The state government encouraged South Australian tourists to travel to regional areas a couple of weeks ago and state border controls are still in place. President Brad Scott says the Robe Tourism Association is expecting tourism numbers for the upcoming long weekend to be on par with the same time last year. 08.01.2022 SE FIELD DAYS CANCELLATION - STATEMENT The SE Field Days Committee has released a detailed statement about its decision to cancel what is the biggest annual eve...nt held in the region: Lucindale Lions Club and South East Field Days. At an emergency Lions/South East Field Days committee meeting held tonight (Friday), an in-depth discussion took place regarding the field days and the Corona Virus. Many things were taken into account, from the Prime Ministers advice that all gatherings with over 500 people be cancelled, to the impact that cancelling the Field Days for this year will have on exhibitors and on the public. A secret poll was conducted after all those in attendance had a chance to speak, and the outcome was 19 votes to cancel, and 4 votes to hold the Field Days. So, it is with deep regret that we cancel the 2020 Field Days. We wanted to give all exhibitors as much notice as possible. We know that this will hurt exhibitors in many ways, but as a responsible Lions club, we have to protect the safety of all concerned. We now have the huge task of advising all those concerned and involved with the Field Days, we apologize for placing this on each exhibitor, but the Corona Virus in Australia is only in its infancy and all indications are that it is going to get much worse. Even though the Lucindale Lions Club will lose the income of nonattendance, we are looking at several measures that may enable us to offer part refunds to exhibitors. This will take some time to work through, and we will keep you informed. We apologize once again for having to take this action, but we feel its in the best interests of all. Health and safety must come first. Lucindale Lions Club and South East Field Days committee.
