13.01.2022 Masks Gone Wild is an Instagram street photography series I've been creating over the past month as part of a Covid-19 diary. The series focuses on face masks as discarded or lost objects. Discarded masks have become common in Sydney as the Pandemic evolves. Masks out of context in a public, is end of timeline information linking a known pandemic to an infinite number of unknown, imagined but relateable individual stories. This is an Australian story. 12.01.2022 Last Sunday I documented the Sydney Red Rebel Brigade at Bondi Beach. They are a performative activist arts group created as a response to the global environmental crisis. Red is the colour for urgency and a heartfelt appeal for all voices - beyond political parties. The Sydney Red Rebels are part of a worldwide movement of climate change activists. It symbolises common shared blood, danger, passion etc. Red Rebels parade between different locations, improvising with the environment to create tableaux moments as well as disruptions or distractions taking over streets.
