep you posted.

15.01.2022 I was at Millicent today teaching as part of the Geltwood Festival . Had a wonderful group of girls who have started to make some amazing quilts. Here are some pics. I have posted a pic of the ladies and their fabric then a pic of their quilt so far A big thank you to all that attended and I hope I get back to see the quilts on display. PS thanks for all the comments, about Henry's move, over the last couple of days. I'm coping very well and Alison helps takes my mind off it. Thanks again xx

13.01.2022 I'm sewing tonight but it's not patchwork. I have made "loud" shirts for a friend in Adelaide for some years now and this is the latest addition to his collection. The animal one was made a few week ago and just needs buttons. I have been working on the stripe one. It needs a collar and buttons and I'm just starting the pineapple one. I love the challenge of lining up the front/centre of the shirt so the pattern lines up.

13.01.2022 Hi, Sorry I have been a bit quiet this last couple of weeks but I was plagued with yucky headaches for about a week. Then after I got over those I was organising the Quilters by the Sea quilt camp which we had over the weekend. We don’t go far my friend lets me use his house here in Robe so we spent the weekend sewing, eating, talking, laughing & more eating. I managed to sew up the Log Cabin quilt and I’m very happy with the result . I have added some photos of the weeke...nd. Happy sewing everyone. See more

10.01.2022 After the busy weekend in Adelaide we had a good trip home yesterday but I was back on the road again today as I went over to Naracoorte to the Mill Quilters sewing day. We had 16 members attend and most were busy on a number of charity quilts. I have the next 2 days home/quilting then Thursday is setup day for the Lucindale Field Days. This month has been a bit of a "Mad March"

09.01.2022 Wow! What a day. I have had the shop at the Country Forum, in Adelaide, and I'm sure a fantastic time was had by all. If you are a member of the SA quilters Guild and live in the country you should attend one of these days as they are an informative day and they feed you very well. It was so lovely to catch up with some old friend and meet some new. I was also thrilled to talk to a number of ladies who follow me on Facebook, it's lovely to get such positive feedback, and I... can't wait to get back on the machine and sew sew sew. I'm now back at my accommodation sitting down with mum with a glass of wine. "CHEERS" See more

08.01.2022 I went to Adelaide yesterday with my son so he could go to an interview for an apprenticeship. Well he got the call today to say he's got the job. He needs to be back in Adelaide tomorrow so we have packed him up and will wave him off tomorrow morning. I'm a bit emotional, happy and sad, so I don't think I better do any sewing tonight.

08.01.2022 Day 2 of quilt challenge. Quilt 1 - I made from a pic I saw in a book many years ago and I always wanted to make it. So in 2005 I made it Quilt 2 - This is a variation of a Wendy Whellum quilt. I found the pattern in a magazine but added the little black strips that separate the blocks. Quilt 3 - this is a miniature quilt measuring 7 1/4" x 5 3/4" this was made back in 1995. This pattern was in a magazine called "Miniature Quilts" and is no longer in print but I still have ...all my old copies and still love them. Quilt 4 - this is a miniature pineapple quilt. I did a foundation class with Virginia Enright, at the Quilt Encounter, in the 90's and I used the paper she gave us to colour in, to get our colour placement, as my foundation papers. Each pineapple block is 1 1/4" and there is 16 blocks and each has 45 pieces in it, see I've always been a bit insane. Made in 1996 This quilt won first place in a miniature challenge at the Naracoorte Mill Quilters in 1996 I nominate Michelle Clark to take up the challenge See more

06.01.2022 Well day 5 has come quickly. I could have gone on for days yet, lol Quilt 1 I don't remember where I got the idea or pattern from but I think the quilt is very classic. Quilt 2. This quilt is on the front cover of the "Dreams" book. I changed the size of the borders and I use the Faith range of reproduction fabric. Quilt 3 this is made from a combination of two quilts I had seen on the internet. I changed and combined ideas and made a sample block and then I knew I was on a... winner Quilt 4. This quilt is one of my oldest quilts still going. It would have to be 27+ years old. It is called "Road to Oklahoma" and was one of my first strip pieced quilts. It was black and pink, it's very faded now, and I'm guessing that is what everyone did in the mid to late 80's. After making this quilt it changed the way I made quilts, forever, as up until that point most had been made from templates. After looking back at all the quilts I have posted while doing this challenge I am surprised at how long I have been into civil war fabric. Hope you have enjoyed seeing the quilts. Thank you for all your comments Back to sewing that purple quilt now. See more

05.01.2022 Hi, Hope everyone is keeping warm . I managed to sew the Cobweb quilt triangles into sets of 4, so it’s easier to layout. I’m really happy with the way it’s looking, I only need to make another 88 triangles . Will have to cut up some more fabric before I can continue sewing . ... I will start to take the paper off the back of the blocks tonight while having a wine. Happy sewing everyone See more

04.01.2022 Day 4 Quilt 1. This is a quilt I made from the "One Block Wonders" book. I don't normally do red or oriental but in this quilt I did both and I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Pic 2 is a piece of the original fabric I chopped up for the quilt. Quilt 2 this is a very special quilt I made it from fabric my friend Jenny Dell'Antonio gave my for a birthday present. Love the splashes of bright yellow and greens in this quilt. It's so simple but very effective and it's one of my favourites. Quilt 3. This was a fun quilt to make. It looks fantastic as a full size quilt my friend Maureen and I collaborated on this design I made this one and she made a queen size for her daughter. I nominate Louise Agnew to do the 5 day quilt challenge.

04.01.2022 Day 3 Quilt 1. This is a yoyo quilt it is almost finished but I have missed placed the blue border yoyo's, they are all made just hiding "somewhere safe" Quilt 2. This was made so long ago when I didn't know these fabrics were civil war reproduction fabrics. I went out to find fabrics fabric that were ugly and in the process I fell in love with the them. Quilt 3. This quilt is from the Nickel Quilts book, it's on the front cover Quilt 4. This is a 9 patch in a 9 patch quilt.... It was meant to be a table runner but somehow it grow to a queen topper I would like to nominate Maureen Anderson from Maud's on the hilltop See more

04.01.2022 Here is a pic of the borders on the quilt. I had the girls for sewing today I should have asked one of them to take the pic while a couple of us held it up, it’s big. I normally don’t use oriental fabrics but I try to work outside my comfort zone occasionally. It will make a lovely present for someone. So into the cupboard it goes, with its binding, till it is needed. Well it’s definitely winter in Robe today, we have had wind & rain, perfect weather for sewing and I’m ab...out to go back to my sewing machine for a bit longer as I have tea all made. Happy sewing See more
