19.01.2022 The SA Variety Bash is coming to the Limestone Coast this week, with more than 300 crazily-costumed entrants ...and 100 colourful vehicles making their way through the region. The event, which was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions and then replaced with a shorter event, started in Kingscote on Kangaroo Island yesterday and will make their way to Robe today, before going through Millicent and Mount Gambier tomorrow. Participants will then travel up to Loxton before finishing in Glenelg. The event hopes to raise more than $1 million for children in need, and will bring much needed economic benefit to regional areas of South Australia through supplies, meals and accommodation as well as presenting a quarter of a million dollars in grant funding throughout the State. Variety SA has overcome many hurdles to see the Variety Bash go ahead in 2020. Many things had to be put on hold, but our passion for raising money for kids in need was never one of them, said Mark McGill, Variety SA CEO. Variety Bash entrants will get to see their fundraising efforts first hand over the five-day event, with grants totaling $290,673 presented along the route. Over the past 31 years, the SA Bash alone has raised in excess of $44 million for South Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or live with special needs. 17.01.2022 Step 3 of easing Covid-19 restrictions begins tomorrow! This will be great for many of our local businesses. A reminder that COVIDSafe Plans for businesses need to be updated to reflect these changes.

17.01.2022 / All current travel restrictions between South Australia and Victoria will be dropped on December 1st provided there a...re no mystery cases in the coming weeks. The decision was made today during a COVID-19 Transition Committee meeting. This means that travelers will not need to quarantine when crossing the border, and families will be able to travel in time for Christmas. SA's border with WA will also reopen from midnight tonight.

13.01.2022 South Australian Premier Steven Marshall has just announced the closure of South Australias borders to all non-essential tra...ffic in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) effective immediately. from 4pm on Tuesday afternoon, anyone enterting the state will be required to enter self-isolation for 14 days. Twelve border control stations will be manned by SAPOL officers, and those entering the state will have to read the order and sign a declaration that they will self-isolate. He also announced that arrangements will be put in place in areas in regional South Australia near the border, and addressed the high levels of traffic between two communities close to the border for various reasons including schooling and healthcare. Those affected will be allowed to move within these communities once they have been identified. It was also revealed that there will be "logical exemptions" including freight. Premier Marshall said "It is absolutely crucial that at this time we keep our national freight moving so we dont have shortages here in South Australia"

12.01.2022 Welcome Back to Robe! Robe is pleased to welcome South Australians back following the State Governments easing of restrictions, as of 11 May 2020. Most of our... small businesses will be reopening and would love your support. Whether youre a traveller, holiday home owner or a visitor coming to see friends and family, we extend an invitation for you to enjoy a welcome change of scenery. Robe is glorious in Autumn, with clear blue skies, crisp cool days, roaringocean and crackling wood fires in old stone buildings. Experience our local scenery and savour the natural beauty that is Robe. Please be aware that although travel restrictions have eased, our businesses will operate responsibly and in accordance with State Government guidelines. Please continue to maintain social distancing and practice good hygiene as well as other recommended practices whilst enjoying your visit. We aim to keep our residents and visitors healthy so Council actively supports the downloading of the COVIDSafe App to assist health authorities in tracking and managing the spread of the virus in the event of an outbreak. Please consider downloading the App before coming to Robe.

12.01.2022 Lest we forget.

11.01.2022 The holiday hotspot of Robe is effectively shutting itself off from the rest of the state, with the council actively discouraging visitors. 11.01.2022 Review #30875234 5* Lovely house in great location walk in to Main Street large enough for two families Date of arrival - 6 March 2020

11.01.2022 I, like most others, are wondering how on earth we got from normal to here so quickly. The day to day business of Council is still going on, but with a focus pr...otecting the health and wellbeing of our community at the front and centre of our decisions. Early on, our messaging had been asking people to reconsider their travel plans and suggesting that people only undertake essential travel. This was picked up by the media as a Robe dont want you message which was unfortunate (and damaging) but as the week wore on, both State and Federal governments were issuing the same message Australia wide. Despite this, we are still seeing people coming here and others wishing to book for Easter. I would like to thank the accommodation providers who are actively dissuading people from holidaying in Robe until the non-essential travel restrictions are lifted. As with all disasters, it brings out the best in most of the population. Here are just some examples from our town in the last week: The Trilogy Team are looking at a model for providing free meals (with community support and donations) for those who have lost their jobs and the older members of our community who need assistance Our supermarket is offering free home delivery Our chemist is providing us all with unending care and commitment and has planned in advance to ensure there is a medium term supply for those who get regular prescriptions Planning is underway to start a foodbank operation out of the Robe Football Club One of our local health professionals is seeking information on offering mental health support via phone to anyone in the community who needs it Brad Scott and Lisa Hall (Robe Tourism Association President and Secretary) are providing ongoing information to our devastated tourism operators regarding the range of services available to businesses through the Governments stimulus packages Wendy Leopold, Valma Jennings and Ali Douglas offering their services (via phone) to our over 70s who might need a hand working through the maze of information or would just like a chat Sea Vu Caravan Park offering our health professionals free accommodation should they want to isolate from their families. Im sure there are other things that Ive missed. please let me know and I can put them in the next post. A very special thankyou to the Robe Medical Clinic from the Robe Community: TO ALL OF THE AMAZING STAFF AT THE ROBE MEDICAL CLINIC, OUR COMMUNITY THANKS YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS. OUR COMMUNITY IS STAYING HOME, WE ARE SELF ISOLATING AND OBSERVING SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO SLOW THE SPREAD This forced slow down of our lives has had some unexpected benefits. So many people have said they have had time to do some gardening, talk to friends on the actual phone (not via text!), do some baking, clean out the garage and spend time with their kids! Please remember that: this virus is no ones fault (despite all the conspiracy theories!) its no ones fault if someone gets it (because someone will) and there are no winners in the blame game (no surprises there). We will work our way through this and we are still the same strong community today as we were before this all happened. Take care, please stay connected and if you there is anything you dont understand or are concerned about, please call me on 0427 357 243. Service isnt always great at Bray, but I will definitely call you back ASAP. As things change so quickly with Covid-19, we will continue to provide updates via our Facebook page. Please relay these messages to any of your non-Facebook using friends and family. Mayor Alison Nunan

Shopping centres will remain open. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said it was a regretful but necessary next step in order to slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus)

06.01.2022 Premier Steven Marshall has announced that South Australias borders will be open to all states and territories from July 20th. Edit: Our border with Victoria will remain closed for the time being.

06.01.2022 Our community continues to adapt to this new, restricted life that we are all living. After my last post, some other initiatives have developed and Id like to ...share them with everyone: 1. The Robe Dairy is offering home delivery on Tuesdays and Fridays. You can order and pay online or just call 8768 2626. 2. You can order grocery lines (fruit/veg/meat/milk/bread) through the Robe Hotel as well as some pre cooked meals. Grocery orders in by Tuesday 7pm for collection through the BottleO (or delivery available) on Thursday afternoon. Contact the hotel on 8768 2077. 3. Yoga Pam has developed a podcast to assist those of us who are feeling a bit tense. Phone 0402 730 785 for details. 4. Local Jess Hawkins is there for anyone who is feeling a bit low or anxious regarding what is happening at the moment. You can give her a call on 0431 277 733. As Jess is a health care professional, your privacy is guaranteed. We are pleased that Jess is kindly offering the service for free to Robes residents. 5. Heather Gibbons is offering online stress management sessions via the easy to use Zoom app. Give her a call on 0407 978 335 for details. In this challenging time, our small community continues to instigate plenty of great ideas to help the broader community. Keep sending in any good news stories so I can let everyone know! As Easter approaches, we are doing as much as we can to ensure the stay home so this can be over faster message gets through to all non essential travellers. This doesnt come easy to a town that has always been very welcoming and generous but for now, its the best thing we can do. In support of discouraging non-essential travel, i.e. stay home so this can be over faster message, Council has resolved to close the Robe boat ramp, the boat ramp at the Ski Lake and vehicle access to Long Beach from 6.00am on the 9 April 2020 through until 6.00pm on the 15 April 2020. Please keep in touch with friends and neighbours as well as supporting our older residents. Its our connections that will keep us going as we have our good and bad days. Please call me if there is anything you would like to discuss or if you would just like to chat, 0427 357 243. Mayor Alison Nunan
