25.01.2022 Jean Moore - Cecil brought home your book and I have read it from cover to cover and re-read many parts of it. I see that you were looking for reviews. I have attached my thoughts for you. Moving to Chulsa is an interesting insight into a lost and troubled little soul desperately seeking love and acceptance whilst trying hard to find himself in an ever-changing world. The tides of life, governed by adults, sweep him along, sometimes almost overwhelming him and at other ti...mes allowing him to drift along on the eddies and ripples, joining wholeheartedly in all the fun and mischief enjoyed by most children as they grow and adapt to changing times. In his search for self, the confident, secure, adult Rob candidly bares his soul for all to see and I eagerly await the next chapter from his challenging past! Kindest regards Jean PS Cecil is now reading it! See more

25.01.2022 Jean Magill - Amazon Customer 5.0 out of 5 stars Moving to Chulsa Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 January 2020 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase... An honest, funny and sometimes a little uncomfortable account of life in SE London in the late 60's / early 70's, it took me back to a time when there was a real sense of community, everyone looked out for each other, what was acceptable then would certainly not be today, Rob tells a great story and if you're a child that grew up around then please read it and if you're not read it anyway. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for the next instalment.

24.01.2022 Johnson Bird Great read Rob, it brought a lot of memories flooding back. That Robbins family sounded a bit dodgy lol.

24.01.2022 Carole 3.0 out of 5 stars Easy read. Interesting upbringing. Took me back to the 60s and my own childhood in the UK. loved reading about the authors ordeals in life at that time. An easy read.

23.01.2022 Maureen Armour Thoroughly enjoyed reading it - well done, Rob XX

23.01.2022 Ann Sutton Jan 19, 2020Ann Sutton rated it really liked it I stayed up all night reading this book, I just couldnt sleep till I finished it Alright so I know Chulsa I grew up round there as well , however this book will still be a good read for any big kids out there who grew up on estates back when we used to rule them lol... We used to think we were well hard, well we were on the outside but what else was really going on in our lives? Read this book and remember.

22.01.2022 Debbie Blake - I didnt want it to end. What a wonderful vivid memoir of being a child in the 60s and 70s. Rob captured very well how important childhood relationships are; what it felt like to be a part of a group/gang, the need for acceptance and the lengths we go to get it. Even though bad things were happening, Rob has managed to evoke an innocence that belongs to times gone by. It creates such nostalgia for me and left me wanting more. Posted on 31 Jan 2020

20.01.2022 Karen Thompson - Hello Rob. Ive read your very entertaining book and really enjoyed it. You were positively posh with your sugar sandwich. Will write a review when Ive worked out how to do it Ill get Johns help and well write it together. Lots of love xx

19.01.2022 Jill Francis - Loved the book Rob, very poignant, looking forward to the next instalment

19.01.2022 Lorelle Wadley - Finished the book! For me not being a boy or London /UK working classer it was an interesting cross-cultural journey. (although I was an Aussie working classer). Such mischief and hilarity! And the candid dark fringe? - brought pause for respectful reflection - the themes not new to a childrens health worker. :)... I enjoy your writing style Rob! Well done. Take care, Cheers Lorelle

18.01.2022 David Burrows - Loving the book Rob, read a third just yesterday afternoon. Its brilliant very well written, you have a massive talent I feel as if Im in 1968 in Chulsa. Wanna skip to Kentwood

17.01.2022 Maureen Armour to Rob Craggs Hi Rob, read your book and thought it was great! Claudette certainly did a good editing job although I couldn't wait for you to send me the chapters as you were writing them! Well done!

16.01.2022 Georgia Bullock - Rob Craggs, Wow, Rob what can I say? Congratulations I wish I had your memory and ability to write. An amazing insight on a very difficult period of your life but I loved the way it was still written with a positive and uplifting perspective. It is difficult not to repeat from other reviews the word raw as it definitely was filled with raw and honest emotion. Look forward to the next 20 years.

15.01.2022 Amazon - David Burrow 5.0 out of 5 stars Moving to chulsa Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 February 2020 Wow just finished the book and its a roller coaster of ups and downs for Rob.... Its very well written, and brings back so many memories of life in Penge & Crystal Palace in the 60s & 70s it made me smile and sad at the same time for my friend Rob. Total shock that Im mentioned in it ( Changed name) but yes the story of a human taxi was true and we related so many stories that afternoon in Robs salon . I highly recommend this book as a time in history that is forever there !! good and not so. Well done Rob , please write the follow up!

14.01.2022 Gerry & Thea Brown Hi Rob, Congratulations on compiling your little gem, ‘Moving to Chulsa’. Your recollection of names and places is quite amazing. You show insight into the way a boy thought and I like your self-analyses.... Likewise with your character studies of many of the people you encountered. Other features I appreciated were your use of dialogue, the chapter length variations, and your ability to build up suspense. Your Ethiopian father’s story was very interesting. Having ‘cut your teeth’ with your childhood dramas, I suspect you will take up the challenge of writing about your later life! See more

I tried to put this review on Amazon but as I dont have an account was unable to: A very interesting read!! Memories of a young boys account of growing up on a council estate in the 1960s. 09.01.2022 Natalie Winifred Norris-Craggs 5.0 out of 5 stars An honest and hilarious account of my fathers childhood A real, raw snapshot into the life and times of my young mixed raced father on a south london estate where my grandmother still lives to this day. In a time (60s) where mixed race kids with single mum's didnt really exist. A brave account of the bad times and the hilarious times. Easy and hilarious to read with splices of short story, poetry, history and song. This book w...ill shock you in places and will leave u wanting more!
