08.01.2022 The Victorian Treasurer, Tim Pallas yesterday announced in the state budget, stamp duty reductions of up to 50% as part of the government’s Big Housing Build on Contracts of Sale entered into from Wednesday, 25 November. The discount will remain until 30 June 2021. The full 50% discount will apply to newly built homes valued up to $1 million and 25% for existing homes of the same value.... The Treasurer announced a 50% land tax discount for build-to-rent developments as part of the budget. He also announced that an exemption from the Absentee Owner Surcharge will be introduced from January 1, 2022 until 2040.
