24.01.2022 Extracted from a World Economic Forum article written by Robin Pomeroy: people who have been living in places that are more polluted over time, that they are more likely to die from coronavirus. what we know for sure is that is that air pollution is already prematurely killing 7 million people around the world. .. as governments have to invest to rebuild their economies, they have a chance to make better choices. There is a clear mandate for. Politicians to make sure that, at the very least, economic stimulus does not increase air pollution.

23.01.2022 An extract from the World Economic article Normal was not Working by Saadia Zahidi, Head of the New Economy and Society. Four key areas the WEF is focusing on: First is a completely is a completely different approach to the content and delivery of education; Second is to take more seriously reskilling and upskilling of workers around the world as Covid 19 will leave us with an unemployment crisis; Thirdly we have seen during the pandemic that the countries that perfor...m the best and have the most rapid recovery are those that have invested in social safety nets; and Fourthly wages and job creation as the essential workers on the front lines of the pandemic crisis are the people that are the most underpaid See more

20.01.2022 MOVING FORWARD The world has been dramatically challenged by Covid-19. On a glass half full basis it produced a great act of solidarity around the word as we gave up civic freedoms to save lives. Civil unrest has been escalating, massive inequality, eroded trust in governments, the climate emergency, racial, gender and other inequalities is entrenched, and we face the moral and ethical challenges of new technologies. For the world this means a new social contract where people and the planet are central to a SHARED prosperity built on rights and inclusion.

19.01.2022 I have been musing on an extract from an article by Klaus Schwab published by the World Economic Forum in January 2016 and thinking how prophetic his words 4.5 years ago were. I wonder whether the inexorable integration of technology in our lives could diminish some of our quintessential human capacities, such as compassion and cooperation. Our relationship with our smartphones is a case in point. Constant connection may deprive us of one of life’s most important assets: the time to pause, reflect and engage in meaningful conversation.

18.01.2022 A wonderful initiative which can be easily adopted all over the world. Simple, clever with wonderful results as is but imagine strings of them connecting to larger existing areas of greenery. 16.01.2022 READ WITH AN OPEN MIND FOR a BETTER BUSINESS. EXCUSES slow you down from reaching your goals. You need to address the reasons you think you cannot grow your business and get rid of them. Find solutions to overcome excuses. LEARN from what others have to say and from other business owners. Write things down to develop a detailed plan. Advice from experts and those with grey hair should be a must. ... SOLUTIONS are the answer. Focus on why you are operating your business. Know what problems your target customers face and how you can solve them. Simplicity Create a simple, quality good or service. A successful business idea should fulfil promises to customers and exceed expectations. BUDGET Add up how much it is costing to run your business including a salary for yourself. Then double it. Create a business budget to control expenditure. What unexpected things could mess up your plan? SPEAK OUT Speak confidently about your business. You need to market and network constantly. If you cannot convince customers to buy from you and support you, it is difficult to make money. RULES You need to register the business. You must take care of business-specific tax obligations. As you hire workers, you need to follow employer laws. Talking to a small business accountant is a smart investment. PASSION and RESTRAINT One of the most important ingredients in a successful business idea is passion. Passion will consistently drive you to improve your business as it grows. Like driving a car. Let your passion hit the gas pedal and your mind control the steering wheel. Robert Yandell.

16.01.2022 The Global Social Mobility Report WWW3.weforum.org/docs/Global_Social_Mobilty_Report.pdf Equality, Opportunity and a New Economic Imperative... This incisive report of The World Economic Forum is a must read by every thinking Australian who must then lobby every politician and would be politician to make it compulsory reading for them. If every government and opposition member in Australia was to adopt the recommendations of this Report Australia would soar on the world stage and its people would represent the most progressive and best off of all other countries both today and in each generation to come. Please help me ensure your representatives read and understand the tenets of this essential report for our future. Who as a MP will be the first to read and adopt?

11.01.2022 Extract from an article of World Economic Forum (WEF) The Great Reset will be the theme of a unique twin summit in January 2021, convened by the WEF. The Great Reset is a commitment to build the foundations of our economic and social system jointly and urgently for a more fair, sustainable, and resilient future. The Great Reset requires a new social contract centred on human dignity, social justice and where societal progress does not fall behind economic development. T...he twin summit will be in-person and virtual, connecting global leaders in Davos with a global network in 400 cities driven by the younger generation. Klaus Schwab Executive Chairman of the WEF: A Great Reset is necessary to build a new social contract, that honours the dignity of every human being . The global health crisis has laid bare our old system in terms of social cohesion, the lack of equal opportunities and inclusiveness. Nor can we turn our backs on the evils of racism and discrimination. We need to build into this new social contract to ensure that we live up to the expectations of young people. We need a change of mindset, from short-term to long-term thinking, from shareholder capitalism to stakeholder responsibility. Environmental, social, and good governance have to be measured part of corporate and governmental accountability. I ask every elected representative to research the Great Reset and t represent the whole electorate not just lobbyists and donors. See more

06.01.2022 WALKING EXTENDS LIFE A study over several years revealed that if you are over 65 years of age walking for 15 minutes a day reduces mortality by 22%. It also gives you time to think clearly.

05.01.2022 Taken from The World Economic Forum COVID Action Platform The Indian author Arundhati Roy writes: Historically, pandemics have forced humans to break with the past and imagine the world anew. This one is no different. It is a portal, a gateway between one world and the next. We can choose to walk through it, dragging the carcasses of our prejudice and hatred, our avarice, our data banks and dead ideas, our dead rivers and smoky skieys behind us. Or we can walk through lightly, with little luggage, ready to imagine another world. And ready to fight for it.
